Dom,
For those of you that have taken the Refresher or Advanced course taking the Elite Video should be a no brainer.
Being able to watch yourself in the proper frame speed with GTCs instructors coaching you throughout the 2 hr session is priceless.

For me this is what switched the light to the on position.
After taking the Refresher class in Oct 2010 I felt as though just a little more was needed.
The EV course was just getting off the ground so decided to take it in AC.
Clearly it solved many of the small problems that had snuck into my throw and now can refer back to notes and the video to
make sure they don’t creep back into my throw.

For the price you can’t go wrong

May the dice be with you T-Burg

Hi!

I thought the Elite Video was well worth the price and I am glad I took it.

The quality of the set up and equipment is first rate. The quality of the video is excellent slow motion where you can see every nuance of your throw and you also have the sound of the instructors talking about each throw so you know the good and bad of it. Having Billy and NFF, the GTC Advanced class teachers, working with only you and your toss for two hours is priceless and was a lot of fun and they had great stories used in their teaching! 😎

My opinion is I would highly recomend it! 🙂

I usually just lurk on these boards, but Dom’s thread spurred me to respond.

I can’t imagine a better bang for your buck than having your toss videoed and critiqued by three finer instructors than NFF, Billy and Dom. It’s one thing to have flaws pointed out in your toss; it’s quite another to see it in living color.

In my case, a terrible offline arc developed in my back-swing, which caused the dice to angle across the table and create a consistent yaw in their flight which caused them to land on their corners (as opposed to flat) on the table. I was not aware of why it was occurring. Since the video was done on Friday, I could relay what was learned to all the instructors during the tune-up classes on Saturday and Sunday, so that each one could help me break the habit.

That was last June in Las Vegas, it still occurs on an occasional shot; but I have learned to recognize the problem immediately, if not by feel through the back-swing, then by watching the angle of the dice in the air and how the dice react when they hit the table. And once I recognize it, I know how to fix it – quickly. Dom suggested that I not step back into the casino until I logged 1,000 consistent throws. Dom, you were wrong; it took 5,000 throws :D. I didn’t buy in to a dice game for 6 months.

The results are much more consistency in the shot, which translates to $$$. Thanks gentlemen.

BTW, in case you’re wondering, I have since made back the cost of the video elite course…and the tune-up…and for that matter, the primer.

As Dr. Crapology consistently states, "The cost of the class is not an expense. It is an investment".

If you are "on the fence" about the Video Analysis, then you should pass at this time. You won’t get enough out of it.

However….

If you want to take your game to the next level, then VA is a MUST. The minor flaws detected and the changes made are what will get you to the next level. Suddenly I can see why I have been struggling with consistentcy for the last few years. With a copy to take home, hopefully I can correct any backsliding I may do and get back on track.

If you are serious about dice control, this is a must take course.

I took the VE in March 2012. It resolved many problems I had developed since my refresher. Think of it as a recorded Tune-Up with feedback from two of the best. NFF and BK hold nothing back. They find the weaknesses and point them out. Further they work with you to attempt a short-term correction to your individual needs. Then you get the video. So you can use the video and the verbal critique to further improve your entire technique at home.

Bottom line: Best Deal. If I were doing it over, I may elect to do this next time; VE followed by tune-up to reinforce new muscle memories.

Good Luck

Bruce

By the way I made back the cost times ten two days after the VE.

I was the first to take it.

It is the best learning tool they have, it is one thing to hear them tell you what you are doing wrong but to see it makes it so easy to understand and correct.

I took the video elite year before last. I took it on the same weekend that I did the Advanced class. Both were very important in my development.
The video is an intensive one on one and really a class in itself. I still refer to the video when things are just not clicking. It’s quality is superb. And there is nothing sweeter than seeing the perfect throw you make in slow motion as it comes out of your hands . Double 5’s, double 4’s, double 2’s and double 3’s travelling perfectly from your finger tips to the table, onto the back wall and then drop onto a perfect hardway. Seeing it, knowing you did it, reinforces that you can do it again and again. Prior to taking the video elite and the advanced class, I threw very little hardways. I remember BTK telling me that after the video and advanced class, I would throw many hardways or at least eliminate many sixes and ones. Boy was he correct.

I have been very fortunate when playing after the classes. Some of my best rolls ever have occurred right after class. The year I took the video elite and advanced class was no exception. After class on Sunday, I had a short window to play before I had to leave. I headed to the casino, checked out and stopped to try my new found skills. I ended up at a table with a few classmates and a few instructors joined us. That particular day BTK had mentioned an approach to a particularly hard surface table where you kept the dice low and out towards the middle of the table with some extra spin. I used it on my throw. I ended up throwing twelve 5’s on that roll. Most were the 2-3 variety. It was a total throw of 38. When it was over I gave my spot up to BTK, who, when the dice came to him, threw a 35. Good profit made that day. I went home knowing that i paid for the video elite, the advanced class, and had profit to take out and put in my bank account. Just on those two rolls alone.

I say this with great wonder and respect for GTC: the investment has paid off whenever I have taken the class. I will be back for a refresher this month. I will be happy to discuss my adventures as a controlled shooter with anyone who wishes to discuss.
