5 for 5 trip report

Spread the love

Just returned from a four day trip into the Tahoe region. I had a great time and wanted to once again thank Dom and his crew for what I am able to do at the casinos today. It’s been a long journey for the last 6 years. I mentioned last post about being a boring game. Of course, I love this game but I also love winning. For me it has been my goal to prove to myself that I can beat the casinos at this game we all love. I played a ten dollar pass line with 3,4,5x odds.

This trip was one of those you wish for in your dreams. I brought a large bank roll with me (more than 10k) and never needed more than the first five hundred dollar buy in the entire four days. I played the TBS system often talked about on this forum. I never once bet a hardway or ATS, etc.. I did have a roll of fifty minutes and some of you know with the big skinny, double dipping starts after the payday eight. Well at that point I hit the nine and put an extra 25 dollar place. By the time the seven showed it was a 300 dollar place. I was nailing the 8 and 9. I didn’t hit a 10 until the last few rolls. We all know it is about the repeaters not the points we make. My five hundred dollar buy in became 3800 by the time the roll ended. I played at three different venues and kept my head low. I had great rolls at all three. By day four I was exhausted and realized it before I started chasing it.

As Doc has stated before, I could not believe how much money was down the hole with bets made on the ATS. I never saw one hit the whole four days. That has to be a huge moneymaker for the casino.

I never received any heat from the casino but did notice they became a little nervous about me throwing after the rolls I had. I just kept moving around and playing at different times. I know that I need to step up my betting at this point if I want to win more. I guess it’s just not that important to me yet. I prefer to continue to work on the mental part of the game and enjoy the fact that the casino won’t sweat the ten dollar pass line bet like they might the fifty dollar flat bet. For right now, I’m happy and hope to go 6 for 6 on the next trip. A win is a win is a win. I was generous to the crew and they really appreciated it.
Once again, I couldn’t have gotten to this point without the continuing support and critique that the GTC crew has to offer. Hats off to you guys and gals.

Way to go DoughBoy. I am extremely proud of what you have accomplished. You are on an amazing journey. Keep up the good work.

Based on your numbers I would guess your Initial Amount at Risk (IAR) is approximately $150. That is the maximum amount you put on the table until you win a sufficient amount to put more money on the table.

With that in mind your $3800 win is an enormous win. It is over 25 times your IAR. That is a very strong win.

You started with a bankroll that is over 66 times your IAR and that is a good number to have. It gives you plenty of comfort that you have the bankroll to handle the amount you are risking. It allows you to play without sweating the money.

I don’t know that you have to step up your betting. It’s not like you knead the dough (sorry, couldn’t help myself). But you are comfortable at this level, don’t have any pressure on yourself and avoid any attention with your play. It is important to play within ones comfort zone.

Here is an article about betting levels that you may want to look over again.

How much should I be winning at the tables?

DoughBoy, congratulations and a great report. Your report should remind all of us to stick with the systems and strategies we have learned as GTC members. It is the only way in the long run. Again, way to throw!! 😀 😀 😀

What can I say that hasn’t been said, great trip and thank you for the kind words!

Skinny is right on with the betting amount. If you want to think about stepping up something – step up your passline bet after a win. Increase the bet at a 3/4/5 X’s odds game by $5. It is not that big of a difference and shouldn’t take you out of your comfort zone

Thanks to all of your for the feedback. I did step up to a 15 dollar flat bet during the longer roll and the transition went smoothly. I try to change as little as possible during a roll and avoid thinking too much. The crew that was working the tables was not always the sharpest so I had to continually remind them that I had transitioned to a 15 dollar flat bet. That becomes a little distracting. Also, I was placing the 4 and they were letting me go to 39 dollars on the one dollar big up front. On the one longer roll the pit boss suddenly announced to me that the limit was 25 dollars. I didn’t argue and just continued to roll. Later he did come back and say that it was his "mistake". Oh well, it is all good practice to keep one’s cool under fire.
Skinny, the first time I met you I told you how much I loved the math of this game and the odds . You have been an inspiration ever since. You can’t argue with the math and I have seen so many that want to prove the math wrong. I did read your article, which is one of my favorites along with how to make money on the rolls that are 10-20 rolls. I think the Big Skinny speaks very well to my comfort zone and really limits my risk until I have a few chips in my rack.
With the success I have had, I still am amazed at how much energy a longer roll takes out of me at the end. I was really exhausted afterwards.
I know that eventually I will have a losing trip. That goes without saying. I just love challenging myself. I’m pretty solitary in my practice and play and find it puts a lot less pressure on myself to play when the conditions are not ideal. When I’m by myself, I will only play under ideal conditions or not at all. Once again, thanks for the feedback and I want to just acknowledge the great job Dom has done in assembling a great group of teachers. Good rolling to all of you.

I really like your approach, bringing a large bankroll puts the mind at ease. I like sticking to come betting also. My favorite 3-4-5 table lets me push the base bet come or Passline at anytime.

Everyone should stick to come betting! 🙂
