12 ft vs 10 ft Table

Spread the love

I may be ready to trade in my practice rigs for a full size table. I normally shoot from SL1 or SL1.5 on a 12 ft. table. If I only have room for a 10 ft. table, is this long enough to allow the same practice distance? I plan on taking the advanced class in Vegas. I understand some alternate positions will be taught. Will the 10 ft. table work with these alternate throws? Thanks for any help and comments.

Better than a rig, it would just limit extended positions. In Chicago area, there are a lot of 14′. I practice SL2 on my 12′ for SL1 on 14. Likewise, I can practice my SL3 to mimic SL2 on 14′, and that you won’t be able to do.

Good luck,
Don

I have the same problem as my "man cave" will only only support a 10 ft table.

I remember the Dom & the instructors at the GTC seminar I attended measuring out the practice rigs such that we as shooters should be shooting dice at roughly 90" from the landing spot. A 10 ft table, given the ones I’ve seen online, are anywhere from 125" to 137" long. For your purposes (and mine, too), I think the position on the table isn’t nearly as important as standing in a spot 90" from the wall or landing and calibrating your throw to that distance. The 90" is generally either SL1 or SL2 (for us right-handed folks) on a 12-14 ft table.

I plan to measure out the 90" from the wall to the spot where I should throw when I get my table.
