This is my back yard, play area. I play during the week, because of the ease of available space. Surprised by the "Golden Touch Invasion". (forgot, totally, of classes for week end)
My area is so full of GT wanna be, shooters, that I usually leave table when they show. Most, 90%ish, are jerks. JERKS. While starting a roll, a group slowly surrounded the table. Not looking, just feeling. Glancing to my right (I shoot SR 1) I see, Rose, Doc, Dom, etc, etc, the Cadre! Mr. Finesse settling in at other end of table. Flinch or play ? I enjoyed this time more than most any in the past 2 yrs. I knew that stupid, crude, and thoughtless actions would NOT be happening. Believe me that is a relief.
Fortunately it was a decent roll. Since I am a total "Lone Wolf" shooter, this was like a Christmas party. Rose was smiling, big, Dom was riding me like a rented mule. "C’mon Dave…5-3, a 5-3 !" When I shoot I usually have a great deal of banter with the dealers. The big guy (dealer) told me, "just shut up and shoot!" He is a super stick, and Dom also liked the guy. Lots of yelling, laughing, and $$. A roll of 4pts to the Fire, and I was done. Exhausted. Rose MADE ME give her my spot, and I was moved off to the corner.
Actually I made Rose move. I really was exhausted. As I was shooting, I think Dom saw my mind drifting, and he verbally got me back on line. What a great time. Maybe friends are not a bad thing ? What was Dom’s comment after, what I thought was a pretty smooth roll….Cheers ? High five ? "You made me proud"?….NO. "Dave you need a tune up." Gotta love him. Best of times.
Shoot with passion, or maybe some of our Cadre.

Talking to dealers while shooting is something I admire if it can be done – Billy for one is great at this – and you seem to be able to do it as well – but losing focus can sometimes happen and having a physical thing to do can get anyone back on track.
What I mean by this is doing something like touching a wrist watch or rubbing your nose – something that you have worked on for three weeks to get the zone back

This was when classes were in Tunica, I had just finished the refresher. During which you had told about using a rubber band, or something to re-focus, in times of confusion at the table. I chose to remember a special moment. On a Deer hunt, with my Father, he told me of a place I WOULD see a particular Deer. Weather was terrible. Crawled as instructed. Leaned against tree, as instructed. Sleet was constant. SSSSSSSSSSSSS and cold. Waited. The damn Deer showed. I just breathed it all in until the Deer walked away. Sleet-the tree-the Deer. If I had not picked this up in class, I guarantee I would have went down in flames that day.
Shoot with Passion….
