Using an Excel workbook with formulae to calculate bets and wins, I decided to compare the following methods for progressing bets each time a particular number is rolled – using a Come Bet with Odds.
A) Collect, Press 1/2, Collect, Press 1/2, …
B) Collect, Press 1/2, Press 1/2, …
C) Press 1/2, Press 1/2, … (Could also be described as Collect Half each collection)
D) Collect, Press All, Collect, Press All, …
E) Collect Half, Press All, Collect Half, Press All, …
Note: "Collect" means that all of the win for that roll went to my rack. "Press 1/2" means only half of the win went to my rack and half of the win was added to the odds (rounding down). "Press All" means, same as Parlay, all of of the win for that roll were added as odds (rounding down).
For comparison of these different Bet Progression methods, I started with a $10 Come Bet with a $30 Odds.
On each roll of the same number, I would collect and/or add to the Odds amount as stated above for Method A through E. I did this for each method for 8 rolls, using the 6 or 8 as the number. Before reading any further, try to guess: Which Bet Progression method paid the most?
The results (amount kept, or the amount in my rack) for each of 8 rolls on a 6, for example, were:
A) Collect, Press 1/2, Collect, Press 1/2, …
$0, $41, $93, $120, $202, $244, $374, $439
B) Collect, Press 1/2, Press 1/2, …
$0, $26, $61, $118, $211, $351, $579, $936
C) Press 1/2, Press 1/2, …
$0, $36, $81, $148, $251, $401, $639 $1,006
D) Collect, Press All, Collect, Press All, …
$0, $46, $57, $145, $158, $336, $349, $725
E) Collect Half, Press All, Collect Half, Press All, …
$0, $29, $40, $114, $127, $348, $361, $1,110
My conclusion is that overall, the best Bet Progression method is (C) Press 1/2, Press 1/2, … Just tell the dealer for each win, press half of my winnings – rounding down as needed. Method (E) pays $4 dollars more on roll 8, but it is soundly beaten by Method (C) on every roll 2 through 7.
I hope my presentation is clear. I am very interested in hearing your opinions, and if there are any other progression methods you prefer.

Looks good! And your results do not surprise me at all, because it is the same theory as compound interest.
One of the guys in the Cleveland Crew always told me to be an investor not a banker.
In other words get your initial capital back as quickly as possible and reinvest part your winnings into the hand. I am glad to see your numbers support his thinking!
Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Lou

Yes, the progression methods listed are for the same number when it is rolled. If you roll a 4, 5, 6, 5, 6, 4, 8, 6, 4, 8, then at this point, the two rolls of the 5 ($10 Come Bet with $30 Odds) would have added $40 to your rack, the three rolls of the 6 added $81.
When a Pass Line number becomes a Come Bet, you should maintain the progression, but the bet level is based on the number of collections on the number, not the roll count for that number.
It does get a little complicated keeping track of the bet level for the odds on a number, if that number was also on the Pass Line. In the same manner, if my odds come down because of a Come Out 7, I prefer to keep the most repeated number up, as a Place Bet to be converted, or as a Put Bet, depending on the max odds at that casino. But, excuse my prevarication, the “going back up” depends on my comfort level with my throw at that point.

I believe the Big Skinny is pass line with two come bets.
Yes, as Dom said. I was saying the Bet Progression is for each number independent of the other. I start with a Pass Line Bet followed by two Come Bets, limiting myself to 3 working bets until I have at least 2 or 3 collections. After that, or sometimes after my 5 count, I keep a continuous Come Bet going.
The Bet Progression C does mean I have more exposure on numbers I roll, but then repeat only once. But the increase is so significant on numbers I hit 3 or more times, I don’t mind the risk.
I also referred to the situation in a long roll, when I get a Come Out 7, which takes down all my Come Bets – usually 5 numbers by that time. In that situation, I don’t start over on the Bet Progression. As each number is rolled, I bet Odds on the Come Bet as though the number never came down.
I charted out all the numbers, 6 or 8, 5 or 9, and 4 or 10. For Bet Progression C, “Press Half, Press Half, …”, here is what the collection looks like on roll 1 to 8 of that number:
For 5 or 9: $0, $40, $97, $188, $340, $597, $1,037, $1,820.
For 4 or 10: $0, $40, $126, $286, $594, $1,198, $2,416, $4,826
All from a starting $30 odds bet (3x). Start with 5x odds or higher, you can have a very good day.

The bet progressions I’ve read about are “The Big Skinny” (TBS), viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1402&hilit#p4727, and Dr Crapology’s variation of it, viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10583&hilit=Progression. Both are, by comparison, more conservative than the “ Always Press Half” I presented.
In mine, a given bet is covered, paid for, the first collection on a number. On a 6, I have a $10 flat bet with $30 odds, a total of $40. The first collection pays $10 + $36, a total of $46. I keep $26 and press the odds with $20 (total odds now $50). So, on the 6, I’m still exposed to a loss of $40 – $26, a total possible loss of $14. I’m happy to risk that for the next collection of $70 ($10 + $60). Then, I keep $35, putting me well into profit and positioned for a great payout coming up.
By comparison, the TBS (method D) falls behind on the 2nd collection, or third, depending on when you decide to make a full press (Party).
The typical Advantage Player, if using 3x odds, stays at $30 for three collections, then progresses to $50 for 2 or more rolls. After 5 collections, this gives you wins of $46 -$40 + $46 + 46 – $20 + $70 +$70, for a total win of $218. The “Always Press Half” gives a total win of $361, which is $143 more. Admittedly, it takes more gumption to always Press Half, but it pays better, too.

These charts compare “Up a Unit”, “Pull and Press”, “Press and Pull”, and mine, “Press Half”. My preferred bet progression is in Part 3 of his article. Using Place Bets, you can see that Press Half outpaces all the other bet progression methods. His numbers are off a bit, beginning at roll 2. My bets start at $30, while his start at $10/$12. The Press Half continuously surpasses all other methods by roll 4, and is never more than $10 behind.
Still, I much prefer starting with Come Bets, even on a 3x4x5x table. We need to pace ourselves correctly, too. It’s not just about maximizing our wins. It’s also about minimizing our losses. If you start with Place Bets, your losses on short rolls are going to be more severe than mine ever are.
