Trip report

Spread the love

Today was my first time to the tables since my GTC weekend in Oct. A number of crowded tables, I found some good real estate on a table just opening for the afternoon. I had some other GTC faces next to me who were in for the weekend.

My first roll was a mighty 3-count. My second roll was mid teens, and I was able to hit the Small bonus. The GTC-er next to me hit the Tall right behind me. She had a really decent roll, but I wasn’t heavily invested on her enough to pick up more than a hit, or two.

My third hand, I was attempting to roll and a player on the hook and his chips were right in my landing area. I hit them once, and, with a bit of luck, I hit my point. But I kept having to try to throw the dice and drop them in behind his chips.

The table was up and down, but I played for over three hours and (with the help of the Small and Tall bonus) I was able to walk away winning just over 50% of my buy-in. Thank you 5-count.

Nice read. Glad you some a profitable time at the table.

From time to time chips in the landing zone will be a way of life. You should practice with some chips (or other objects) in your landing zone during practice so you can throw over, to the right or left or lastly land in front and try to get the dice to "jump" over those &%# chips!! 😀 You can make your practice sessions as realistic as possible with all of the distractions in a life casino. I know I have a love hate relationship with the phone ringing when I am practicing–hate it because it interrupts my focus and love it because it makes me take my time in refocusing and getting back to business.
Look forward to seeing you soon.

Thanks, Doc, maybe I will have to give it a try in practice. His chips were placed so perfectly in my way. To try and throw to the right, I would be throwing into the hook and not remain perpendicular to the wall. I kept trying to get to the left of his chips, but anything short of laying on the table, I could not get far enough over the table. I had considered throwing across into the hook by the dealer, but I had sevened out before it ever got that far.

I can’t complain. I played for 3+ hours on a so-so table and still walked away a winner. I will take it any way I can.

In that situation what you might try to do is hit his chips on purpose during a come out roll. Sometimes a player will figure it out and move his chips out of your way. If not you have nothing to lose on a come out if you throw a seven.

But I have found I can generally land my dice to avoid a player’s chips no matter where he puts them. As Doc said this takes lots of practice. But to properly control the dice you need to be able to place them on any spot on the table.

Most of the time I try to go over the chips and have my dice land and settle in a very small area behind the chips. This is when I usually have my best rolls. The chips really force me to focus very hard on a small target and control the dice so they settle gently after hitting the back wall.

Good read and good shooting!

I will take that win any day!

Home practice to miss chips is a great tool. Some things I have learned about this from my own experiences. I think I used to inadvertently look at the pile of chips as I was nervous about hitting them. I learned that I needed to really focus exclusively on a pin point spot where I wanted the dice to land. Not saying I had that kind of accuracy but only that by focus on that exact very small spot helped me to miss the pile of chips. Also, sometimes I have to bring the dice in at an angle to miss the chips and can not hit the wall square. Also, and maybe the best discipline, is passing the dice or leaving the table. If new chips are in my way during a roll then I keep shooting but I do regress my bets as I feel the length of my hand will be shortened. If my roll continues well and I have conquered the chips then I may go back to the original bets or even press a little.

Nice trip report. 50% is a really good win!

I played two weeks ago and had my best night, yet. I got the dice, once, and was able to hammer out a roll believed to be in the low 20’s. I more than doubled my buy-in, and while I wasn’t heavily invested in the RR’s, a number of shooters helped with the heavy lifting and led me to my best payout, to date.

Fast forward to last night, same house. When I first get onto a table, I was more into the hook than SL1 or 2. My turn to shoot came and I attempted to compensate, and made it to a roll of close to 10 rolls. Since I was out of position, I slow-played my stack not sure what to expect, figuring I could limit any damage and if I did get on a run, that was a bonus.

By the time my next roll came around, I was settled into SL1. I had my career-high in live action of 35 rolls. I usually do not keep track, but there was a girl in the corner of the table logging the throws and she told the Box. I did have another roll into the low to mid teens, but probably just enough hits to break even on the hand.

The table was up and down, but I was able to walk away a winner, nonetheless. I had a rough Feb, but these last two outings brought me back and I am up a fair amount.

Now to keep the momentum going.

"You will know you are an advantage player when you travel to a casino and your spot is not open and you do not play until your spot opens up"

I believe your outing last night just proves the statement I always say

An unplanned trip brought me to the tables. With Cinco de Mayo, the Kentucky Derby, and a beautiful day in May, the traffic through the Craps pit was heavy.

With my usual buy-in, I begin play on a table I have never seen open, forget having played on it before. The table was not giving up much as the dice made their way twice around the table before I got my first collection. Looking at my dwindling stack, I found myself thinking it was an early night ahead.

The third crack at the dice, I got into a groove and was able to get up a couple of hundred, but the tide shifted a bit, and the table had won round 4 & 5. Round 6, I was able to get back at it, and as we broke for a dinner, I was slightly ahead.

After dinner, the tables were packed. The table limits had been raised on a couple of tables leaving the premium spots tough to find. I watch to tables and finally a couple walks away from SL1 on my favorite table.

When I buy-in, the dice are two players to my left, in the hook and the table was packed. While I did 5-count every shooter, I felt like a cow being milked as just about every shooter that made the count either sevened-out not.long after, or was throwing everything but my point.

Finally, the dice make their way back to me. As the wagers are being placed, I hear, "this guy’s a pretty good shooter." Don’t oversell it and I strike out after three rolls, I found myself thinking.

I got into em for what a I believe to be close to a 30 roll (I need to do a better job of keeping my count using chips). I was able to notch my first ATS win after coming close so many times. Won just over a grand for the evening.

I am getting close to a milestone of sorts. I have won back about 90% of what I invested in myself by coming to GTC. And it’s a great feeling to walk away a winner after a fun roll like that. To Dom and the rest of the crew. Thanks.

WOW! Great shooting!

Hope you were using the 5-count and one comebet all the time on those other shooters

Absolutely. I play one Come bet/2X odds on anyone, but me, as I wade into the game upon completion of the 5-count.

The other night was just one of those times that RR’s would get through the 5-count only to go down in flames not long after money was put in play.

We have all been there, and then some nights it will work like a charm!
