In the topic Help ! Which dice set should I use? http://www.goldentouchcasino.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2984 Skinny states:
“Finally, if none of those work here is my last solution. No matter how the dice are passed, you can turn them into one of 3 sets by rotating them about their vertical axis, the way you did to put the one and six on a certain axis. The 3 sets are the 2V, 3V or hard way sets.”
Let’s take a look at this.
There are 21 possible combinations of the dice that could come your way:
11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16
22, 23, 24, 25, 26
33, 34, 35, 36
44, 45, 46
55, 56
66
So now with my green Golden Touch #232 dice in front of me, let’s look at these sets.
The traditional hardways set has one of 4 combinations on top 22, 33, 44, 55. Since the purpose of the hardways set is to minimize the appearance of the 7, a valid hardways set could be made with the 11 or 66 on top. That knocks off six combinations. We are down to 15 possible combinations.
12, 13, 14, 15, 16
23, 24, 25, 26
34, 35, 36
45, 46
56
Let’s look at the 3V. We know the 33 stays on top and the 44 is on the bottom. These were removed from the list on the hardways set. Start with a hardways 33 on top 22 facing you. Rotate the right die one turn clockwise to create the 3V. If we rotate both dice one turn forward we now see 26. Now let’s rotate those dice back two turns and we see 51. This is the “correct” 3V set as it maximizes the appearance of 6s and 8s.
Let us go back to the hardways 33. Now turn the right die one turn counter clockwise. This also creates a 3V set. Rotate forward one turn and we see 21, back two turns and we see 56. The 3V knocks four more combinations off the list. We are down to 11 possible combinations.
13, 14, 16
23, 24, 25
34, 35, 36
45, 46
Let’s look at the 2V. We know the 22 stays on top and the 55 is on the bottom. These were removed from the list on the hardways set. Start with the hardways 22 on top 44 facing you. Rotate the right die one turn clockwise to create the 2V. If we rotate both dice one turn forward we now see 46. Now let’s rotate those dice back two turns and we see 31. This is the “correct” 2V set as it maximizes the appearance of 4s and 10s.
Let us go back to the hardways 22. Now turn the right die one turn counter clockwise. This also creates a 2V set. Rotate forward one turn and we see 41, back two turns and we see 36. The 4V knocks four more combinations off the list. We are down to 7 possible combinations.

This puts us in a bit of a conundrum. But there is a solution, let us turn to page 118 of Casino Craps Shoot to Win by renowned author Frank Scoblete. That page shows us the Cross 6s or 6T set.
Let’s look at the 6T. We know the 66 stays on top and the 11 is on the bottom. These were removed from the list on the hardways set. Start with the hardways 66 on top 22 facing you. Rotate the right die one turn clockwise to create the 6T. If we rotate both dice one turn forward we now see 24. Now let’s rotate those dice back two turns and we see 53.
Let us go back to the hardways 66. Now turn the right die one turn counter clockwise. This also creates a 6T set. Rotate forward one turn and we see 23, back two turns and we see 54. The 6T knocks four more combinations off the list. We are down to 3 possible combinations.

No casino in the world should object if you wave the dice back to the stick if presented with the devil.
So yes, it is possible to create a valid set by just rotating the dice on their vertical axes.

You can do it while picking the dice up and moving them infront of you to shoot them.
Any questions just post your dice set and i will tell you how too move just one dice no more than two clicks to form either a 2v,3v hardway modified 2v,3v, hardway set.
This action is not considerd setting the dice because you are not setting them you are just picking them up to throw.
Very nice points chuckman.
Ask away give me the top two numbers and the front two i challenge you to find a set that i can not do it with and i do not care what set you give me i will only move one of the dice no more than two clicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to go chuckman.

say, left die- 3 top, 1 facing you. right die- 2 top, 4 facing you… ? what’s next? hope this is a valid question about when the dice are served to you.

let me say that this quick set doesn’t really have to be done at most places you will play at. I use this on some vacations out of the country where dice setting is not allowed. But setting the dice quickly is important. remember that we want to set, grip and throw within ten seconds. I use to practice just setting the dice at first to be able to set quickly
