Interesting things always happen in Shreveport

Alligator Rose and the Doc decided to head to this little Oasis located in the Northwest corner of Louisiana. Won’t go into all the rolls that we had but let’s just say that we had good rolls and some not so good rolls.

We got lucky as we ran into three GTC people some of which we had not seen in a long time. First we ran into Big Daddy Guy and Diceman. Two great men who we always enjoy. The next day TommyC showed up and we had 3 right handers and 2 lefties. Rose and Doc started out with a couple in the teens before we met up with the 3 men mentioned above. After that we weren’t doing much at all.

We tried some BJ with speed count, as they have some excellent 2 deck games there, but it was not to be. Get a good count and we had 14 and the dealer a face card with a face card under. We get 2 face cards and the dealer has a BJ. BJ was where we lose most of our money. We took this brutal lesson in BJ and stayed with dice.

With 4 guys, thank goodness we had Rose with us as she always add some class to any group and we could certainly use all the class we could get.

Things were up and down for 2 days and we were down a couple of pictures of Ben Franklin.

We got up early the last morning and headed to the tables. TommyC had headed home to East Texas as the old day time job was getting in the way. At the end of the table was a loud drunk (it was 7:00 in the morning) yelling like all hell was breaking loose. He had a wad of tobacco in his cheek the side of a golf ball. This idiot had the dice and Big Daddy Guy told me he was in the middle of a long roll. Actually made a few dollars on him but not much. He yelled at the top of his voice with every roll.

The dice went around very quickly with nothing to show for it. Then the dice came to Rose as SR 2 and she had a very respectable 18 roll and we all made some money. Then one of those unexpected things happened with Diceman at SR 1. He may have had a short 8 roll but we made money. I know I had three paydays, the last being his point. It rolled a come out 7 and my 2 com bets came down. I placed the 6 and 8 (not working) and on his come out roll he hit the 8. Next roll a 7 out. Two bets working but I already had 3 paydays. Play it smart and you can make a little money, or not lose much, on these short rolls.

Next the dice went to Big Daddy Guy at SL1 who had a roll of about 11 and we all made a few dollars. Then old Doc got the dice at SL2 and things begin to happen. I was having a problem as I couldn’t seem to hit anything but 6’s and 8’s. Don’t you just hate that. Remember the drunk with the very large wad of tobacco in his month, he was hollering on every roll. I set the point of 9 and on every roll he would yell "who shot Billy The Kid–not our Billy The Kid– a 45 killed him!!!" Talk about having to tune out a distraction this was the ultimate distraction. Had he been addressing a large crowd he would not have had to have a bull horn.

Then I set the 4 as a point and on every roll he would take a drink of his bourbon and water over the wad of chewing tobacco and drool on the floor (how gross is that) and he begin to yell on every roll "how do ducks get to the water, 2 by 2." If I hit a number a high five from him was in order. My hands and the dice must have had all sorts of filth on them. This had to be the ultimate lesson in how to re focus and continue the roll.

Don’t know exactly how long the roll was for sure as we had 3 people counting the rolls—I had 39, Rose 42 and Diceman 36. . I made the command decision that we would use Rose’s count!!!!!

With the drunk idiot at the end of the table and a full table we all colored up and headed home.

A great trip, a small win, free rooms, free or discounted meals and most importantly great GTC friends. It doesn’t get any better.

As usual the 5 count saved out collective fannies on the chicken feeders.

Only a few weeks to Vegas. Looks like a great class as usual. If anyone on this board has been thinking about taking a class this might be the opportunity you have been thinking about. There are still some openings for Elite Video and Tune Ups. Sign up early as these seem to go quickly.

Way to go Doc. Meeting up with GTC friends. Sharing stories about family and other adventures at meals together. Getting to play with the always classy Alligator Rose. Then ending the trip with a 42 hand.

That is what GTC is all about. Priceless!!!

Very nice. Congratulations on the 42 roll. Lois and I can play every day but we still miss the travel to Shreeveport and Tunica. Maybe we will get to roll with you next month. We have fond memories of the times in Albuquerque.

Sounds like a nice short trip that produced a few profitable hands.

Looking forward to Vegas in a few weeks and hopefully we can have a few sessions that are profitable.
