• Facelift for Red Rock Bar: Red Rock’s central Lucky Bar has undergone a complete facelift. We haven’t checked it out in person yet, but according to the press release, the walls have been removed to open up onto the casino, transforming the venue into a "sleek, verandah-style space". Gone is the dark-cherry decor, replaced with a palette of bright fall colors and metalics, plus new chandeliers and hi-def TVs. Sounds cool.
• Bellagio Room Remodel Phase II Completed: The second, $40-million phase of Bellagio’s room-remodeling project, which was announced last summer (see "Today’s News" 8/14/12) has been completed, with the remodel of 928 rooms in its Spa Tower. The upgrade includes the addition of energy-efficient lighting throughout, plus new fixtures and fittings that use renewable resources like wool and eucalyptus, plus the addition of three new including three new 2,500-square-foot Executive Parlor Suites, that come complete with a billiards lounge and home theater. The latest project is the continuation of a $70-million 3,387-room renovation project that was completed at the end of 2011.
• Players Club Upgrade at the Trop: What’s still billing itself as the "New Tropicana" has upgraded its Trop Plus Players Club and is marking the launch with a month-long promo period through the end of March, including $150,000 in slot free play and prize giveaways for logged-in players (six winners will be chosen at random daily between noon and midnight), plus discounts for new and enrolled members that include 50 percent off beer, wine, and well drinks from 5-8 p.m. daily in the Lounge, twofer tix to the Laugh factory, and 10 percent of hotel-room rack rate.
