Do I have an Edge?

Spread the love

The reason I’m posting this is for those of us who aren’t satisfied or happy with our practice results, Brothelman is absolutely correct when he said "experimenting is the only way to find out what you like" and what works for you. Persistence and practice are the key!

100 recorded practice rolls; 1129 throws of the dice in the 19 days since changing the way I stand when I throw. Not much in the way of recorded history but I’m happy with the results so far.

I use a excel spreadsheet to record my rolls, different pages give me a variety of perspectives on the accumulated data including the different wagering options recommended by GTC. {the big Skinny, place pull & press, place pull – press 1 unit Etc}

I use the V3 in practice, practice sessions are usually 3 rolls spaced approximately 15 minutes apart. I seem to run 50/50 for being on/off axis, and still throw far too many double pitches but I’m a work in progress 😉

Here’s the accumulated results for the 100 rolls:

SRR; 7.58
Average length of my rolls; 11.29

9 rolls of 3 or less
35 rolls between 4 and 8
14 rolls between 9 and 11
50 rolls between 9 and 24
41 rolls between 12 and 39
6 rolls at 25 or longer
1 roll at 40

One of the things I wanted to look at was the frequency I threw a specific number at least 1 time during a roll.

The 4; 57%
The 5; 78%
The 6; 78%
The 8; 79%
The 9; 73%
The 10; 56%

Of the betting strategies the place pull – press 1 unit method is best suited for the way I throw. With 35 winning sessions and 7 losing sessions.

Of course this is from using my GTC practice table and I am accustomed to the bounce of this table. Casino tables are different but once I have made the adjustment I am optimistic that the results will be reasonably close to the practice results.

So, do I have an edge? I believe I have a slight advantage that I can exploit with a disciplined betting strategy.

Next month I’ll be on a 15-16 day road trip visiting at least 6-7 casinos along the way. It will be an interesting reality check 🙂 till then it’s practice and practice

Great analysis! Yes, you do have an edge, and with your discipline and practice, it will only get better. I’m looking forward to rolling with you in SBC. Good luck at the other stops you will be making. We expect a great trip report. 😀

HowardF; Thanks Howard. I am a beginner with GTC but not with the game of craps. This really helps to keep things in perspective when I practice. I see the value in disciplined practice and working through the normal frustration. I am looking forward to my first class in
Vegas in October and meanwhile keep practicing every day and learning all the rules governing smart play. After 40 years of CF, I’m ready to try something new. Thank you once again for your informative post. DougD

I was a total loser before GTC. It took me a little time to get that throw right and my betting had to become much better. But I am now ahead for a couple of years and I play a lot! Taking the course was great. You learn so much and the teachers are just fantastic.

Welcome to GTC Doug, you will learn more than you can imagine from GTC’s best at the primary in Oct. I recommend you read all the posts in the wisdom section and concentrate on the 3 finger grip for practice. From personal experience I don’t recommend throwing in practice before the class as it will continue to reinforce the 40 years of accumulated habits. Not throwing will allow those habits time to fade away and will make adsorbing and imprinting what the instructors will show you much easier.

I too am looking forward to meeting and playing with you and the others at SBC. Only planning on short casino stops on the way and will be taking notes for a trip report.

Hi Howard; Thanks for the advice. I just don’t know what else to do with myself until then. I’ve done the reading and practice the grip but I understand what you are saying. Maybe it’s better I just relax and let things settle down. I have big fingers and the three finger grip feels less comfortable but what do I know. Thanks again for the feedback. DougD

Hi HowardF:
Your results and SRR definitely show that you have an edge and influence over the dice. My recommendation to you is that you should practice with the hardway set so that you can someday transfer all of your data into Smart Craps. The SC program does not allow data input using the 3v set. Using the hardway, it is easier to keep track of primary and secondary hits while trying to remove all 6’s and 1’s from your results.

Keep up the good work at the practice table.

Mark
