I travel a lot for work. Last year I traveled just at 100,000 miles. I want to continue my practice while I am traveling in the hotel room. Is there a suggested way to do this? Thanks for your advise.

If you can still get on the old site there are several good post on this.

Setting up the bedspread and pillows to act as a receiving station. A chair with a drawer turned upside down for a throwing station, and a tape measure for distance.

Things like that got me through my 2 months in Denver. In some ways it helped me a bunch because the bedspread would catch the dice and I could see if I was having any single or double pitches from my hand to the "table". Helped a lot.

Hitting the bedspread with your fist makes a little pocket for distance practice.

Hope that helps.

Here is an idea I got from Goldfinger. Take a small suitcase–most any kind will do–cut a piece of plywood to fit, cover it with felt, and place in the bottom of the suit case. Lay it on the bed at the correct distance. A tape meausre as mentioned in a prior post on this site will help. For a throwing station I use the desk chair in the room —one without arms. Place a towel over the back–this simulates the rail you lean on. I put the phone book (hopefully a thick one) on the seat of the chair and you have something that resembles a throwing station.

You can also glue some of the diamond shaped rubber on the inside of the suit case to act as the back wall. With the felt covered board on the bottom of the suit case and the diamond shaped rubber as the back wall in the suit case and a make shift throwing station you are good to go. Remember after you warm up and/or practice in the room, you can close up the suit case and no one is the wiser.

You can also use this suit case to pack some of your clothes. It works for us.

Just an idea. I thank GoldFinger for coming up with this idea.

Thanks for the great ideas. This will help. When I’m gone for weeks at a time, my practice suffers and it takes me a while to get back in my groove again.

hello to everyone on the board my name is leftend22 especially to a guy named ron and skinny thanks for the e-mail just a new bee here trying to become a better player, i think i was one of those chicken f. you guys talk about, i do not want to be that anymore, so i acquired franks books and started reading and now i want to get all that money back i lost all those yrs. however its not easy. i built a throwing station out of plywood and felt and backboard. have been practicing 4 months every day . i use the three finger grip with my finger pads. with my arm hanging down i cup my wrist at the bottom and lock it in. i think frank calls this a diagonal grip. as i bring my arm forward and at the top of my swing which is shoulder level i flip the dice off my finger pads and they stay together until the hit they hit the layout, which is another question for another time. any thoughts or comments i will appreciate

flipping is a sin it is not allowed you must learn to let the dice roll out of your hand of there own free will it is in the pressure of the grip that you can do this.

Bman I was in a casino one day and the dealers were showing some one how to control their throw. They flick the dice so hard that I thought they were going off the table. It was a blast seeing what they thought was dice control. They told this guy its all in the wrist. 😀

Good Rolling. 😀
