Sharpshooter bet

Spread the love

In Colorado as many of you know some of our casinos have unleashed the fire bet. The fire bet is a crazy bet, but one of the casinos did an alternate (with the same payout) called the sharpshooter… At the table everyone was playing it and shouting sharpshooter this and sharpshooter that… I thought I was going to meet the real Sharpshooter until I figured out what they all were on about. The sharpshooter is just like the firebet except repeated points count. If you plan to make at least 3 points (even if you just hit the same number repeatedly) it makes sense to bet it.
In my mind a good bet is where you win money and a bad bet is where you lose money (end up with less than you started). The math says you will lose mmore than you win, and I would never bet it on a random shooter, but doesnt it make sense if you know the controlled shooter can do it to take advantage and beat the house at their own game?

Pays according to how many times shooter makes a point(1 to 10)

Depending on the bet and the Pay Table:

A house edge of 21.87%.

Sharp Shooter

The "Sharp Shooter" is a side bet in craps made when a new shooter takes the dice, and pays according to how many times he makes a point. The follow table shows what each number of points made pays and the probability. Pays are shown on a "to one" basis. The lower right cell shows a house edge of 21.87%.

Recently CCRoller, Sharpshooter, Sharpshooter’s son, and I were playing together at a table.

My wife, who is published author, and Sharpshooter traded autographed books.

A group that I play with often have Sharpshooter as a part of the group.

When I first met Sharpshooter, I was surprised at how young he looked in comparison to all of the older members of GTC.

definitely a group I would want to play with 🙂
At the RiB-ee-air-uh (or email me for the real name) the limit was 25.

I enjoy studying player. I probably shouldn’t comment but:

One of the things I like to study is the betting habits of players. Sharpshooter and his son are very conservative bettors.

He is teaching his son very well.

I make a $2 – $5 fire bet once in a while when I"ve got the dice ( I hit it once when I didn’t have it bet! ). My rationalization is that it is no worse a use of your money than making a bet for the dealers or tipping the drink person. Except that the fire bet won’t move back from the stick when you’re shooting or make sure your water bottle is fresh….or your beer bottle, if you’ve just shot a 30 roll hand and are ready to leave.

Where is this bet played?

The bets are placed up near the box man like the fire bets are. We played this last week in Indiana made a 5 # roll , but it don’t pay well like the true fire bet. We only bet this on our rolls, knowing we had the edge to make 3 or more points.

Mike-ro…..

Do not even hint at names of casinos. E-mail answers to these type questions direct and not on this board.

The Sharpshooter bet is still in test mode here in Colorado. The Fire Bet is on the October agenda at the gaming commission’s meeting. The casinos have their choice of 4 pay tables. The assholes here are "generously" paying $299 for all 6 hits. I would probably bet $5 a year if it paid $999 but for $299 they can kiss my ass.

In simple terms Sharpshooter is an additional bet you make before a new shooter starts their roll.

Different pay tables exist depending on how many points are established and made before that shooter sevens out.

I’ve been told the most common table pays 299 for 1, ie you get $1,495 back if you bet $5 on it and the shooter makes 10 points. If I remember right the shooter has to make three points before you make anything on it. House advantage is 21+%.

Not a recommended bet.

I was at casino that pays 7.00 for 3rd point 25.00 for 4 th point ? for 5th point and 300 for 6th point.

Was at table when the fire was made for 4 th point but no one was on it and dealer said the 6 th point was made the night before with no body on it.
