Practice Distance

Spread the love

I finally took my first seminar, now time to practice. So the question I have is about the distance between the throwing and receiving station. I’m thinking this doesn’t have to be precise, but would like to know what is the distance from the back wall of the receiving station to the middle of the throwing station? Since I am a beginner I would practice as if I am standing SR1. Right now my distance is 6 1/2 ft. apart. I feel like that is to close. Any help is appreciated.

Hello Cajunthrower,

To give you the distance for a 12 ft table, use the following measurements:

A 12 ft table is 144 inches. The middle of the table where the stick man stands will be 72 inches. Allow 18 inches for the stick man. That will give you the position where your left shoulder would be (you’re left handed). If you’re rolling from SL1 your right shoulder would be about the middle of the throwing station. So 85 to 90 inches from the back wall to the center of your throwing station should work. All tables are a little different but this will get you very close to where you want to practice.

These are the approximations we use in the class.
