Hi Scan, dice sliding is a crime and it is one of the few "crimes" in craps. Dice substitution, loaded dice, and just plain taking chips off the table or from another’s rack are some of the others. Dice control is not a crime since you are not doing anything the casino doesn’t allow you to do. Sliding is a crime.

Many years ago (so much of my memory has now become "many years ago") I was writing a television show ("What Would You Do If?" for the Travel Channel) and I went to the Las Vegas Casino Control Commission to ask them questions about the law and they told me point blank that dice control was not illegal and they defined those activities that were illegal — dice sliding among them.

By the way, some casinos have that rule where you can’t have your arm extend over the middle of the table over the Crazy Crapper bets and many players think this is done to thwart dice control. It isn’t. Some shooters try to scoop bets up as their arm goes over the middle of the table.

I didn’t realize the no hands going over the middle was actually a security measure. I thought it was an attempt to keep the controlled shooters somewhat farther away from the back wall. You learn something new every day.

I know that dice sliding is illegal. It is also so easy to see and these people just put their own handcuffs on. Idiots!

They must have been great "sliders" because of the tables at Wynn
