Hope the only effect the Storm had on anyone was to keep you inside and you used the time productively.
No tree down on Long Island near you Frank!

We have been very fortunate with Sandy in Canada compared to our cousens to the south along the eastern seaboard. The news reports have been showing all the flooding and damage.

As a Side: Last Sat night we were watching the CTV National News at Night and announcer said that she thought she would never hear her name mentioned as per a disaster on the National News. Yes her name is "Sandy Rinaldo". This is true………

I managed to get back from the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas with my wife in time for the storm. But, we were pretty lucky.
No rain to speak of, so when we lost power our basement did not flood with a sump running on the battery back up. Lost power at 8:10 PM on Mon. Power came back on at 7:15 PM today. Only without power for 23 hours when we heard it could be as long as 7 to 10 days.
Minor damage from the high winds. Lost a 30 foot tree, about a dozen shingles from the roof and a down spout blew off from the front of the house. I found all the pieces in the backyard and was able to put it back in place thanks to the help from one of my son’s friend who stopped by to see if we needed anything. I bet he did not expect to be climbing 30′ up a ladder when he came by.
Drove around the area to check things out. Saw a lot of downed trees, some really huge. Saw a car with a tree that went through the front windshield and driver’s window. Miraculously, the driver was unharmed. He must of ducked into the passenger seat because there was no room for him in the driver’s seat with that tree there.
Been watching the news since the power came back. There is lots of devastation thru a lot of NJ. We were lucky to only have minimal damage.

The lines for fuel at the few working gas stations are crazy . It was 2;hours at the rest stops gas station. On the Garden State Parkway
I told my wife a month ago that I wanted to get a whole house natural gas generator. She said no way we dus niy need it. She now realizes she was wrong.
Charging cell phones is an adventure every day.
I am sorry if getting used to no power it us a strange lifestyle. I think that it is a novelty now but it will soon get ugly as people start to run out of the basics.

Raging Baritone does not have power either. But he has a generator for power so he is doing fine. He needed gas today for the generator. I told him where I saw gas stations that were pumping and he was going to go out to find gas to keep the generator running.

Scan is correct. The above pictures were photoshopped and are not real.

Seriously though, I hope all of our GTC family impacted by Sandy come through this relatively unscathed.
