AC REPORT – 7/31 to 8/3/2018

Due to Sandtrap’s frequent and long term hospitalizations, we have only been to AC once or twice in the past two years, nor have we been able to practice regularly. We did practice the week before we knew were going to AC now. Also, it is very difficult for Sandtrap, because he has to carry about 8lbs of batteries in a bag hanging from his neck for his LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device), which keeps his heart running.

We arrived at our favorite casino on Wednesday about 11am, and were very warmly greeted by the pit crew, supervisor, and shift manager. After two tries, I had thrown in the teens, but Sandtrap said he was quitting, so we went to lunch. After lunch, and a bit of tweaking of Sandtrap’s grip and follow-through, he had a nice 20 and teen roll, and I continued in the teens. Wednesday morning, I again had a 22 roll and teens, but Sandtrap had a 20+ roll followed by a monster 61 roll! That put a smile on his face.

We decided to take a look at the two new casinos. We were told that about 100 dealers were taken from other casinos, and we wanted to see if we knew anyone. (We didn’t.) One is where Revel used to be, all the way down the boardwalk, after the AC museum. We both had scooters, so it took a long time to ride there. When we arrived, all we saw were stairs, but there was an “ambassador” outside, and he told us there is a ramp around the other side of the wall, which was well hidden. This casino is on an upper floor, and is humungous! The table games were $10 minimums, Pai Gow $25 and $50, and many baccarat tables with people waiting in a line to play. After driving around, I wanted to try out the craps table. Two were open, so I went to an empty one. I immediately said the dealers were on my bet, and every one said thank you. I never had any heat about setting, or even if one die missed the wall a bit. I proceeded to have a 20 roll, followed by a nice 30 roll. The dealers were very impressed, and very friendly. My back was hurting, so we said goodby, and they all said to please return soon. We had both signed up for their card, and received cash, $25 slot free play (which we both won at VP), and free parking until Sept. We then went to their Café 500, where we had the best pastrami ever. They also had corned beef, latkes, and matzo ball soup on the menu, with many other regular diner type items. The ladies room was also huge, with 18 stalls. The buffet will open in Dec., but there weren’t any nice shops or upscale restaurants open at the moment.

So, on to the other, where Taj Mahal used to be. In one of the boardwalk entrances there is an electric chair with an attendant for scooters and wheelchairs. There are many, many more slot machines, and the Asian pit is nowhere to be seen. It must be in the back, but we were too tired to go searching for it. There is a hidden VIP room, instead of the one that was out in the open. Again, I wanted to try out the craps table, and got on an empty one. The rails are higher than at Taj, so I had to stand on my toes to reach over comfortably. I proceeded to have a 50 roll, tripling my buy-in. The dealers were again extremely friendly, very appreciative of the tips, and asked me to return soon. With their card we received $50 slot money (which we also won on VP), a free night, and 2 free shows. Sandtrap didn’t want to try throwing at either place, but was happy to win on my 50 roll.

Thursday we again were able to get on an empty table in our casino. Sandtrap struggled with one roll in the teens. I started with a 27 roll, and then a 43 roll.
After lunch, I had a 30 and a 20 roll. I won at every session, and came home with double my initial bankroll. What a wonderful trip!

Dom,

If I remember right their class was held in a hotel room not in the casino.

Am I the only one still around who attending your first class in a casino room. I think we had the practice on actual casino tables.

I agree with you on the PRACTICE thought. It never ends if you want to have good results.

PS glad to know Ssantrap is doing so well. Like me, I’m sure it helps to have a private duty nurse who is also your wife.

JoeC1, have you taken a class? If so, when, and a refresher, or advance classes? That and practice is how it’s done.

Goddess & Sandtrap, so happy to hear your Very Positive trip report. I’ve seen many complaints about the tables at the new casinos. You just debunked all that with your good rolls there. Take care & we hope to see you soon…
