When i was a kid on Saturday night on our small Tv we watched Paladin, Then Gun smoke and then Saturday night fights.
Mr grand mother used to sit on the edge of the couch and cheer for Matt Dillon. At 63 i can still see that.
I can now watch Gun Smoke everyday at 4 pm if i want and relive those times, many others have said the same.
As a craps player i wonder what those years were like. Then, unlike now there were very few casinos and
i imagine the great craps players were known by name in all the pits in Vegas or Atlantic City.
Times have changed, there are casino’s all over the country, as many you can count yet alone visit. For
me the mystery of that has changed. Though Today i was going through the list of players on the board. A few post
and many do not. As i looked over the list some of the names jump out at you, as if these names belong
not to us but histry in a time when a name meant more .
Imagine if you will the real gamblers of those
days remembering over a 10 cent beer . The names that jump into your mind, Missouri Rick, Slot
machine Kelly, Backjack Barton. Names you cant forget in a craps pit, Aligator Rose, Billy the Kid
Jimmy the Wrench now those were the shooters, you have to include Pit Boss, Sandman, Goddess, shooters
you want at your side when your broke and when you really need a lift there was Captain Jack , Six Shooter, Shady Sadie and Take the Odds.
Those were the good old days when shooters could make a pair of dice dance like a monkey on a string. I can
hear that conversation now, even though all these names live not in the past, but today on our board.
Frank and Dom think back to the Captain and the Arm and i am sure their own memories of what they
have done.
I think today most of us play for money, not memories. Leaving a table with fewer chips but no recollection
of who was at the table because there are so many tables and so many players.
There is no more Bonnie and Clyde cleaned us out last night again,, now it is that old fart was sure
lucky. or imagine that young guy thought he could control the dice……. i guess they just dont know….. who we are. Yet??

Other show we used to watch were Sunday night "The Colgate Variety Hour" and on Saturday "The Hit Parade." There are many more to be sure but too many to name.
