The Art of a Double Pitch Seven

Spread the love

I have been practicing with using the super slo motion feature on my S9+ to record and break down my landing.

The results of are stunning to say the least. I decided to post this one on You Tube if any of you should want to see it. If you really want a bird’s eye view adjust the You Tube play back settings to .25 speed…

I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Lou

Mr. 6&8,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ and a Zizo bolt case. The case has a kick stand for easy table top viewing. I basically jam a piece of wood in the kick stand then use a piece of plastic to level the phone so that it is parallel to the horizon.

In my camera app I have a function called Super Slo Mo. This has a target it box that detects action and then starts the slow motion recording. I then shoot the dice so that they land in the target box to trigger .4 seconds of glorious slow motion recording. When there is no action in the target box it just records at normal speed. I also have it set for multi takes, so that I can record many tosses in a single video. During playback you can fast foreward to the slow motion events and save just them as ther own mini videos.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask!

Sincerely,
Lou

Lou,

There is definitely a problem with your grip. The left die is rotating quite a bit, possibly too much and the right die is coming out completely flat with no rotation at all.

The dice are not coming off your fingers equally. It is possible you are opening your grip and not getting any rotation on the right die. It is possible you do not have equal pressure on both die causing them to react so completely differently.

Your grip and possibly release need a lot of work and practice.

Lou

Take me up on my offer to you!

Like Skinny said, you got a problem with your grip

Dom

PS can you give me the exact name of that app. I have the new Samsung note

Skinny and Dom,

Yeah I definitely have a lot of issues going on in the grip. I am just happy that at least some of my shots are staying on axis. I am seriously considering that AC class.

I found a video for the Samsung Note, it should be able to walk you through how to do it. It is already included in the camera app on the phone, so there is no need to download or install anything special. I like the Super Slow Mo because it give you the target box and only triggers when there is action inside of it. I usually set up and record 10 shots, then go back and review. It does use a lot of memory so be aware of that.

Sincerely,
Lou

Thank you Lucifer for the info!

I only have a couple of seats left for a refresher student, so if interested give me a call or send me an email. I know it will help a great deal!

can wee see more of the dice before they land move your camera position so we can see them in flight longer please?

Brothelman,

I can try adjusting it a bit more to get the more of the pre-landing footage. I was tossing my brick the other day, and it was wobbly as all get out. As Dom and the others has stated it is definitely a grip issue.

Sincerely,
Lou

The newer iPhones have this feature as well, I’ve been using it for an while. It’s a great way to analyze your shot. I have mine set up to the left of me capturing everything from dice setting to the landing. If you have the iwatch, you can control the camera from your wrist. Cuts down on wasted filming time.

BBD,

I am not cool enough for the Apple crowd, but thank you for sharing this great information! I am sure if anyone has an questions you can point them in the right direction on how to do it, correct?

Lou
