New a;; for Ipad

Spread the love

The beautiful Alligator Rose and I have been using our Ipad to video our throw. Although a great help the throw on the video was way too fast to really see everything we neded to see. While on our recent trip with Brothelman, Goldfinger and JBW4141 they informed us of a new app that can give you slow motion–and I mean you can get really slow if you like, as ther are several settings you can use. The app is SLO PRO. Those with Ipads will find it most helpful. Just be careful what you wish as you may see some flaws that you had no idea existed. Give it a try.

Hi!

I don’t have an I-Pad but I am strongly contemplating getting one.

The APP you mentioned sounds just like what I have been looking for.

Hopefully Doc you or someone else can answer a couple of questions I have about the APP.

Is this a free APP or how expensive is it to buy?

Can you really see the dice coming out of your hand and the faces of the rotations of the dice as they fly through the air?

I have an inexpensive slow motion software that I use now but the dice are blurry and I really want to see what is going on as the dice are released and are on the fly.

Thanks for any information you can give me! 🙂

Getagrip,

We are still experimenting with the IPAD APP. It is free. You can easily see the hand movement but the dice are a little blurry. We are trying to slow down the motion even more to see the dice but just seeing the hand position/movement has made a great deal of difference. We hope to slow the dice down even more but are not there yet.

Do not let this replace the Elite Video that No Field Five and Billy the Kid have. The equipment is top of the line and you get their critique which is second to none. The Video is well worth the time and money. We recommand it. The IPAD will assist you when at home but is not a replacement for the video.

Thanks to Goldfinger for telling us about the APP.

Thanks Doc for the answer! If you do get the dice faces to show after your experimentation with the slow motion then please update me if you would be so kind.

As for the Elite video it is a great thing. I have done it once and may repeat it again in the future. NFF and Billy are second to none with this great analysis tool. In the mean time though I need that "home tool" to keep moving forward with my practice sessions.

Thanks again! 🙂

Getagrip,

See the post I made concerning Goldfinger’s new coach. He talks about scratching your finger on the slopro app to move the video frame by frame. Maybe this will help you with this new app.

Hope it helps.

Doc, I just read the post that you suggested.

Thanks Doc and Goldfinger for the information. I think I will go to the store to check out the IPad possibilities the next time I am in the USA. Sounds like it could work well for me! 🙂

great idea!
I downloaded it on my Iphone (there were two types for free) and attached it to my tripod with the practice rig… nice job!
I still intend to do the real video analysis this Summer, but this sure helps out in the meantime.
while it is not the best quality, I immediately saw flaws in my release.
it IS a journey!

Doc I have quite a few Apps on the iPad and also some high end stuff on my video workstation. But this Slow Pro is great! I went ahead and paid the $3.99 for the upgrade and let me tell you, this is good stuff.

You can slow the frames down to 500 frames per second (1 second of video is 30 frames……actually 29.997 but let’s not get picky). It can even go to 1000 frames per second, but I found waiting two minutes just to get thought the backswing was a bit much. 500 seems to be a good rate.

You can also speed it up. I found that doing three shots, then getting the app to speed up the parts you donT care about, and slow down just the swing, and forward release , and dice traveling in the air, then speed up again…….was the most efficient use for me.

For fun, search for the App, "Action Movie". Totally off-topic, but a fun little app made by J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot Productions, the folks who made Lost, Alias, Fringe, the new Star Trek movies, Super 8, and I guess now they are working with Lucas and Disney to make Star Wars VII.

I guess I am missing something as I don’t see a fast forward on the playback. Are you viewing in another app?

Thanks

Jim

Doc,
I think because SectionEight upgraded his SloPro, he has the option to slow it down to 500/1000 or to speed it up to get through the "unnecessary" sections of analysis. Pay the $3.99 and get the options.

WOW a great App, but you still can’t convince an Microsoft guy like me to get an IPad!

Dom,
I don’t have an Ianything either. Do you know of anything Microsoft based that will work instead?
