I have a throwing and receiving station and have been practicing for months now. I have gone to some of the casinos on the east coast and can see my throw is getting much better due to the fact that in the small amount of times I have gone I am taking back more chips than I put on the table. However, the problem exists when I am at home practicing. I would say that on most days 30% – 50% of the time, one of the die is going straight over the top of the receiving station (after it hits the felt). This makes it very difficult to keep an accurate count on my progress and to determine if my throws are consistently landing in the same spot. My grip is definitely not the problem. Due to the high quantity of times this is happening, I have changed my release point. I have tried throwing the dice higher and I have tried throwing them more on a low line drive. With both actions, the same thing occurs, one die goes over the top of the receiving station so I am lost as to what I might be doing wrong.
Does anyone have any ideas?

If I were you David, knowing what lies ahead too, I would get familiar with the dice to the point that you know the pips ( the dots) numbers like the back of your hand. Being that familiar, that you know what numbers are…given two sides that you can see, will speed up your ability to set the dice incredibly.
Setting the dice fast will be an advantage to you in class, not to mention slow dice setting is one of the pet peeves of the casinos…..as if they didn’t have anything else against us.
I would only focus on this as any further skill building or bad habits that form in the next two months will only be that more difficult for you to overcome in class and afterwards.
My two cents….
