The typical U.S. household headed by a person age 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data.

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are "Baby Boomers" getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time.
We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were.
We worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together.

Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age.
Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don’t know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off.

We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam . We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn’t fight for the Socialist States of America ; we fought for the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave." We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag.
We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner , America , and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing.
We have lived what many of you have only read in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America.

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us.
We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep.
There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the "Hope and Change" which in reality was nothing but "Hype and Lies."

You youngsters have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don’t like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or "Climbing the Social Ladder" to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting.
Many of those who fell for the "Great Lie" in 2008 are now having buyer’s remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn’t have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the ‘Kool-Aid.’ Now you’re paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom.

This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don’t worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2016 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get to where we’re going, and in 2016 we’re going to the polls by the millions.

This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Eric Holder. It belongs to "We the People" and "We the People" plan to reclaim our land and our freedom.

We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren. So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the "Gray-Haired Brigade."
Footnote: This is spot on. I am another Gray-Haired Geezer signing on. I will circulate this to other Gray-Haired Geezers all over this once great county.

Can you feel the ground shaking???
It’s not an earthquake, it is a STAMPEDE.

You and I are Members, don’t Delete, just read and pass it on .

I think my daughters new guest house is looking better and better .I will be going there soon and see if we like it enough to make the move .It would be a big change since it is in Barcelona Spain . Skinny I grew up on the south side of Chicago . Saw first hand about bad things .Those were not the best of times in the 60 ths .But if we elect the man that is running now we will all be in trouble .
I learned on my way to NAM that we are not white ,black ,or brown .We were ALL green and fighting for OUR country .
Which one that is running can say this .
Even tho much has been said about her she still hangs in and fights .
He on the other hand has done like his father and his father before did which is dodge the fight so to speak . As his sons do NOW.
If I am WRONG I will admit it but this time I think I am right to say he will Never get my vote period .
The last laugh may be on US from all over the world .It is a SAD day when one Con man can do this to a GREAT COUNTRY that has been Great for so long .
I end by saying vote for your country not your Party . Its WE not JUST I THAT can change anything .
Good Vote for ALL . πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

He didn’t dodge the draft. That is what liars on her side would like you to think.

He was in college until 1968 when he got his degree from the Wharton School of Business. College students were classified 2-S. That is an education deferment.

After graduation he went for his selective service physical and received a 1-Y classification. That is a medical deferment.

His birthday got number 356 in the draft lottery. So he was never called again for the draft.

That is hardly a draft dodger.

I think some thing is wrong about all this . I was drafted into the USMC IN 1969 with no number that was later . They say he had got in one foot .Which one he does not know?
I Know that a friend of mine was not able to go into the marines but was able for the draft .He along with 9 others pleaded their case which made the news in Chicago and he spent 2 years as an MP IN THE USMC .He did not have got but 10 screws in his leg .He also did not go to the school that trump did but if he had I think that he would have made a Great Officer .
If you disagree with me I can still respect you .But Trump does not have that in him or will he ever .It is his way or no way .
When I was in Nam I never know about Trump but did look him up and read that his father and his father dodged the wars .I have no problem with that part .Here is the BUT I have the problem with all of the rest of the stuff .I can see a CON man growing up on the south side of Chicago .I just hope the rest can see what he is for him SELF .Like he said he is the only fix for US .I am glad in a way that he did not go into the service .Why because even tho vary un likely that he would have joined the Marines he could have been in charge of me .
Vote the way you want that is your right for Now .
Maybe after all is said and done you will send in your money for your name to be put on that brick to build the wall .Or put your name on the rental list of the wall for he will not want it to just sit there and not make money for HIM .
I hope that you can respect other if they do not agree with you as I do and that life is short and goes on .

We live in a democracy and you are entitled to hold any opinion you want. I respect you and your right to think any way you feel.

I would like to set the record straight on one item. You said

I think some thing is wrong about all this . I was drafted into the USMC IN 1969 with no number that was later .

I always do my research pretty thoroughly. I believe in facts and try to stay within them. So if you know of something I stated that was in error, I would appreciate your source because I do not like to disseminate inaccurate information.

I got some of the information I posted above from the selective service department.

A lottery drawing – the first since 1942 – was held on December 1, 1969, at Selective Service National Headquarters in Washington, D.C. This event determined the order of call for induction during calendar year 1970; that is, for registrants born between January 1, 1944, and December 31, 1950

You can check it out at https://www.sss.gov/About/History-And-Records/lotter1

Donald Trump was born on June 14, 1946. That birth date was assigned lottery number 356. The highest number drafted in this group of men was 195.

I found the lottery number for that date of birth on the following website:

http://www.calledtoservevietnam.com/blog/information-about-the-vietnam-era-draft/the-results-of-the-first-draft-lottery-dec-1-1969/

I got the information I posted about his selective service classifications from different selective service documents. I am very certain what I posted is accurate. If you have data that shows something is in error please let me know about it.

While we are on the topic of conning people. Let us take a look at:

β€œDirector Comey said my answers were truthful, and what I’ve said is consistent with what I have told the American people, that there were decisions discussed and made to classify retroactively certain of the emails.”

From my reading it is apparent that the Marines "piggy-backed" on the Army’s draft. The Air Force, Navy and Coasties didn’t participate. General reporting notifications were sent and in the induction process the marines took a percentage of those being drafted. During the first four months of the Nam draft they wee allotted 5000 inductees and 1500 per month from that point onward. There are numerous accounts that they would take 1 in 4. It is also noted that they would usually ask for volunteers first then draft while at the induction center, again taken from individual responses in various sources.

I was USAF so I have no experience of the induction process. And I had a deferment for school had I chose to avail myself.

From the SSS a 1 Y classification was … Registrant available for military service, but qualified only in case of war or national emergency. Usually given to registrants with medical conditions that were limiting but not disabling (examples: high blood pressure, mild muscular or skeletal injuries or disorders, skin disorders, severe allergies, etc.). It was created in 1962. It was discontinued in December 1971 and its members were reclassified as Class 4-F.

From Snopes ref Trumps 1968 Draft status … While attending the University of Pennsylvania’s prestigious Wharton School of Finance, Mr. Trump received a minor medical deferment for bone spurs on both heels of his feet. The medical deferment was expected to be short-term and he was therefore entered in the military draft lottery, where he received an extremely high number, 356 out of 365.

So while it is true that the Donald did not serve it is not true that he Dodged as Clinton did. Willie didn’t exactly run away he pulled every lever and called anyone with influence to keep his butt out of Uncles green machine.

I know that you deal in more facts then I do . That is good for you when you listen to trump for the next 3 0r 4 months .I said that I did not have a number and that I was drafted in March of 1969 .If you want you can look up my number but it looks like I did not know of any such number at the time .I did get my notice a few months before I got drafted . I went to see my sister before getting drafted who lived in Phoenix Az . I had not seen her in awhile . While there I went down to induction center and was told that I had to wait .I then got a job as an apprentice which gave me a deferment .but after 2 weeks of hearing from workers that I should GO BACK TO SCHOOL I decided to stop working .I then got drafted into the Marines .
All I am saying is during that year I got drafted with no mention of any number .I did not have the knowledge to know about the number nor did I care . I was willing and able to serve a great country .I also was drafted along with 2 others who did not want to go into the Army let alone the Marines .One said that he should have a deferment but they did not care . It seemed at the time the recruiter just needed to fill up a quota .
I guess I got drafted just in time before the lottery went into effect and was wondering how Trup slid passed when he was older .
Maybe you could send him some real facts .
Lots try to get out of service . Which I do not blame them for that reason alone but they should not bad mouth one that serve .What is this country getting to when they have a pres. that talkes like he does to ever body that dis agrees with him .Just know it was him that said HE is the only ONE that fix the USA .
He knows more then the Generals .
He can run the government better because of how he runs all of his business .

on and ON like con men do
Look and see if he is really being audited it seems that no body knows for sure .But he says that he gets it ever year .

I care about what he says and not about his money which I wished he would do the same . BUT he only cares about himself and his money .
Keep up looking up the facts and you will do right .
Good Rolling.

I guess I got drafted just in time before the lottery went into effect and was wondering how Trup slid passed when he was older .

Maybe I was not clear enough and you did not see that Stephen C confirmed what I wrote stating the same thing.

Let me see if this clears it up for you. Trump did not slide past. After he graduated college in 1968 he was assigned a 1-A classification. He did get called up by the draft and went to take the mental and physical exam. If he passed both exams he would have been inducted into the service on the spot and taken to some base from there. But he received a 1-Y classification at that time. That provided him with a medical deferment which kept him from being recalled for a period of time. When the lottery went into effect he received a high enough number that he was never called again.

He did not attempt to dodge the draft. He did not seek out ways to avoid the draft. He was in fact called by the selective service. He did not get any special favors from anyone to avoid the draft. No one had anything to do with his staying out of the service.

I was not going to mention what Bill did to avoid the draft because I did not want to cloud the issue. But since Stephen C mentioned it I want to support his argument that Willie pulled every lever and called anyone with influence to keep his butt out of Uncles green machine. His actions would fit the bill of what I would call a draft dodger.

Check out what truth or fiction had to say about the things he did to avoid being drafted. Pay particular attention to what he did when he was called up by the selective service after graduating college. Remember Trump went for his physical as ordered by the selective service. Clinton did not. He left Oxford University where he could not get a deferment and enrolled in Law School in Arkansas and sought help from Senator Fulbright to get into the ROTC program so that he could get a deferment. He had already graduated college and could not get a deferment for graduate work at Oxford or Law School. But he could get into the ROTC program in the U.S. with the help of an influential U.S. Senator to avoid the draft.

https://www.truthorfiction.com/bill-clinton-draft-dodger/

And by the way, after he got number 311 in the lottery, he dropped out of the ROTC and Arkansas Law School to go back to Oxford University on his Rhodes Scholarship. After leaving the ROTC he wrote a letter, coming clean so to speak, to a Colonel Holmes explaining his true feelings about the draft and his motivations for joining an ROTC program which he never intended to follow thru on. I think the letter is quite revealing about the character of Willie. Especially since we have discussed how a con man acts.

Posted by: Finisher on August 5, 2016, 6:44 am

Well Skinny Iread the letter and have decided that I got f …. more then both of these men . For I had a real deferment from a JOB that was supposed to get me out of the draft which did not and did not get a number or know about such number .
Also could you put up material about Trump from that web site .I am not good at finding these things .I will give it a try but what I found said that his father avoided the draft along with his grad dad .I will re look up if I find it will let you know .
Have you fact checked about Video yet ?

So in 68 he was 1-Y Disq
Then in OCT 68 1-Y Classification stemmed from bone spurs in both feet .
When asked did not know what foot .
In 72 became 4-f do to laws .
I did not receive a number and went in of March of 69 . Why was he given a number when he was not eligible according what you sent me to read .
So he walked around with those bone spurrs for all those years but could not recall which foot it was . Give me a brake .If you walk around that many YEARS with a bone spurr YOU would know which foot it was .
sTART FACT CHECKING HIM AND SEE THAT EVEN WHEN HE IS WRONG ABOUT A LITTLE THING HE WOULD NEVER ADMIT IT .
I do not trust any of them .
It is a shame that this is the best we have .

Finisher would you be willing to serve in the military with Hillary Clinton as the commander and chief?

Yes or no.

Posted by: Finisher on August 7, 2016, 7:30 am

Bman I respect persons that follow what they believe in whither it is my belief or not . But for you not to respect some one that died for you to live on and let you believe in them is just not right .
I respect ALL that have served this great country .I would not like to serve either one that is running now .
At the time when I went to Nam I had a lot of friends that did not like what was going on . Some did not have to go . Others fought to go to and some went over and never came back .I think I was lucky to make it back .My first day there I went on patrol and before I got to the wire they were bringing back 13 wounded .I was lucky because I was in 60 mm . So I was protected most of the time . But then I spent most of my tour in the bush .Sleeping on rocks most of the time .Some times we would go back to the rear and get to slept on cots for a few days .
I would not like to serve for some one who does not respect are Vets or their Mothers or Fathers .Were is this country going to ?There is way to much HATE going on .
You may not think this country is great but I do and hope that it gets better no matter who is in the White house . I do not think one person is the answer but WE the people can do it together .
You have the right to vote so just do it .Some in this world DO NOT .

Why was he given a number when he was not eligible according what you sent me to read .

Finisher, it’s apparent you did not thoroughly read the Snoops article. It clearly states for the year 1968 "While attending the University of Pennsylvania’s prestigious Wharton School of Finance, Mr. Trump received a minor medical deferment for bone spurs on both heels of his feet. The medical deferment was expected to be short-term and he was therefore entered in the military draft lottery, where he received an extremely high number, 356 out of 365."

I too referenced and quoted in my earlier post this exact same passage from the exact same Snoops article.

I have complete respect for the vets, and the men and woman in service currently as a matter of fact not to long ago we had three young men in-service, two have medals they will not even talk about, one is still in, two of them served in the army being deployed for more than a year at a time, away from their children.

Do not ever accuse me or insinuate that I do not respect our military in any way.

I asked you a simple question would you follow Hillary into battle?

I asked you this question because of the passion you show for your service in Vietnam.

Hatred, prejudice, and inequality run ramped when the strong do not stand up and fight.

Posted by: Finisher on August 7, 2016, 6:03 pm

Bman I did not know that you were thinking about running for this office that you asked me about . I was referring to the person that the question was about .Know that I think about it I would have to ask myself would I prefer some one that would listen to ALL or some one that says in knows more then any body and that he alone can change things .
SORRY that you took it the wrong why .I think you can respect what others have done .So far I have heard little respect from Trump . When he listens it is just before he fires them . Most of the time he is doing all the talking .
I watched him READ his endorsement of Ryan . He could not or did not want to use his own words .
Were is the lines not to cross any more ? What will are future be like if this goes any lower ?
I myself had a hard time getting a JOB when I came back from Nam .I did not have a dad that could give me a SMALL 1 mil. loan .
This guy seems like one con man that I would never want to do business with .
This is a win win for him . He gets to write off his plane body guards and get money from the RNC. Spend little on news .

Yes or NO

If I was young enough I would . Because I would not be going for HER but for ALL of US who enjoy this Great Country that many have Given their life for and will in the years to come .
I think to many are forgetting that it is WE the People not one person that makes this country Great .
Now that you have read my thoughts what is your answer ?

Stephen C As I said Sept 68 1-y then Disq. then Oct 68 1-y class stemmed having bone spurs in both feet . ( which he could not remember which one . ) then in 72 was 4-f .
I went in the USMC in March of 69 which is after 68 and had NO number .
If I had any thing that got me out of going I would know to this day what that was so I must believe it must not had bothered him MUCH .So he suffered with those bone spurs for 4 years while out parting .
I still think that whither he avoided the service or not is not the BIG thing . It is just him period he has no respect for any body that disagrees with him .To say bad things about Mothers and babies . Were do you draw a line for too much .What is are future if this is how it will be . He says that HE is the only one that can fix the US .
Give me a break it is a win win for him .He is spending less and writing more off then ever . Now the RNC will be paying more .He is smiling ALL the way to the bank .

Finisher, your absolutely correct, you had no Draft Number in March of 1969. I had no Draft number in February of 1969, my birth month, or in march or April or in October. As a matter of fact no swinging dick in this great country had a Draft number in October of 1969, nobody. Prior to the start of 1970 every male on their 18 birthday had to register. Those names were collected in DC where individuals were selected and sent back to the local draft boards for processing. The local board had the final say over who went and who didn’t. Too much local power, influence and perceived corruption is what brought about the Lottery which started on December 1, 1969. Hence the "Number".

Get over it, he didn’t have a number in March when you were inducted because nobody had a number. And he had a deferment for college at first and after ward it was changed to 1 Y for bone spurs. They are no more debilitating than flat feet, but both rendered you less than desirable. He doesn’t recall just what exactly the deferment was for, so what. That was 46 years ago. And to quote your Candidate "At this point what difference does it make". But she was referring to leaving four of our own behind to the enemy wasn’t she. Not sure what Military you served in, but in mine that doesn’t fly.

Hell she could miraculously start channeling Ronaldus Magnus and based on that one point I still wouldn’t vote for her. I find it hard to understand why anyone who has been under fire would. We humped body bags for hours because nobodies left behind, period end of story.

Respect, hell, you really think Clinton has respect for you or me or anyone else for that matter. Even Obama in the run up to the election of 08 said she would say anything to get elected. Do any of the scandals she has been implicated in mean nothing? How about the "Bimbo Eruption Squad" she headed to protect Willie. Would you want any female in your family personally and professionally destroyed because they complained about being sexually abused? Just who is going to protect the women in the WH from that sexual predator should they get back in there? No one because her legacy would be at stake.

Clinton has been around for 30 some years in the political arena. Fired from the Watergate Commission for lying, corrupt, unethical and unconstitutional behavior. Not by Republicans but by Democrats who were running the investigation. As first lady she headed a commission to reform our health care. The Clinton health care plan, known officially as the Health Security Act and unofficially nicknamed "Hillarycare". to this day she, they the Clintons still will not disclose exactly who was on this commission. Why?

Hillary under fire, can we say stolen valor … Emails … to many scandals and too little time.

After 35 odd years in Law Enforcement I don’t believe in coincidences, I do believe in patterns of behavior

No we have a bimary choice for President, a simple 1 or 0. And the zero goes to … drum roll please … Hillary … clapping applause

Hi S I see that you too have a hard time with reading like myself . I said that I was in the USMC and by the way the air force do draft also because my brother in law was drafted in the Korean War and spent his 2 yrs. in Italy . How nice that was .
Also I said FROM the start that this draft stuff did not matter so much as getting and giving respect to others which I think should include Mothers of the ones that have served . Not just the lucky ones like myself that came back .I think that there have been tooooo many lines crossed during this election PERIOD .
You may think other wise but this is the United States so you have that right .
I have never seen so many bad things said in the past . This fear and hate is no good at ALL .I think that I read some thing like this going on but it was forty years ago in history class and in another country I think .
I grew up on the south side of Chicago so that history class was not in another country .During that time there was a lot of hate and fear going on but not like this .
All of the this will be over after I get back from vacation so I am not going to see any more of this STUFF for awhile since no TV or internet . Will be gone for 2 months helping with Grad daughter.
She is 4 yrs. old and a lot of fun .It is interesting to see her talk in Russian ,Italian ,French ,and English . She is noon learning Spanish because she is moving to Spain .

Just got back from being in Europe for 2 and 1/2 months . NOtv or radio .Which turned out great . Did get asked a lot from people over there as to WHAT THE F is going on in US . Most of them say that this Trump guy is making their leaders look better .They even are wondering if it will be safe if he gets in .
I did not even have to bring up the topic . They would just ask if they found out I was from US .
They were working people that would never get to US but were worried for US in the US .
Most say there is enough hate in the world already .
No matter who wins we will all have to live with it .
Good Voting .
