My intention Saturday night is to get up at 4:00 am and go down to Tunica and try some throws. Well the rooms next to me were talking loud and banging doors until 12:30 am. So when my internal clock woke me up at 4:08, guess what happened?
Sunday morning brings some tales of overnight successes and not so’s.
The previous afternoon the Primers kept rolling during the GTC betting segment, so this morning it was the refreshers turn to do the same.
A lot of good input to everyone as to how to get the most coverage with the least amount of potential pain if the seven comes. Also, it is interesting to see some of the changed throws revert back to old practices while trying to assimilate the betting strategies. Tommy was getting all kinds of help from Dom and Arman as he threw some great numbers and while this was happening his throw was reverting back to old. It took two more stations to get him back on track. I threw a few times and when the seven came I went to the hook and thought back what I had done and the old hand position crept back in slightly. MORE PRACTICE IS NEEDED.
The box number team competition in preparation for the NO Sevens contest took place and our team kept trying to get two finishers. Finally Kendall and Tommy were chosen to represent team "Golden Chippers". Tommy askes Fred if he could give his spot to me and he said yes. Thanks Tommy, BUT I think you would have done well!!
A lot of ooh’s and aahh’s, trash talk, distractions and Timmer wearing out the carpet pacing back and forth as Jennifer from Team Under The Radar was in the lead. Up to the last thrower, a Team Under Radar Alumni, so any way it turned out Timmer was a winner! I went down in flames after four or five throws and Jennifer’s comment that when ever she hoots for a good throw the seven comes next. One die stuck and the 5/2 showed up. And Dom groaned as Timmer finally has a winner!
A lot of good fun and talk continued while class ended. Names exchanged and possibilities of some throwing with other GTC people might be happening across the country.
In past posts, comments have been made that the Memphis and Chicago classes being smaller have a more intimate feel to them as to LV or AC. Having only been to LV for my Primer and first refresher which were good, I will agree that the smaller venue does seem to promote a bit more camaraderie!
To all the instructors a BIG THANK YOU! The changes that have happened since June have in my opinion improved the course immensely. There seemed to be more jokes and fun going on and there seemed to be less tension in the air!
To all the primers and refreshers, refer to your notes and practice, practice, practice. Better yet, Mr. Finesse says Perfect practice makes for a perfect throw. So get your mirrors, your cameras, your notes, your throw sheets and become part of the 10% success story in GTC.
Does it take work and lots of it. You bet. But isn’t it worth it, only you can answer that question!
Hopefully see you at a table sometime soon!
Jim

I was nice to have all the practice time, either under supervision or waiting for things to start.
It allowed me to work on my SR1 toss.
Goldfinger comes up and asks – I thought you throw righty. I do BUT I think I can also do it from the SR1 as a lefty.
With the video analysis, it seems both sides of the brain got an education as to a MUCH better toss and it seems to have helped my left handed toss immensely!
Again many thanks to NFF and BTK for staying with it Friday to figure out my problem.
Now to getting back to recording my rolls, as I think the result might be what I need to succeed.

Again, it was a pleasure working with you in your Video Elite analysis.
You’ve come a long way since I first met you in that casino before your Las Vegas Primer class.
As you strive for excellence in this "thing of ours" your discipline and attention to detail will surely pay off.
You’re right – I’m proud when I see Team "Under The Radar" alumni succeed. I’m sure Section 8 feels the same way as you are also "Pips" alumni from your first Refresher class.
Thanks again for all the kind words, Stealthman. I’ll be sending the notes and feedback to accompany your Video Elite video shortly…

I always say that only 10% really do make it because it is not just the throw that has to be learned but also how to bet. The changes in how we discuss betting seems to make it easier to understand why you need to do certain things a certain way. So again a big thank you! I think that everyone in this Memphis class will be above that 10%. You are all a great bunch of students and all the instructors were proud in helping you reach your goal.
The Memphis class actually was bigger than last year as the AC class was and that is encouraging, but the venue does remain small and I agree that it makes it easy to meet fellow dice controllers.
Now practice! 😀 😀

The posts are great. Checking the website has become an everyday task that I look forward to again.
The refresher class, all the way down to lunch was so much more informative, relaxed and fun.
It was packed full of information w/ absolutely no wasted time.
I will be recommending it to several of my friends and family that I knew would not enjoy the old class for various reasons.
We went to the tables Sun night after class.
Several points from class were driven home.
# 1 5 count ( we did this )
# 2 Make smaller bets on others after the 5 count ( we did this, but not small enough )
# 3 Have confidence in yourself ( after 1st round and removing the jitters, rolls of 14,36, and 26 were accomplished
the 26 was a real money maker w/ repeating 6’s and 5’s. Ronald had a 27 and his confidence soared. Now we started
the quiet chant that Pitboss taught us " POINT SEVEN " on all the others.
# 4 I tip to much. ( that’s not going to change )
# 5 During class Dom said to own the table. Take charge of the table. Without realizing until the next morning, we accomplished this! We owned this table, from the time we got the dice until the time we got them back we owned this table. We had a blast and I like shooting craps again for the 1st time since the Primer class.
# 6 Most embarrassing moment happened Monday morning and I probably will never live it down. We met Doc, Rose and Goldfinger at the table and I had the privilege of blocking for Doc. When his turn came I promptly placed a passline bet for myself and the dealers.
Had I tried I could not have put it in his landing zone any better than I did. My brother in law said from the other end of the table MOVE YOUR DICE and one of the crew said I wondered why you put your bets there. I was the only one at the end of the table !

But Doc did not mention calling when they came to Shreveport again !
I think I may be blackballed now, and understandably so. 🙁

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, there have been changes and I am glad they are well received!
You got a great family…your brother-in-law always has a smile on his face that is contagious.
You got a great throw! Now trust it!

At my end of the table, all of the people were saying you were lighting up the place. Your throw looked rock solid and the dice were landing great.
Very impressive.

You are going to have a huge family team after the Vegas seminar.
