Craps

Best Run This Year

Spread the love

I wanted to share my trip to the Blackhawk Casinos Sunday. My usual day, starts with a 1 1/2 hour drive thru the mountains on the Peak to Peak highway, dodging deer, elk, moose, coyotes foxes and hitchhikers. (only 1 deer death last year, and it did not have insurance). At arrival, a good breakfast, and I am ready to start at the craps table by 8am. Usually, I get my favorite spot, SR1, for the lefty shooter. Sunday is my only day off and the theory is to relax, but after dodging animals and driving fast, I change gears and concentrate with the task at hand. +

My first throw was a 24,and made some dough, but did not stay the course. My next throw as in the low 30’s and looked much better. I felt pretty good, in fact I felt real good, and decided to change up my all/tall/ small bet from $10 each to $25 each, and I also bet the sharpshooter bet for $25. I looked at the guy across to my right and said I am going to concentrate on this roll, and if he could please not yell and scream till after I make a point. He nodded ok. I am not sure if I should have done that, but he is kind of in my field of vision across and to the right. Well, anyway, I threw a 9, and proceeded to throw the 9 on the second throw. Then I preceded to throw 7 more points, (pays 100 to 1, @2500.00) and was down to a 2 and a 12 left for the ATS. My normal set is the hardway set, 3’s up with the 1 and 6 on the left and right. I was feeling pretty good, as far as grip, stance, breathing, back swing, follow thru, and landing spot, with a pretty good semi dead cat bounce, so I decided to set the dice with the 6/6 facing up. I also thru $25 each on the 2 and 12 on the hop. I then looked at the guy across to my right and said, let me see if I can make the 2 or 12, and took an extra 2 or 3 seconds and let them go. The 2 dropped, and the table went wild. +

Now, I needed to hit the 6/6 to make em all, so I set the 6/6 straight up, and then I thought, if I can throw the exact same way, I need to put the 1/1 up, which I set. I Wound up, and threw another 1/1. I was close, but that was as close as I could get, and I ended my throw with a 34. Still cashed in for almost 11 G’s, not bad for a $100.00 max bet. The suits came down at some point and were watching me, but they looked like they did not want to be there. When I was cashing in someone came up and said I was the best shooter he had seen in Blackhawk, and someone else said I was the best shooter he had seen in his life.

Thanks Dom and your crew for the training. P.S. I do practice w th fr sat for 5 to 10 minutes to keep my muscle memory.

Excellent game, good job. I didnโ€™t think management would wear suits at an Indian casino. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Iโ€™ve only been to one Indian casino, in Louisiana. Strange layout for the hotels, and it had 3. A friend of mine said all the Indian casinos heโ€™d been to in Oklahoma were in sheet metal buildings, even Winstar. Has that been your experience, in Colorado Iโ€™m guessing?

Great read. Well written and a great description of not only the rolls but the crazy drive to the casino. It is such a joy for Rose and Doc to see students have such great success.

Blackhawk and Central City are 1 mile apart at 8200 ft elevation. They have nothing to do with indians, not that there is anything wrong with that. The area is and has been based on the richest gold mining area in the world at one time. No metal buildings. The structures are made to 1900’s look or modern casino’s. There are 14 craps tables in Blackhawk and 3 in Central City. Most are $5.00 minimum with 10x to 100x odds. One is $3.00 minimum. A lot of people have trouble with the altitude, but you can get used to it. I did see one person jump off a 7 story parking garage. Sometimes you don’t win. He did not make it. Other than that, most people have a good time.

You are welcome Gene! Hope you don’t mind just a little critique. .

Don’t show off – by saying something to the guy across the table and then when you reset and said something is a big NO-NO. Take it from me, the casinos are not your friends no matter how much they let you on to believe.

Great shooting and a great win!

Only suggestion that we might add is this—don’t give too much information about where you were playing. You can always share that location to someone through a private message (called a PM) through the GTC message board.

The reason we say this is because Black Hawk in a small place with few casinos. It is always OK to say "had a good run in Vegas on the Strip or downtown or even say in Atlantic City" since there are so many casinos in these locations. Have been to Blackhawk / Central City and there are only afew casinos there. Would not be hard for the casinos to figure out who you are with the great session you had.

Loved your post and again congratulations on a great session. Please do keep posting and asking questions. Hope to see you soon.

Ok. Well, then, I had a good run in North America. My girlfriend always tells me I always take it to one more step, that I should not do that.
I need to keep my verbage to myself at the tables. That is tough when I get on a good roll. This is probably the only forum a person can discuss issues like this and get a straight answer.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Must be easy dodging chips at the other end of the table compared to that drive! ๐Ÿ˜†

Great read! Thanks for the report.

Dom

I understand the sentiment, Dom. But not in this country anymore.

More accurately, behind every successful American man is an American wife rolling her eyes.

And I quote that when RollTide4Ever rolls her eyes at me, which is surprisingly often.
