My Dad was the Social Director at one of the Catskills hotels in Roscoe, NY. (I don’t remember the name right now.) My mother and her sister went there for vacation in 1931, and my parents were married two years later. We spent many holidays at the Fallsview and Nevele hotels in Ellenville, NY. The entertainment was terrific, and there were always other teenagers there with whom to have fun. The 1950’s was a wonderful decade in the Catskills.

It all went downhill with the advent of air travel, and many of the hotels have gone out of business. It certainly served its purpose at the time.
