Craps

MILESTONE; 1st 40 roll in practice since changing my stance

Spread the love

Up until the 4th of July I wasn’t happy with the my roll results during practice, way too many crap numbers and 7’s. My grip, swing and release were looking ok in the mirror so I decided to try a completely different stance.

Went to the "Stickman" way of standing while throwing {modified slightly}, since changing there has been a significant change in the crap vs box number ratio, improvement in my SRR and average roll length. The additional height seems to make it easier to drop into the landing zone at a 45 degree angle

It took me 74 recorded rolls and 868 throws to hit this milestone; I am one happy camper!!!

I know long rolls are the exception but that doesn’t dampen the feeling of accomplishment.

What is the "Stickman" way of standing?
Is the improvement still holding true?

When I saw him throw in class last year he was all the way up on his toes, left arm as a brace, leaning out over the table at a 45-55 degree angle. He looked like he was 9 feet tall and throwing from the center of the table. Awesome sight!!!

I’ll need to record a lot more rolls to see if it holds true but I sure like the way it’s going. I’m also using a slightly modified full C grip {old thumb injury} Thumb placement appears to be critical, off just a tiny bit and I see a horrendous increase in double pitches. Good motivation to pay attention on every throw.

Frank said that Stickman has the ultimate model of the throw and he is right. He was a beauty to behold.

Great job. It amazes me how little changes can have a big effect.

I read somewhere that Don Mattingly used to get up in the middle of the night and practice his stance.

it is so important to feel comfortable at the table

Doesn’t Dominator have that same tip toe stance when he shoots from the left? I thought I saw him do that in class

John,

You need to pick a website name. Your real name gives the casinos on this site too much info.

….

By 74 recorded rolls do you imply 74 sevens within the 868 throws? … for an SRR of about 12?
That would be enviable. Good job.

I wish! Hopefully one day I’ll get there.

As of last night I was at 85 recorded rolls, 966 throws, 128 7s for an SRR of 7.55 and an average roll length of 11.36.

9% or 8 rolls are 3 or less, 35% or 30 rolls between 4 and 8, 46% or 39 rolls between 9 and 24 and 7% or 6 rolls over 24 in length.

Most of the "extra" 7s come at the start of a roll I’m happy to say, tells me I’m off and gives me the opportunity to try and figure out how-where-why and make the correction.
