Raging Baritone(RB) joined Sandtrap and myself for a trip to AC on Tuesday. We hadn’t been for awhile, and the first two sessions were not good at all. However, the afternoon session was terrific, with RB first having a 26 toss, followed by Sandtrap’s 42 roll. We only threw 3 times, and their other rolls were single digits, as were mine.
Wednesday morning we met up with our 98 year old friend, James, who is now using a cane, but stands to shoot, and still has his smooth toss. He always asks for us, but we have been missing him by coming on weeks he wasn’t there. Our morning session was not very good. Only Sandtrap had one 16 roll out of three tries, so we decided to go for a walk and lunch on the boardwalk. What a gorgeous day. We walked all the way down to Bally’s to try to go to a Jewish Deli, but it was closed. This was a 30 minute jaunt, and too much for Sandtrap, so he and RB took a ride back in a rolling cart, while I went tourist shopping for t-shirts for the wee grandchildren. The new babies have one that says, "I am Daddy’s tax deduction." The 2 year old grandson has "I got my muscles from my Daddy." The other two say, "I am the boss," and " I’m so cute!" I was happy to find shirts that did not say, "My parents went to AC…"
In the afternoon session we again stunk, but the wife of a Taj dealer had an outstanding 48 roll, and another player had a 27 roll, so we made out very well. In the evening session, out of two tries, RB had one 13 roll, Sandtrap had a 10 and 16 rolls, and I had one 16 roll. Two other GTC’ers showed up, and QuietStorm9 tossed a 12, and Miss3V had a nice 26 roll.
On Thursday morning, James was already on an empty table, and not doing too well. RB struggled with tosses of 5, 13, 13, 2, 2, 13, 2, 4, and 3. Sandtrap had rolls of 17, 9, 5, 6, 18, 17, and 7. I gave up my spot to OJ, who had a personal best of 44, along with tosses of 8, 4, 4, 4, and 10. (I told him I was going to bet the 4’s on a lottery ticket.) QuietStorm9 rolled a 14, 9, and 19. We then went back to the boardwalk for lunch, and a much shorter walk.
In the afternoon, RB had tosses of 2, 10, 12, 9, 14, and 12. Sandtrap had rolls of 18, 3, 4, 2, 17, and 9. Glue factory and his parents also showed up. Glue Factory had a nice 23 roll, and his Mom had a nice 18 roll. We started off on a different table than they did, and missed a random shooter’s roll in the 40’s, and I believe Mom also had a long roll before we got on the table. The table was almost all GTC, and it was a lot of fun. Since we were all tipping, the dealers were also having a great time.
At one point, I was able to see RB’s grip from the rear, and mentioned that his hand was on an angle, and his pointer finger was shorter than the others. He must have practiced, because after dinner he had had a 57 roll! OJ had a nice 14 roll, so we all left with nice profits.
Friday morning was up and down, with 3 short rolls for each of us. Sandtrap had a 13 roll; I had an 11 and a 13; RB had a 13 and a 16. Glue Factory rolled a 16 and a 15. He had obviously had a good night’s sleep, after the previous day of leaving work at 4am and arriving at 12 noon in AC due to an accident on the highway. His Mom left for Pai Gow since she wasn’t throwing well. DaveL2 and his wife were at the end of the table, and moved in when the others left. The one roll I saw was a nice 12.
Miss3V had rolls of 2 and 4, and I noticed she was using the 3V set. I had already been told by her and her husband that she is rarely on axis, and she shoots with difficulty from the right due to an accident. I asked her to try the hardway set, and to try to straighten her hand more. Lo and behold, out came a beautiful 44!!
When we first met up with them on Wednesday, they said there were two dealers who always gave them a hard time. I found this difficult to believe since we have never observed anything negative by these dealers. However, it turned out neither player was tipping. I encouraged them to do so, by any method from the examples I gave them. They started tipping right away, and not a peep out of the two dealers who happened to be on our table, and were always very pleasant to us. Please everyone. Regular tipping keeps the dealers on our side, and benefits everyone in GTC.

It is always great to see a small flaw in a fellow GTCer’s throw, mention it to that person and they see the instant improvement. It makes what we do worthwhile.
Also amazing how a little tipping will open a player’s eyes to how much you get from the dealers, but you must tip. It doesn’t have to be much just some consistency.
Goddess Alligator Rose and I always learn a little from your posts.
See you in Vegas later this month. Hope we can meet up together to roll and maybe have some dinner.
