Prayers Requested for Sandtrap

Spread the love

Hello everyone. I know I haven’t posted much lately, but we have been very busy between doctors and hospitals. Sandtrap is in end-stage congestive heart failure, and an internationally known surgeon at Colombia NY Presbyterian hospital has agreed to take his case. Colombia is third in the country, behind Mayo and Cleveland clinics, doing this type of surgery. Today he had labs and an ECHO. Tomorrow, he will be admitted for a cardiac cath, and then to the CCU because he is such a high risk. If he is stable, he will have the surgery end of this week, or beginning of next. Prayer has pulled us both through in the past, so I am requesting that everyone, who is so inclined, please say prayers for him.

Thank you. Goddess

Goddess, you can count on me to put Sandtrap in my prayers. You two have such a strong faith and so many loyal friends. Together, we can carry him through this and bring him back to Stick-Left 1 with a 6-pointer ready to roll !!!

Sandtrap’s surgery is schedule for tomorrow. It will be about 6 hours, open heart, and he will be in the hospital 4-6 weeks. Please continue the prayers. Third open heart is extremely risky.

Thank you. Goddess

Dear Lord,

I lift up Charlie today asking that you strengthen his body and prepare his body for the upcoming surgery.

Lord, I ask that you prepare each doctor and each assistant so that each one is refreshed and at his or her best when the surgery starts. Enable them to disregard any personal distractions and fully focus on Charlie. I pray for each one to be clear thinking and fully able to receive wisdom from you as the surgery is in progress. May each decision be correct and each procedure be accurate.

Lord, I am asking for your supernatural protection during the surgery. I pray for the outcome to be your very best.

I also pray for protection and provision during the recovery period. I lift up prayer that his recovery is quick and his outcome is successful.

You are our Creator, and you are our Sustainer.

I give you respect and honor this day.

In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen

The breathing tube was removed on Saturday, and Sandtrap has been breathing well on his own. He is extremely weak and tired, and although he gets food, he can only manage a couple of bites, and I cut up his food for him. He is still in the CTICU, but may move to the step-down unit today or tomorrow. All the prayers, again, appear to be working. Thank you everyone.

Still in the ICU all of this week and maybe next. Still not out of the woods. Very high risk. Then, 4-6 weeks in step-down unit. Not eating. If he doesn’t eat the next 2-3 meals, will have to feed via an N/G tube. Please keep praying, as I know you will.

Sandtrap is not doing well today. Completely lethargic, failed a swallow test, and now has a feeding tube. Drs. are now looking for a possibility of infection. Blood and urine cultures, x-rays were done to investigate. The surgeon could only say, "He is very fragile, very fragile," which didn’t make me feel any better. He couldn’t takes his meds or swallow water or ice, eyes couldn’t stay open, shaking chills, could barely talk if he wanted something. Today’s nurse not very sympatico, and kept forgetting to give him the call bell and suction. He was very grouchy today, saying he is not any better, which is true today. I am very fearful about the outcome.

Please continue all your prayers. They worked before, and I am praying they work again. Thanks.

Progress for Charlie, finally! Thursday late afternoon he was moved to the step-down unit, while I was recuperating from a high fever at home. (The dr said I was simply exhausted, and ordered me to go home to rest and sleep.) This step-down unit has 4 co-ed beds, something I haven’t seen since the 1960’s. He still has the feeding tube, but will soon undergo another swallow test, and dietary is doing a calorie count to see if he is eating enough. He is very weak, has lost about 6lbs (149 down from 154),and very thin, and is starting to try to walk a few steps with physical therapy. Occupational therapy has given him a couple of exercises for his shaking hands. All your prayers are again working for him, so please continue. It is still a long road before he can come home.

Charlie now has pneumonia (had a CAT scan to diagnose), and is now on antibiotics. His feeding tube was removed, and he can eat regular food, although he doesn’t always have an appetite. Our friend, Kathy, loaned us her father-in-law’s walker with a seat, which I brought to the hospital today. PT said I could now walk him on the weekend, since he could sit if he gets tired. (Right now, PT drags a chair behind him.) Doctors still say he is doing well, but he doesn’t believe it, and just wants to go home. All your prayers are working again. Thank you from both of us!

Fantastic news, everyone. After 53 days at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC, Sandtrap came home yesterday! He is weak, and uses a walker, but he will have physical therapy, and hopes to be throwing dice and swinging a golf club within 3 months, as the doctor promised. We both thank all of you for all your prayers and good wishes, which brought him through a third open heart surgery.
