Cruise Ship Craps

Spread the love

Next week I am going on a cruise and was wondering if anybody has knowledge of the craps play on a ship?

What length tables do they use
What odds do they offer
Do the dealers take tips
Are they friendly to dice setters
etc.

Hi Kyle

I can answer some of your questions. Suggest you check Randmans list for Cruise Ships. You didn’t mention the Cruise Line but they are all similar

1) Lenght of tables and Number Depends usually only 1 table and 12-14 foot. The Oasis of the Seas has 2 tables ,1 in smoking and 1 in non-smoking

2) Odds poor usually 1x but some at 2x

3) Depends on the line one one ship I put $1 on my line bet and was told I could not do it Go figure.

4)I have never had a problem setting the dice on cruise ships. I always hit the backwall.

Best advise if low odds consider Place bets. But the best advise is to enjoy the cruise, the shows, the shore tours and all the food.

Have a great trip

First day, just casually ask what the rules are for this ship! Sometimes when they are showing people how to play, usually the first day, that could be brought up.

Therefore you will be on game and not have to think about what you want to do when the time comes.

My last cruise – no piggyback, no controlling a side bet, minimal odds, BUT friendly dealers that one evening after I finished with a 48 and the table was empty, they tried throwing like I was doing. It was hilarious.

If the seas are a-rockin’ save your throw for later.

Good luck!

My wife and I are members of loyalty programs from several cruise lines. Each cruise line has its own set of rules. The physical table conditions vary from ship to ship. I have never seen anything longer than 14 ft.. Most ship based casinos are run by outside contract workers, not the cruise line itself. If anyone would like to,I can try to find out specific conditions for a specific ship. Celebrity does offer 3x4x5x odds on all their ships. Please feel free to e-mail me for specifics.

Thanks for all the great information i really like Franks experience, because we are also heading to Alaska.

I am sure that i will enjoy the cruise all by itself and since I am a new-be to controlled shooting I will enjoy the practice at the table.

I love cruise craps and have done very well on some ships.

Dealers are very friendly once they learn you tip.

Depending on the box person, the worst thing you can do is not hit the back wall.

I have a preference on cruise lines, some are more favorable than others.

Watch out for rough seas!

Please send me a email thru the site for any specifics you may have.

I enjoyed the cruises I’ve been on but I played very little. The games are just so so and the dealers tend to be really not experienced. I spent most of my time eating and feeling guilty.

Does the rocking of the ship cause problems? Or are these ships so big they don’t rock? I’ve never been on a cruise but the wife is bugging me about them.

Most of the time the boat is okay and you can play the game. But there are times when the waves really rock the boat. On those times don’t play and stay near your bathroom!

Bob

Yes the rocking can cause some problems. It will depend on the size of the ship. All the cruise ships have stabilizers so the rocking is small. My wife and I have cruised to Hawai, around South America and from Australia to New Zeland and have never had a problem and never been sea sick. Last Sept we were on the new Oasis of the Seas and we hardly new we were moving.

We find cruising is the best deal. Deceide where you would like to go, then go on the major cruise line websites and sign up for their selloff specials or check with a travel agent that specializes in cruises. I do not go on a cruise to play craps (But I still play a little) but to enjoy the ports, entertainment and all the food etc etc etc

Enjoy your future cruise.

And don’t forget to bring a larger belt because you will definitely gain weight.

I’ve heard salt air is fattening. 😉

An average of a pound a day, they say!

The way some people seem to load up their plates, I think they think there is not going to be anymore food later in the day.

Go to the sit down meals in the dining rooms, and be served as if you are royalty. The staff on all of our cruises have been exemptional!!!

If the seas are rough, stay away from the tables.

If you do want to play watch, and the tables seem to clear out quite often. So getting your spot and a empty table is possible.

KyleB, This is too late for your Sept. cruise but for future cruises. I cruised out of Baltimore, MD in August and I always check the table upon arrival. The landing zone on this 12 ft. table had 3 slight ridges under the felt running from side to side. They were not visible to the eye. Running your hand over the LZ clearly revealed them. This is not always the case on ships so it pays to check. I held a die flat to the surface, about 8 inches high and drop it in the landing area; it bounced about two feet or more when it hit a ridge.
