How Did You Wind Up On The GTC Site?

How did you get here? We have all had our own path to this site and the craft of dice influencing.

My Story

I became interested in the theory of dice influencing probably some time in the late 1980’s. I had always wondered if it was possible and I would do my own experiments.

Some time in the 1990s I began searching for information of the Internet. There were a couple of web sites, which I believe do not even exist anymore. Other than that there was very little information.

I came across a public craps message board. The topics discussed were come bets vs place bets, playing the field, money management, betting progressions etc. Occasionally someone would bring up dice control. This was usually met with almost universal criticism.
As time went by the dice influencing debate grew. There were the pro-dice influencing posters and the anti-dice influencing posters. At times some of the debate became hostile. There was one poster that posted anti-dice influencing messages daily. I always wondered why he went through the trouble. I figured if he did not agree with it he should just ignore it.

Eventually, some of the dice influencing guys moved away from the public message board and created web sites dedicated to the craft. As I loved the topic I visited all the sites regularly.

One weekend a dice setting class was held in Atlantic City, John Patrick lived in NJ then and he was a guest lecturer. I attended his lecture and met some of the people I had been sharing posts with. For the most part they were all decent guys, they were mostly recreational gamblers looking for an edge.

In September 2002 I became aware of a seminar being conducted in Las Vegas in which the leaders of the different craps web sites were going to speak. It was produced by Jerry Patterson of Parr. Speakers included Heavy of Axis Craps, Larry Edell, and Sharpshooter. The Keynote speaker was Frank Scoblete. At that time Frank did not have a dice influencing web presence. Although he did have his "Rolling Good time" site.
I was very familiar with Frank as I had most of his books, two of his three audio cassettes, and a bunch of copies of his magazine "Chance and Circumstance" (Still one of the best no nonsense gambling magazines ever published) Plus as a person that loves a mystery I was obsessed with finding the identity of "The Captain". ( Which I am sure, I eventually did… and shared with Frank ….. however I will never ever reveal it to anyone else. But I can 100% assure any skeptics that he was a real person)
I ordered audio tapes of the Las Vegas seminar. There was some interesting stuff. I recall Frank warning the attendees that he believed that as the knowledge of dice influencing grew, more and more people would come into the field, claiming they were experts on the subjects. (He was certainly right on that one, since then plenty of sites have popped up with self proclaimed experts, many of them just disappeared after a while)
Some months later there was an Atlantic City Dice Seminar ( I think it was also run by Jerry Patterson) and it is my understanding that at some point during that seminar Frank and Dom decided to create GTC. (If I recall correctly, Frank detailed the history and evolution of GTC in a long post on the board a few years back.)
The GTC site was launched on the internet and had been running for a few months before I signed on for the first time. I read through the posts and found them to be interesting. I saw a few posters I recognized from the other places on the internet. Some are still here. (You know who you are)
I made a few initial posts. They were well received. I assume Frank read these early posts and realized I had knowledge of the subject. He sent me an e-mail asking who I was. I responded by explaining I was a long time practioneer of dice influencing and I had read everything available on the topic. Dom had already knew me from the internet, I soon began posting more frequently.
Meanwhile a rivalry was growing between the rival dice camps.
As I loved the topic of dice influencing and I was always looking for, and sharing information, I did not get involved in the rivalry. I continued reading and posting on a few different sites.
Although I always trey to read as much dice influencing stuff as I can find, I eventually decided to post on the GTC board exclusively.
I have to say that in the years I have been here I have found the members, with few exceptions to be likable, gratuitous and well informed. They really share my interest in dice and casinos in general. They have knowledge of a wide varirty of topics. It has been my pleasure to read the the thoughts, ideas and comments of the boards members.
This site and the forum has certainly evolved over the years. Some long time members left for one reason or another. The nonsense posters such as Mr. Arnold, Bruce Backus, DumDum have faded away (Thank God!). Unfortunately, some of the quality posters have also gone missing but that is the nature of the Internet. The good thing is new members are constantly coming on board. They bring enthusiasm that us "old timers" sometimes forget.

So, what is your story?

I think everyone knows by know that Sandtrap and I were the first GTC students at the Las Vegas Seminar inn 2002. We saw Frank’s table with Dom, BTK, and Bob Finesse. We walked back and forth several times, talking with them, until we finally decided to take their course. At that time, we were in a hotel room with a throwing and receiving station for two days. BTK took me to the coffee shop, explaining the game of craps to me, for two hours. Sandtrap was upstairs immediately, learning the GTC throw. We were really terrible, and apparently Frank and Dom discussed giving us a refund. (Sandtrap is still waiting for it.)

We were told there was a new web site, and that we would be subscribers, and could post if we wished, but it would probably be awhile before others contributed. We were assigned the moniker "M&C", but on the new site we will each have our own monikers of Sandtrap and Goddess (given to me by Frank and Dom).

We have since become GTC’s most ardent supporters, and very successful. We have consistently contributed to the site for the past 10 years, and have obtained wonderful information from other posters.Besides "Craps," we have enjoyed all the other topics as well.

We have also made fantastic friends, and have discovered a new wonderful life for our retirement.

Like most of us. I saw Dice Dominator on the History Channel. The simplicity of the idea intrigued me. I mean really, eliminate one 7 in 42 throws, how hard can that be? 😮 😯

I did a few searches on the internet, looked at a couple of different schools. Decided to get [u]Dice Control Revolution[u] at my local B&N bookstore. I initially had some limited success at my local casino, but all it really was was variance. Something about this site seemed different than what I was reading on the other sites, so I decided to pull the trigger with a subscription, Maybe it was because the guy running this site was the same guy I saw on TV.

I found out Billy the Kid lived a stones throw away from me through a map that was posted on where everyone was from. He convinced me that I needed professional help 😆 Tunica was a few short months away, so I signed up. Hard to believe that was almost 5 years ago.

As I described to Mark3 this week, Frank was a contributor to ""The Good Times Show" on a Memphis radio station and I had. met him in Tunica before GTC existed. While Goodness sand Sandtrap along with (was it two or three other) using their hotel room, the first major class was held in Tunica and there were about 40 students in a conference room at SAMs in Tunica.

I was one of those but I don’t think anyone else from that class is still active on this board.

However some 10-15 of those at that class got together about quarterly and Chip had an RV and we would meet at the RV, discuss dice, go to the table and then have a meal together.

We called ourself Tunica Touch and continued until GTC had difficultly with Mississippi and. moved the classes to Memphis. Stickman was usual at these sessions and Chip was an assistant instructor back then.

Much has happened in the ten years since then.

The old Doc had read several of Frank’s books–"Craps Forever" and "Beat the Craps out of the Casino" (to name a few) and noticed the reference in the back about the class and the 800 SET DICE telephone number. At the time Rose was not into craps. We were both really into BJ and card counting. We especially liked double decks with decent penetration. As I reread the books I kept seeing the phone number listed above but did nothing. In November of 2005 I told Rose I might like to take the class and see what it was about.

Her response "call and get the facts and see how much it costs." Called the number (it was at night) and guess who answers the phone? It was the famous Dominator himself!!!! Told him of my interest and he preceded to put on his selling shoes and I was putty in his hands. Rose said "I will give it to you for Christmas." You gotta love her, I know I do. That night I called him right back and signed up for the Tunica class in February 2006. I still tell people all the time it was the most fun I had with my clothes on in a long time. I was hooked. I also sat next to Goldfinger and his son and we have become great friends as we meet up 2 to 4 times a year to roll together. We have so many friends in GTC from all over the country that we would not have had the opportunity meet otherwise.

Talked Rose into taking the class the next June in Vegas. We were both hooked. And as they say" the rest is history."

If you had asked me then if I would be an instructor and Rose an assistant, I would have said they were crazy. To paraphrase the Goddess "it really does give us something we really like to do as we are scaling back our respective careers toward retirement."

For those on the fence about taking the class and posting on the board. The GTC classes are not an expense but an investment if you plan to spend any time in the casino. The classes are so much more that learning how to throw the dice. The classes are really about how to become an advantage player.

We are both looking forward to the classes this year.

Every summer my brothers (7) and I go camping down by Cape May, NJ. during the trip we take a run up to AC. In the summer of 2010 We decided to play craps and got cleaned out. Once I got back home I started looking for information on craps. The following weekend I was at a garage sale near one of my brother’s house. On the table was a book about craps "Casino Craps Shoot to Win" and there was a DVD in the back. When I picked it up to look at it his wife came running over to me."2 bucks" she said. I gave her the money and when I found GTC on the internet i signed up on the board. In september 2010 I took the Primer class in Chicago. Fortunately I had the good fortune to marry a great woman who just said "hope it’s worth it". Winter of 2011 We are in AC and I had a great night on the tables and the look on my wife’s face when I pulled out a large roll of $100’s at the end of the night made the classes worth it That summer on our "camping trip" I had a great session with my brothers and a few of my nephews on the table with me. We talked about it all the way back to the camp site.
The concept of dice control is hard for some to see value in but I think my modest success has me convinced that with the right instruction and alot of practice this can be a very rewarding hobby.

Rose said "I will give it to you for Christmas." You gotta love her, I know I do.

I am so glad that Rose gave it to you and now both of you are instructors with Golden Touch.

A garage sale with my book. Ah well, that person that sold the book will always be a long time loser!

Keep these coming!

It’s really been 10 years? I can still remember the first time I read about dice influencing. I can’t remember if it was Beat the Craps out of the casinos or another book. But after I read that I researched classes and groups of like minded people.

Up until 2002, there was John Patric and Yuri Kononenko the author of "Dice Control for Casino Craps/Gambling Disciples of God" the book is still in print and available on Amazon. Although written by a very smart man, it is terribly written, very hard to read. But he was thorough and knew the math. John Patrick on the other hand was just a showman. He had videos on how to play craps that were rented for free at Blockbuster. I watched these so I can learn the basics, but there was no real dice control stuff in there.

In or around 2002 I got wind of PARR and signed up for the class. While I was reading the PARR message boards, I hooked up with Bo Parker the Dice Coach and a member of Parr out of Las Vegas. Bo and I became friends and I took classes with him several times where I met Heavy and Irish Setter and Soft Touch all people with their own sites. But the classes were only so so.

PARR was the first time that I felt like I learned about the science of dice control. It was also a real class with 20 or so other students held in a hotel and not someones house. I met Sharpshooter for the first time, a real scientist who had broken down the toss and knew the physics of the toss. I was a member of the Six Shooters team that weekend, headed by no other than Billy the Kid and Xtractor (another original member and partner of GTC), Daryl No Field Five was also an instructor and Dominator was a guest speaker.

Shortly after the PARR class, GTC was formed and I took the class in Vegas in May of 2003. It was held at Aces full academy a dealer school on Sahara, run by a guy that looked like he had too much of his own moonshine, and a place surrounded by street walkers and meth heads. Although dingy and tight, the place had two full size craps tables. The instructors at my first class were, Sharpshooter, Dominator, BTK, NFF, Mr. Finess, Stickman, Street Dog and RocknRoller. I still remember the layout of the tables and the voices of the instructors.

My story starts with this. I grew up in a casino/track gambling household. By that I mean that my dad was a gambler. He was known by many for this. There were many stories out there about his gambling. Most of them ended up with "If only". If only I would have quit when I was ahead" If only I had not gone broke, I would have caught a big roll". " If only that guy could hit one more point"…..you get the picture.
I, like my dad, liked the challenge of gambling. Over the years, I would go every so often to the casino’s to play BJ, poker, craps. It was mostly for fun, and gambling was not the focus of the trip. For the most part, even though I wanted to play, I stayed away because I could not do what I wanted most to do in gambling: find a way to win. Each year when I did a tally, I was a loser. Despite some winning moments, the sum of the year was a negative. This was enough to keep me at bay for most of the time.
Meanwhile, my dad was still playing heavily up into his 80’s. It was something we did not share together because playing alongside him was not fun. Too much pressing, too high a bet limit. Too much pressure to throw well so he did not lose. It was easier both mentally and physically to just stay away. My dad passed away in August 2006. I missed him a lot. When I thought of him, gambiling always came to mind.
In 2007 a good friend convinces me to take a day off and go to AC with him. We go to a casino in the morning and there is one sleepy table open with one guy shooting at it. A random roller….he goes off on a tear. I jumped in after his first point. The guy was on fire. When the roll ended an hour later I was up a few g. My buddy and I walked the boardwalk, had a brunch and went home happy. While I was at the table I thought of my dad. The images were so vivid in my mind. I wished he was there that day, but I also realized that he would just have given it back.
A few months later this friend sends me a hard copy of an article about GTC that ran in Playboy magazine. He only sent the article…..no pictures….!! I read the article and am very intrigued. Not only do I see some similarities with the throws of some of the old hardcore players that my father knew, I am especially intrigued with the math and science of the GTC approach. I agree with its philosophy and agree that "Winning is the most fun". I go to AC to try the method, have some success, and now I want to go further.
I buy Dice Revolution, follow that up with a beginner class in AC….and the rest is, as they say, history.
I get to the web site by taking the classes.
Here is why I stay with GTC and its method:
With GTC, I always feel I have a good chance at winning.
With GTC, I limit my losses and maximize my winnings.
With GTC, I continue to learn and refine my approach.
With GTC, I have been able to play without the guilt that comes from just gambling and throwing your money away.
With GTC, I have some control over the outcome. (I like to think, when I am shooting, that I am the captain of the ship, I am in control.)
With GTC, I can be me and play a game I love, but always denied myself, because I did not want to be a loser and take even a dollar away from my family.

So, I look forward to the upcoming classes. I need it badly. My practices have been spotty and my results at home have not been good. I know the class will put me in a groove that I can build upon when I get home. Right now, I need the confidence that comes from two things: learning at class and practice at home. Can’t wait for the class.

My path to GTC was almost 30 years in the making. By trial and error I had learned I liked to play from SL1
I also learned I did better playing only the 6 & 8 (code for taking longer to lose my money).

I never understood why this seemed true. I liked SL1 because I was close to the Stick, Box, and Dealer so my bets were sure to get booked and paid right. The 6 & 8 just seemed to come more than anything except that damn 7. No idea about the math and house edge and such things. Sure there were wins along the way but never enough to off set the losses. The high from those wins was enough to let me forget the pain of the losses.

One particularly ugly trip to Biloxie I had been beaten to the point I again swore to never play Craps again. Those of you that have been there know that that just is not true. There is always a next time. Lucky for me that next time was only about 2 hours into the future.

Waiting for the wife to come down so we could check out end the nightmare. Also for those of you with
a wife you have had around for many years know it would be a while. A little time to kill a few dollars left
I walked by a table with one shooter at SR1 and a very different shot. He had a rack full of chips so I just had to step into SL1 to watch and hope he could get some of my money back.

Not knowing any better I bought in while he was rolling. The game was held up while I got my hundred in red chips. 2 rolls and a 7 out was the call. This guy was no happy. He had some very unkind things to say to me.

When tempers calmed down the dice were pushed to me. I felt so bad about what had happened I passed the dice back in hopes he would see I was sorry. He set the dice and sent them on the way. even with no idea of dice controll I could recognize he had a special ability with the dice.

When that roll was over and the wife had made it down stairs the rack full of chips had not only made up the losses but a real nice profit to boot. I never got to speak to that man so I can’t say he was GTC trained.
As I look back with knowledge gained in class I am sure he was.

That night at home I spent most of the night searching and reading what ever I could find on Dice Controll.
At some point that night I found a video that was the shot I had wittnesed. Yes It was a GTC video. That led to signing up for a class thanks to an unknown Dice Controler. He not only showed DC was posible he paid for the first class. Almost 4 years later I am not only still here but looking forward to more training in Memphis. See yyou There.

Initially I followed John Patrick just playing the 6 and 8. Always made money but not much. Saw the History Channel video, bought 2 books got on the GTC site very shortly after. Met StephenC who introduced me to Goldfinger and JBW. Been trying to be an advantage player since 2008. Craps came to Colorado in July 2009 and I play regularly since then with mixed results.

I now have a new girlfriend. She is a good blocker while trying to learn the game. She is very supportive of my efforts. I will continue to belong to this site as it is the premier place to be.

OMC,

Yes JRW and Goldfinger and the rest of the Denver group are great. But have you considered taking the GTC class? Believe me when I say that with your dedication you will never be sorry you made the investment. May be in Colorado this summer and hope to see you then.

A little before the movie 21 came out there was a documentary on beating Vegas where Frank and Dom talked about winning at craps. From that time on I would slowly expand my knowledge of craps. First I bought a few books about different ways to bet but that turned out to cost too much because I was still losing. So about 4-5 years ago I spent money on a practice rig which has helped but I’m still not even close to where I want to be. I would of done a class earlier but with the military you don’t always get to decide when you have off. This past weekend I happened to be able to work it so that I was able to attend. If I had to put this last weekend into words it would be like hangout with a movie star or singer that you liked for an entire weekend, only these people I’ll get to see again later on in life.
