World We Live In

Freedom of Speech and the Arab Spring

Spread the love

There are now riots all over the Muslim world. They claim they are rioting against some short film that depicts the prophet Muhammad as a pedophile and murderer. Many people who have seen this film, I haven’t by the way, say it is disgusting and poorly made.

The Democrats and our political leaders are coming down against the film. Hey, you can say whatever you want about the film. But there is talk about trying to censor it. Youtube has removed it.

Why?

We have freedom of speech in America even if that speech is idiotic. So what if the Muslims riot? Are we to give up one of our inalienable rights because religious fanatics are murderous? Are we going to let their violence control us? If they kill our people at our embassy in their country, they have attacked us. We should give some serious thought to telling them they might not be getting any more help from us.

I see them rioting and think do I want these people to control the world as they want to. There is a great documentary posted on this site. See it and get an idea of what these bastards are all about.

Don’t allow the Muslims to take away our rights!

The guy who made the film has been taken in for "questioning." The press (at least Yahoo) uses his past criminal behavior as a reason for bringing him in. We may be going down the censorship route.

So much for the first amendment with this regime……at least if you have an unapproved opinion of the religion of peace. Gee I wonder whose toes he stepped on? Could it be "O"?

The Muslims get what they want through violence and we have to react to their violence. The left thinks we can talk to them. They will talk until Iran explodes a nuc in Israel and then we will look sternly into the camera and say "We that was not nice to destroy Israel."

I don’t think Youtube has removed the video. In fact I found it on the web just before posting this. I only watched about 2 minutes of it because it is 13:51 minutes long and I did not want to waste that much time on it. But it has not been removed and it is still viewable. Below is an excerpt from an article about it.

The company determined that the video was within guidelines.

"We work hard to create a community everyone can enjoy and which also enables people to express different opinions," a Google spokeswoman said. "This can be a challenge because what’s OK in one country can be offensive elsewhere. This video — which is widely available on the Web — is clearly within our guidelines and so will stay on YouTube. However, we’ve restricted access to it in countries where it is illegal such as India and Indonesia as well as in Libya and Egypt given the very sensitive situations in these two countries."

I don’t know how I feel about this issue and YouTube not taking down the video. My mind says this is American and everyone no matter how disgusting their ideas may be have the right to Free Speech and so the video should stay up; however, my heart is concerned with how this affects my country men/women still in the Middle East trying to protect our freedom so I wish the person who posted the video would take it done. The people in the Middle East don’t have freedom of speech so that can’t understand when we try to explain to them that the US Government doesn’t have the same opinion of Islam. Sometimes I wish people would think about those over in the Middle East protecting their freedom before they do things like burn books and post videos that could cost a service member their lives.

This Video has been up on You Tube since early June. Does anyone have a concern with the timing of these attacks, hmmmm. September 11th, now why on earth would someone want to do this on that particular date. Why not in July or even June when it first appeared. Please, this was a planned attack on our folks, not the spontaneous demonstration of righteous indignation we are lead to believe. I do not believe there is a coincidence here, do you, really.

Every time we apologize for some misstep that the Islamists take offense to it just exacerbates the situation. It’s like pouring gas on a fire. In our world when you transgress and confess your sins you receive absolution, understanding and redemption. In their world to confess your sins brings on a stoning and terror. "Ah so you confess your wickedness’s, we despise you all the more". For Christs sake, stop apologizing to these bastards. give them a disgusted look, say nothing at all or tell them "Yea, so what".

As far as our troops are concerned, why wait for 2014 to withdraw. Get them out now, cut off all these bastards $$$ and say Good Riddance.

Even the Libyan President has said this was a planned attack that had nothing to do with the movie.

I think Florida Congressman, Colonel Allen West had the best description for the administration’s explanation that this was not a planned attack.

Sources in Libya told Fox News’ chief intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge that there were no demonstrations in Benghazi, Libya, before the attack on the U.S. Consulate and had nothing to do with the movie. Click on the video in the following link to get the details.

We can’t allow maniacs living in the 11th century to determine what our citizens can and can’t write or make movies about — even if the stuff sucks. If we cave in to their caveman ways we are giving up our freedoms. I agree with StephenC — let’s take our money and go home!

Then let us develop right now all of our coal, oil in Alaska and off shore and fracking so we can say to China. You can deal with these lunatics. We are self sufficient!
