Unwanted Casino Noise

Spread the love

Hello GTC, I’m sure this topic has been discussed before, but I would like to know if any of us have listened to perhaps, favorite music or relaxing sounds while shooting dice. Also do the casino’s frown upon this practice? Has anyone ever been told to remove ear buds or headsets? Has this affected one’s play in a positive or negative way? Like to here your thoughts.

From my experience the casinos will not let you wear earbuds while playing table games. Poker yes, table games no.

Have never experienced people wearing ear buds at casino table games. My best guess is that they don’t allow it since with Blackjack, if you were wearing something in your ear you might well have someone behind the dealer (on the other side of the pit playing a table game) signaling you the dealers down card. If you watch any type of TV show that is law enforcement, such at NCIS, they have receivers that fit way down in their ears and are not easily detected.

Doc wears hearing aids and not body has ever said anything. Besides they probably know I am not smart (stupid?) enough to try something like that!!!

Ditto! Any time I see a player walk up to the table that has head phones they tell them they can’t wear them at the table. Sometimes if the player takes them out and hangs them around their neck and they happen to be standing by me I can still hear the music faintly. Not sure if this would work for you or not. It is not very loud music and other sounds may cancel it out.

If you just want a quieter environment then check into ear plugs. There are kinds that are to be worn at rock concerts that do not totally cancel out sound but does quiet it down a good deal. I think a brand called "vibes" is invisible when you have them in. There are probably others as well. Amazon? 🙂

I try to just hum a little tune to myself when shooting the dice. It seems to keep me calm and in the zone as I concentrate on it instead of other things. Also, it kind of lets me know how long it is taking me to set up and complete the toss. Hopefully, no one else hears my humming and thinks I am a crazy old lady! 😆

Would guess that besides security it would be very frustrating for the dealers and box person to have to try to ask a player a question or give information if the player can’t hear you. It is an interactive game after all. Now if you are hearing impaired then that is a different issue altogether.

Hmmm Are there any deaf members on this site . I know that when Lois lost her site she still played and had some good rolls .
Good Rolling. 😀 😀

I may be getting deaf, although the test say my hearing is normal. I have trouble hearing the stick man announce the number thrown.
I can’t imagine playing with ear plugs or ear buds.

Another thing, I often turn off my hearing aids when I roll. It seems to keep the noise down, but the fact that my hearing aids are connected into my cell phone and it dings each and every time not only when I might get a phone call but also when I get a text or email. It can cause me to lose my concentration and focus. I know there was an instructor, now retired, who simply took his hearing aids our and had so much hearing loss that he heard practically nothing.

Many casinos will not allow ear buds or headphones while shooting dice because, well dice counters of course!

I have a sound track of "casino" sounds I play while practicing . I also use it during meditation. So to my mind, the sounds of slots, etc, are more of a relaxation trigger.

Also since WA went non-smoking, the only time I smell smoke is at the casino . That way 2 of my senses are telling me it’s"game time"

On my last trip to Las Vegas I observed in several Casinos the dealers wearing ear plugs. Perhaps those and humming to yourself would suffice.
