Trip repoprt Valley Forge 11/15/2012

Spread the love

I posted a trip report earlier today about this trip and although the system said it had been successfully submitted I still don’t see it posted.
short version is my wife and I visited Valley Forge Casino today for about 2hrs. This was my first live play since my stroke in May. It all went very well. the initial post has a detailed report of my experiance but I don’t want to go thru it all again in detail.I held the dice three times with hands of 14,27,18I think. Those counts may not be real accurate. My second hand was the longest with a long string of 9s and 5s with several hardways nixed in. I was making pass line and comebets with max odds x3x4x5. I came home up monetarily and very up emotionally. My longest hand took about 25 min. and my legs were screaming. On my last hand I was sitting down in my scooter chair between throws and the stick was having to remind me that I was the shooter. The suit standing behind the box person was getting aggravated so when th players pass the dice around to me I colored up instead of shooting. his really the only problem I had. The box person recognized me from last summer when I played at a casino he was dealing at. When I was playing with my brothers and nephews. I held the dice for about40 min that night and he mentioned it during my second hand.My shot looked great today nice and soft with the dice finishing wiehin a few inches of each other near the base of the wall. Repeating numbers 9s and 5s mostlyusing the hardways fives up threes facing me. Also had a nice string of comeout 7s using the all 7s set. Mel was so excited for me on the way home she missed the turnpike entrance. I have been dreaming about this day for months and the reality exceeded the dream. I am very grateful for all the help my mentor and the rest of the instructors have given me at the last two refreshers I took last year. The docs say my brain is rewireing itself. maybe I got lucky and all that help is finally getting connected. 😀

I guess the highlight of this session was, the point was 8. I was useing the hardways set fives facing me 4s up. Made the point. Placed a $10 pass bet,set all 7s went through my preshot routine and threw a 5:2. Put the $10 in the rack. ran off a string of 7s pressing my pass bet $5 with each win. I eventually set the point at 9.
Now I have a pass line bet of $30 so max odds x4 would require $120. I hesitate because this bet would be a little outside my comfort level at this time and I don’t have enough profit to cover this spread but I do have enough in the rack so I place the odds bet. Now Melanie decides to play takes $10 out of my rack and makes a Come bet. I throw a 3:2. She puts $40 in odds on it and makes another come bet. Now I throw a 6:4. We put up x5 odds, she alraedy has a $24 8placed which I hit on the next throw with a 4:4. We now have a small stack of white chips in front of us. She asks me" I want to tip the dealers for getting me the chair to sit in." I tell her " we already have a dealer bet on top of our passline bet." It’s only a dollar" she protests.I take four whites hand them to the stick and say"put one on each hardway for the dealers
."The dealers and the box thank me and now more impotant Mel is happy. I am nervous I now have $150 riding on my passline bet and $50 each on the two come bets 5 and 10 as well as Mel’s original place bet and a $10 come bet that Mel just placed. This is a $234 spread which is more than my usual $90.
Stick taps the table and says"don’t you want a hard way for yourself?" "no thanks I reply". I have almost half my rack at risk now. The box man who I realize remembers me from AC is laughing at all this and says" Bill your wife should buy in and play with her own chips".So I toss her player card to him and give Mel some of my chips. I get refocused go thru my preshot routine and throw a 5:5. winning the come bet on the 10 and the dealers hard ten. Next is a hard 6 followed by a 3:2 winning the come bet on the 5. A few garbage numbers then 5:4 point winner. I am placing come bets with max odds after each winner.
Next point is a nine followed by a hard 4. I procede to throw a string of 9s and have the come bet tango going. after a hand lasting 30 min I have lost count of how many throws I have in this hand,I think it was a 27 or 28, because Mel starts useing my counting chips to make come bets lol.I seven out with a $175 spread on the table to alot of cheers.A very nice money making hand.
This next part is the mind bender. The player at SR1 has been come betting like me and has a nice full rack. He leans in front of the stick and says"I’ve never seen so many nines in a row. Are you trying to do that?" I respond " no just trying to throw the same way every time." by now a suit has shown up and is standing behind the box man.
The box says to SR1" George here is a GTC’r". "what’s that the player asks? the box replies "Googgle GTC". I am blown away by this exchange. The suit is viably pissed and barks something I don’t catch in the box man’s ear. The box’s reply is easy to hear. "what’s the problem? they are all playing red and whites and he hit the back wall with both die every time."I am embaressed at attracting all this attention and have not said a word to anyone.
The box person gets changed out as he and the suit continue thier conversation, I hear parts of it. The box man says" This is good for buisness not bad. He created more excitment on this table than ‘i have seen in weeks. My game is packed and we should probably open another table"We made some good money here."players are coloring up and passing the dice cause this is stsrting to get ugly.
The dice come to me but I am not sure if I shoud throw or not. I place a min pass line bet and throw. My legs are very tired so I am sitting between throws and the stick is reminding me repeatedly that I am the shooter.
The suit is still upset and glaring at me. I make my point, I forget what itwas, color up. Grab my black and green chips put them in my shirt pocket push the few reds and whites to the box with a" this is for the crew."Day over. The box that had the issues with the suit comes around to my side and apologizes for the scene.I apologize telling him" I am sorry my play created a problem for you". He says" you didn’t" my boss was out of line".
"By the way thanks for the action" this crew made more in tips in the last hour than they made in the last two days. " yeah thanks the stick adds.we have a short conversation about my medical issues and they tell me I am always welcome at thier tables.I leave with a nice bump to my 401 G and an emotional bump as well. As Mel drives us home with me in back seat of the van I am replaying the events of this afternoon in my head and I am sure I didn’t do anything wrong or anything GTC would object to.As I replayed my session in my head I was getting teary eyed realizing I had done what I had been afraid I would never be able to do again. We start talking about the great time we had and I realize she has tears running down her face. Now both of us are crying lol. Again many thanks to my mentor and the instructors who had the patience to stick with me over the past two years. sometimes I felt like the denseest brick in the wall. Also thanks to the many people who have given me all the kind words of support on my GTC journey.you folks are the best.

What a great story, my friend!

That’s the way its supposed to work. Funny how those casinos hate to lose, isn’t it? 😉

I’ll look forward to your next post. In the meantime, hang onto that wallet of yours…!

Butcher,

It was a pleasure reading your story. Not only were you able to overcome your medical issues but were able to perform admirably under extreme pressure. Do not waste any time giving that suit a second thought. There are individuals like him in this industry who do not seem to know they are in the customer service business. It is very rare for the workers to be critical of their boss. The box man’s comments and treatment by the dealers validate your appropriate and appreciated demeanor at the table.

Congratulations on your accomplishment. You are an honor to GTC.

The suit was not upset that we were winning or that I was setting the dice. He was mad at the box for mentioning GTC and how to find it online. In retrospect it was funny. I thought it was strange that the player at SR1 who colored up and followed me to the cashier never spoke another word to me nor did he ask me about GTC since he was very impressed with what I was doing and seemed very interested in finding out more about it..After that argument between the box and the suit I think the rest of the players were afraid to talk with me Not that I would have discussed it with anyone in the casino.Plus Mel and I left for home as soon as I was done at the cashier. The spectacle aside I really like this casino. They have black jack, spanish 21.paigow poker, paigow tiles, baccarat, mini baccarat and a few roulette tables with min limits ranging from $10 to $25.No shops but a cafe with good food and a resturant. This casino is located in the Radison Inn hotel on Gulph road in Valley Forge. If anyone wants more detailed info on the tables message me.

Folowing a gruelling workout at the YMCA yesterday we went to Valley Forge tonight. The place was packed. All four tables were packed especially the low limit tables. Finally I notice a player at SL1 on one of the $10 tables is down to just a few reds and whites. So I pull up well behind him to wait.

About ten min go by and he turns around, looks at me and asks" you want to get in here"?"I haven’t made a point since dinner time." I thank him and as he moves back I pull my chair up to a point where I can stand up in SL1. Of course the guy in SL2 decides this is his chance to spread out and takes a step to his right leaving me no room to stand. He actually bumped me hard enough to send me into the stick. Fortunately he didn’t bump me hard enough to knock me down. I regained my balance and since my stumble had brought the game to a halt I bought in not realizing the player to my left was the shooter. It took close to an hour for the dice to come around to me.

My legs were already getting tired but I gathered myself, set 7s and managed 2 comeout 7s to start. I set the point with a 2:2 then proceded to five count myself. Once I passed the five count I put 3x odds behind and made a min come bet. That became an 8. Then made another min come bet up on th 9 and put 5x odds on the 8 an 4x on the 9. I now had three numbers working. I made my point after a few throws. Come out was a 10. Then hit the nine. The hand was a teener about 14 but I made a little $. I only got the dice that one time. By the time the dice were a few players away my legs were giving out.

So my brother, my wife and I decided it was getting late and it was time to go. A short evening but we had fun. The box from my previous visit was working but not the table I was on. The suit was there and he watched me throw for a few min, said "HI". then wandered over to another table.Had a great time playing with my brother. He doesn’t have a controlled throw but I have him betting the GTC way. He wants to take a class but with a daughter starting college this fall money is short, maybe when she gets out of school. At least he knows and uses the five count and is begining to understand and respect the math of the game. It was a fun night.

William/Butcher
Thank you for sharing that great story. You showed a lot of grit and determination to regain your form. This goes to show how some of the best GTC members will let nothing get in their way of success at the tables!

I think that the more I play at the casinos the more I improve at having a thick skin. I have met many nice people at the tables but there is often a toad or two also and it helps to have a thick skin when the toads show up. Thanks for all the kind words and encouagment all.

I really enjoyed reading your report. I’m sure it was you here at the house earlier this year before your health crisis. Keep up the great progress. We are planning a 6 week craps tour for the late spring early summer in 2013. Maybe we will be able to hook up somewhere.

WilliamRF Can I make a suggestion ? When you get a little tired legs just ask were the nearest rest room is and even if you dont need to go just get away from standing may help you get to throw again and save you a little on RRs.
I have been doing this more often now that I am getting older. The legs are not like they use to be.
Good Rolling. 😀 😀

Thanks Finisher, I have my scooter chair to sit in and I did make a scoot to the rest room but when I got back the dice had only moved one player. If I had stayed at the table in my chair I could have thrown again but the table was crowded and everytime a player would leave two would buy in and take thier place. With players coloring up, buying in and throwing the dice off the table the play was very slow and I just wasn’t having fun anymore, my wife was bored my brother, who is a middle school teacher had a school event on Saturday and it was just time to go home. I’ll play again later this week.
