Frustrated

Spread the love

I am getting so frustrated, but I know this could take years to master a true controlled throw.

I just can’t accept that I can throw sets of 25,30 in practice I’ve even come close to 40 but when it counts just as start feel I’m getting in the groove, boom I throw that 7?

It’s just very frustrateing when I watch guys grab those dice and just hurl them down the table hitting everything in sight and last longer than me on their roll…

I’m guessing many people have gone through this frustration.

I’m going through the same thing right now.I usually play twice a month.I won six trips in a row.Thought I finally had it figured out. Then boom lost my last four trips.Played the same casinos shot the same(?)but different results.I wish I had an answer for you and me,but I don’t.Yes it is frustrating.Any help for us out there? The chicken feeders having longer rolls and making money is like rubbing salt in the wound.

Guys,
This seems to be part of the deal.
I went through the same thing.
It is almost as if the harder you work the more negative influence you have on the dice.
This will pass and the results will get more consistent.

What seemed to help me was my live casino play started out as table min for quite some time.(Pass line with 1x odds place 6&8)
The idea was to treat it as practice with very little money at risk and no concern about winning much money.
You learn the table you like to play as well as you know your own table or practice rig.
you learn to deal with all the distraction and aggravation that goes with a live game without risking much money.

When all this becomes normal to you, your confidence in what you do will increase.
That confidence will tell you when it is time to step up your game.
This is not something you can rush or force just because you want to play.
Build slow and build a solid foundation all we be well in the end.

Good luck in this effort.

Hi!

Hereโ€™s my two cents for what it may be worth.

Yes, this thing we do can cause major frustrations. Some days I am not only frustrated, I want to break every piece of furniture in my dice studio! ๐Ÿ‘ฟ This game will teach you humility and when you do it right it is extremely satisfying—even in practice. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

You just have to keep going and working through it and analyzing your dice throw if you want to get to the satisfying part more often and the frustration less often.

Keep using the 5 count as Frank and Dom suggest and become a smart bettor as many more of our rolls will be in the teens than the long ones. Get your money back off the table first before you โ€œup a unitโ€ or โ€œpull and pressโ€. Take the small wins and they will add up over time. Play low denomination tables if you tend to think about your bankroll when playing in the casino as this will allow you to relax more. Yes, the long rolls that come will be especially sweet but are not what you can count on regularly.

Those people you see winging the dice down the table and winning. Well, you donโ€™t know how many times they have been at the table and how long it has been since they have had a long roll or a win. Luck does come around for them once in a while, otherwise why would they ever return to the Craps table? Besides, they usually stay at the table until they have given all the money back to the casino and more. ๐Ÿ™

Practice and more practice, become the Advantage player in betting and in rolling and welcome to the club! ๐Ÿ™‚

Remember being in the casino is so much different from playing in practice. At first I was simply trying too hard in the casino—thinking too much. Yes you may want to make a few minor adjustments–for example, throw a little lower if the table is a little bouncy, but nothing major. Clear your mind and let the muscle memory kick in. It will come in time.

I know that Alligator Rose and I tend to be worse at the beginning of a trip and things tend to improve over a trip.

Just a small idea.’

Thank you all for the good advice and the confirmation of my suspicion that like most things you Strive to become great at, I guess the best way to put it would be you must " walk before you run"

Although I am frustrated I am not by any means giving up, I can see and feel that I am improving everyday. My video sessions show me that not only am I more consistantly staying on axis but I am hitting my target with the proper amount of velocity more often then not, these are all good things.

I do have a question I hope one of you more experienced guys could answer.

What do you do when someone at the end of the table decides to load up his chips all over your target area? Last night I was on kind of on a roll, hit a few points more important I didn’t lose any $ because I put quarters on the HW’s and hit 6 & 4 immediately so I was comfortable and feeling good. I had just made my 3rd point and the guy at the end of the table wanted in and laid his chips very close to the guy next to him right where I was landing. At a $15 table a whole bunch of reds laying all over the place forced me to alter my mark.
I’m still a beginner so the slightest alteration screws me up. In this case is it acceptable to politely ask them to slide over a bit? Or no? What do you do?

i don’t recommend asking them to move, calls attention to you.

You have to get good enough to move your landing space.

you need legs to walk and the classes wil igve you them.

A true controled shooter can shoot around the chips.

never ask them to move.

PatS,
This is something you can actually practice on.
Since we know we don’t always have the table to ourselves we should practice how to throw around them

Simply place chips on the practice rig layout as they would be on a real table.
Now you have to figure out how to make a good throw and also avoid those pesky chips in the way.

On mine I move them around all the time so it poses a different look which makes me adjust to them.

May the dice be with you

That makes total sense T-Burg I should’ve thought of that. I am so robotic with my practice trying to mimic the throw over and over, but as I see in real play these ideal conditions are not always possible.

Thanks again everyone for the good advice,

Sometimes on the comeout roll, I will aim for the offending stack of chips. If you hit them 2 or 3 times in a row, most people will get the idea and move them without a word being said. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Others are too dense, so asking probably wouldn’t help anyways. ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

Don’t let this silly crap get into your head. the frustration and doubt will have more adverse affect on your results than those chips. If it’s too crowded color up and take a break. this silly crap happens and is part of playing with the ploppies.

Just tonight I was playing and this guy walks up and places his bet right where I am landing. I hit his chips a couple times and no response so I moved slightly to the right and did ok. What a dead head and stupid bets so he wasn’t there long. Made a small profit and came home. Unfortunately most have NO clue so just deal with it even though it does piss you off.

We should never ask someone to remove their chips. Aim for the spaces that are around the chips. The worst thing to do is ask someone to move their chips. Doing this can cause arguments, and the box person or dealers might get involved. The last thing you want to do is to cause attention to yourself. The suggestion of practicing with chips is an excellent one, and is something that a lot of GTC students do.

As you gain control over the dice you must become a target shooter and you must be able to place those dice where you want to place them.

Hello All,
I really appreciate all the great advice and tips, I have documented 600 throws in Smart Craps software and I truly feel it has built my confidence along with the tips you all have offered, I am real comfortable with my practice sessions way less frustrated and my results have improved greatly.

I have been spending time working on my grip as I work on the computer & watch TV lie in bed etc.. Even when I’m being intimate with my girlfriend… lol just a joke, she’d kill me! But truthfully Anytime I’m not throwing dice I’m gripping them. Now I feel much more confident I don’t spend as much time analyzing prior to throwing the dice, it feels as if its coming more natural.

Smart Craps is amazing huh? Not sure if just that its in my head, but the dice sets it tells you to use for certain points is a real confidence builder. I gotta believe I’m doing much better as I have passed the Pro-Test and as of my last 200 recorded rolls,, the set optimizer has changed and now I’m supposed to use 2:4/2:4 for all points. I’m guessing that’s good?

However I do have another question can’t find the answer in the books, I believe my dice have warn down? Their not as sharp on the corners anymore, I’ve ordered new dice but I’m guessing they wear out after a while huh?

Use the Advance Search capabilities of this site, there are some older posts about worn dice and how long you should use them.
Yes, they do wear out, and you will be surprised at results when you get those new dice in the mail.
They will act differently. I usually get new/replacements after a thousand or so rolls, especially prior to any extended real time sessions that may be coming up on the calendar.

Got my new dice yesterday, wow! What a difference, as usual you guys are right on the money. Funny how just as I feel as if I got the toss down, I realized something that I haven’t been fully paying enough attention too.
For instence, I have been trying so hard to concentrate on keeping the dice on axis and to fly together in the air that haven’t paid too much attention to the force I use to throw them. I noticed that some throws would hit the table harder then the last throw, or more revolutions than the last throw. So I figured I could be more consistent if I threw them the same speed each time.

This morning I had a practice session paying attention to finding the proper amount of force or speed to throw them and tried to be consistent as well as trying to keep on axis. I know something was going on because I had my right die lagging with each throw but they were still landing ok. I think I may be gripping a bit too tight ? Can a tight grip cause one die to lag behind the other a bit? If so is it a finger adjustment or Thumb adjustment?

Thanks,
PatS

Remember,
You will have more losing sessions than winning. But the winning sessions will way overcompensate for to losing ones. Read about Frank in Vegas earlier this year. Bottomed out. Do you think because of that trip he’s done? No way. Some day’s even guy’s like Frank and Dom are off. Don’t ever give up. Yes this is work. It amazes me how many people just give up in anything so soon. I have been trying to do the perfect throw for 2.5 years. I am light years away from where I was when I started. My whole problem now is in my head. I need to master what is inside as well as outside. You’re not alone buddy. Keep the faith!!! ๐Ÿ˜€
