Spread the love

After the advanced class with Daryl and Billy I decided to practice my new grip and toss and then take it on vacation. Three solid days of play and the results were positive. I had a little nerves on the first day but just took it easy and let it happen. Day two was very positive and played three different settings. Conditions were very good. No heat. Very nice dealers and box people. The weather was spectacular and the food was pretty good.
Putting my knowledge to work at the tables I continued to focus on the mechanics of the GTC toss and made some minor corrections. I did reread Skinny’s wisdom on making money on shorter throws and that helped a lot because there weren’t any monster rolls to write about. Just good solid play and good come betting. One roll I threw an eighteen hand and 7 nines. All in all, it was a good time with family and we all came home winners. I had two boxmen thanking me for taking care of their crew and asking me back. I don’t mean to sound surprised. This is just basic GTC play.
I have a new found confidence in my toss since the class and everything in practice points toward positive expectations. The mechanics of the toss are so important and until one dissects his/her throw with an objective observer or two, I just don’t think one can get to the next level. It is such a nuanced movement.
Thanks again, Billy and Daryl

We love hearing these success stories from our Video Elite/Advanced Students!

Way to go DoughBoy.

Very nice DoughBoy. It is refreshing when someone actually listens, follows the teaching and advice given, works hard by practicing and getting help through follow up lessons, then sees all the effort come to fruition.

I love the one sentence in your report.

If only all the students would heed that single lesson.

I took the Vegas class refresser last month and went to Black Hawk Colorado last Sunday and had a 38 roll with 4 points. Most of my throws were 6,8,and 9’s, which were money numbers for me. I did have a lot of hard ways that told me my throw was on axis. I try to throw back to back hard ways. A couple of guys were to my right from Texas betting heavy. When my roll was over, we all cashed in for over $2,400 each. They told me you only see that kind of shooting in Vegas, and sometimes not very often. The last refresser class has really helped me to the point I have muscle memory and I get in a rythum to maintain consistency.
Colorado has a $100.00 max limit on their bets, so you have to work at it. You can do a $100 place and a $100 put on one #. After hitting the 6, for example,7 or 8 times, I feel I need to load it up. Alligator Rose and Matt hit the right tips for me. Thanks

@ Doughboy, I hope to repeat the results after September! Awesome results, keep it up!

@ Jawbones, I’ll see you in Vegas, I have the same itinerary, CAN’T WAIT!!!

@ GeneK, Very interesting limits in CO. I’ve only played there once and that was well before GTC, so don’t recall specifics from back then. So there is no 3x4x5x or just 5x odds, just $100 limit whether line odds/put odds or place? We’re looking at property out there and hope to make CO our home some day. Would love to meet up if we do some house hunting out there. I’ll have to think about strategy to play that way; kind of like cruise ships I play on with single odds! Well, not quite, but can be limiting. 🙂

I just want to wish all of you the best of luck at the tables and at class. The energy you bring to class can be contagious and the support you can provide each other will help in those times where this can be such a humbling struggle. I know that the GTC instructors will not disappoint. Just make sure you bring your eyes and ears with you as well.

Here in Colorado most of the tables are 345 times odds or10 times odds. The table minimums are two dollars $3dollars five dollars and $15. The maximum line bet is $100 and your maximum odds are $100.you can have $100 com bet on the six with $100 in odds and a place bet of $100 on the six. We like the five dollar table with 10 times odds. To play effectively here you have to double dip.

@HardNine,

I will give you a little info on the Colorado casino’s. Everything out here is fairly new. BlackHawk is the largest casino town here, located appx 40 minutes from I25 or Denver sits to the east. All the casino’s are non-smoking, but if you smoke, you can go outside. There are 4 casino’s with hotels with another being built as we speak. Ameristar Casino is probably 15 stories high with a pool on the top. The town is at 8200 feet. The view is great. Blackhawk has 15 craps tables within about 3 blocks. No table can be over 16 feet long. Most are 12 and 14 footers. There are sharpshooter bets, All/Tall/ Small, $100.00 max each bet, Most tables are hard. I like to go Sunday morning when some of the small casino’s open and I usually get the table to myself for at least 45 minutes. (shooter stick right). 3 Casino’s have tables open 24 hours, but you can usually get your spot sl1 or sr1 anywhere within 15 to 20 minutes. Everything is close enough to walk to, so if you do not like the table, walk 300 ft to another one.
Central City is 1 mile above Blackhawk, but only has 3 tables and a half dozen casino’s. I will drive there occasionally. The tables are all friendly.
Most tables are $5 minimum. A few are $2 minimum, and Ameristar is $10 minimum. Most casinos offer 10X odds. 2 are 20X and 1 is 5X odds. If you buy the 4 or 10, most do not require a $1 pay up front, unless it has a swimming pool on the roof. (go figure). I guess you would call that sink or swim.
If you do come to Colorado, I can always help any way I can as I am a native, except for the 3 weeks when I was born in S.D.

Any way, I do enjoy it here. Clean air, Low crime, fewer people.

Oh, I need to tell you about the incident that happened last week. I live in norhtern Colorado and a raccoon was ran over on the highway. Someone tied a Get Well Soon helium balloon on him, and the people from Boulder went ballistic. (Boulder is nestled between the mountains and reality). I guess I need to start carrying get well balloons in my truck from now on.

GeneK,

Thanks for the in-depth info, sounds like a great place to play; I love close-by options. Love the racoon tale!

We were looking at a listing in Granby, looks to be a little over an hour from Blackhawk. I spent a year and a half working on a project that involved LM creating ULA back in 2007-2009. That’s when I fell in love with CO, and made a number of friends in the area. I even rode in The Buffalo and did the 100 mile route on my bike (unpowered vs. my now usual Harley). Our search area is from CO Springs (not favored) all the way up the ridge area to the WY line. We’re looking for at least 8 acres so it does get us listings up in the hills, which I love. We have 4 Alaskan Malamutes and they need room to run (and chase racoons, etc).

Thanks again, hope to see you soon.

Yes, Lots of places to live in that area. We drove thru a week ago. (30 minutes from house)

Follow up on the last 2 weeks at the casino’s.
I hit a tall for a $10.00 bet, and then preceded to get the all tall small on my next throw. Came home 5k ahead.
The table went wild.

Last week, I could not even get close to the same table. I bet it will be open tomorrow. I got $6k ahead, but only came back $3k ahead. The longer I stay, generally, the more I loose. It is hard to drive 1 hr and 30 minutes to play 2 to 3 hours, and then leave for home. Money management is the key for me. I need to cut my bets down to a snails pace and that way I can play longer. Generally, I win 75% of the time if I practice at least 3 times preceeding at my home. It is the little things that throw me off. Grip, Shoulders, and release seem to be my areas I focus on. Then at the tables, we add the noise and distractions. I can concentrate hard enough to the point I do not look at anyone and flip thru my mind the points of my throw and how it will look. After my throw, I can relax, and analyze my results. Where did my dice land and where did they go after they hit the wall, What numbers were facing me after the throws, and why did I only throw 38 times.
Lots of things to go thru your head in a few seconds before you throw. At that point, the muscle memory kicks in, and your thoughts hopefully become a reality.
Playing craps is my release for the week. I feel I have a advantage over the casino, and I just need to get in the groove of that particular table.
Nothing feels better than beating the place.
I looked at the numbers of Blackhawk Co, and their gross is around $57million a month posted on the division of gaming web site. My $5k is less than 1% of the day’s take, So I am not concerned that they are concerned. Besides, After I won, the tables were loaded, and I was the only one that left, so chances are, the table ended up making money.
Will keep you posted as to tomorrow’s trip.
Thanks for listening.
