Looking for suggestions, options and or opinions on how others counteract or evade the effects of accumulated body oils.
I don’t think there’s anything that can be done about oils on the dice but I have noticed that the more oils / perspiration I have on my fingers the worse the sticking effect is.
On the old board there was a post that mentioned using extra dry spray deodorant, I’ve tried it and although it works for a short period it attracts / accumulates grit once the Cyclopentasiloxane {type of silicone} has evaporated.
Dr. Crapology mentioned on a post he uses a grip enhancing gel called sweatshield, this seems to help block personal oils on the fingertips but for me it also attracts grit which has a negative effect on my release.
Maybe I’m just a GRIT MAGNET 😥
Of course I always wash my hands about 10 minutes prior to practice or when I walk into the casino but the soaps all have additives which doesn’t remove the oils or leaves a "moisturizing film".
The best product I’ve found for cleaning my hands is Mr Clean Magic Eraser, a 2 pack will give me 8 small cut squares that does a great job of removing oils. the {clean effect} usually lasts about 45 minutes before I notice oils affecting my throw.
I use my practice dice for about 2,000 throws before discarding so after 1,000 the oil accumulation is probably equal to a bad or worst case scenario in a casino.

Just a light coat or heavier?

Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. Put your throwing hand in your pocket and rub your fingers and thumb on it while a pay off is being made at the other end of the table. We find that the Bounce brand dryer sheet in the orqange box seem to work best. Just be descrete when you put your throwing hand in your pocket.
Assuming you are on a table with a felt cover simply run the ends of your fingers on the felt. I have seen Dom do this. The felt will take some moisture off the finger tips.
Wash your hands frequently. At a crowded table, a couple of players before the dice get to you, excuse yourself from the table and head to the bath room. Dry your hands thoroughly.
I know these things work for Alligator Rose and I. Sorry the Sweat Shield doesn’g help you. It works good for us. Don’t use too much. We only use a a small drop on the tip of the middle finger and rub this small amount on the tips of the thumb and the 3 fingers. Just don’t use too much and give it a chance to dry. I am sure you will come up with some ideas of your own.
Keep us posted on what you find works best for you.

Hi Howard!
I have never used the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser for cleaning my hands but if you find it works for you then maybe you should just go with that. You could put a square in your pocket to take to the casino with you.
You could try it at home to see if you could actually reach into your pocket before your throw and get enough cleaning action for your finger tips. If that won’t work then just go into the men’s room a couple of people prior to your throw and wash and apply the "Eraser" cleaning method.
Hope you find something that works for you!
