It was such a pleasure working with this seminar’s students. They came prepared to learn, and learn they did. They paid close attention to everything that was said, and diligently practiced all the suggestions to their grips and tosses. As usual, there was a marked improvement from Saturday to Sunday, and the no-sevens contest was definitely a lively affair. Joe D, who won the contest, certainly worked hard to get there, and deserved it. I know some of them will be 10%er’s, and I hope to meet some in the casinos, as well as see them in future seminars.
Thursday was Sandtrap’s 78th birthday. After all our medical problems, we are both very grateful for every birthday we get to celebrate. Set-up was due to start around 10:30, and we were going to have lunch around 12. Dom offered to give Sandtrap a surprise birthday lunch. Dom was going to order pizza, and I ordered a birthday cake to say Happy Birthday Sandtrap Charlie. The caterer thought I was crazy, and asked three times if that’s the name I wanted on the cake. Now, how to get Charlie there, as he would prefer to stay at the craps table. I told him that he and Jack were invited to lunch. “I don’t want to go to lunch!” was the reply. So I asked Sandtrap to bring the paper goods, and asked Jack to bring sure to get him to the Sheraton. After the pizza, it just so happened Sandtrap was sitting facing the “store” talking with Mr. Finesse. Dom told me to keep him that way, so that when the cart was rolled in, he wouldn’t see it until the candles were lit. When the cart arrived, Dom said to Sandtrap, “Aren’t you tired of sitting? Why don’t you stand and stretch?” Sandtrap just looked at him like he was crazy. Dom repeated it, and then sort of put his hands on his shoulders encouraging Sandtrap to get up. He finally did, turned around, and we all broke into song. He was, indeed, surprised! I had also passed around a card for everyone to sign, and some of the messages were funny, and some simply expressing joy. THANK YOU DOM!!
Sandtrap and I arrived in AC on Wednesday, 3/16, and after unpacking, went right to an empty craps table. I opened with a very profitable 27 roll. The Usual Suspect met up with us, and had a nice 13 roll. Sandtrap struggled, and Jack, who arrived later, had one short roll.
We took a break, and I played Pai Gow and VP. Mr. Finesse, then joined us, and I gave him my spot. He started with a 16 roll followed by a short roll, and went to VP. Again, Jack and Sandtrap had short rolls, but I broke out with a gorgeous 51 roll. Since I was come betting, as was Sandtrap, we had a nice little bundle to take to dinner. After dinner, OJ again met up with us, and had a nice 16 roll. I had a great evening, with rolls of 15, 27, and 21. And so we went to bed, with a nice profit.
Thursday morning the table was again empty, and I had a short roll and a 25 roll. Mr. Finesse joined us, took Sandtrap’s spot, and had profitable rolls of 20 and 12. A drunk idiot came to the table and kept trying to throw a field bet in in the middle of rolls when the dice were out. Mr. Finesse kept saying, “Why don’t you call no roll? No roll!” Of course, no one listened. I seven’ed out, angry. Then the drunk came to my end when the man next to me was shooting. He again tried to throw in a bet, but this time the dealer told him to take it back because the dice were out. I went to the bathroom, and apparently, the drunk tried to reach out over my chips to throw another bet, and Mr. Finesse stopped him.
After the set-up at the Sheraton, we went back to the tables. Now Sandtrap did well with rolls of 10, 23, and 30. I had two bad rolls, and then a nice 20 roll. Mr. Finesse had been teaching me “Deuces Wild” VP, and I wound up playing by myself before dinner, and had a “Royal Flush Without Deuces” paying $1000! I couldn’t wait to tell everyone.
Friday morning Sandtrap had three short rolls followed by rolls of 12, 14, and a nice 21. Jack and I had a bad morning. Just before dinner Rob and Kay were at our table, and Rob had a nice 23, with Sandtrap rolling a profitable 18. After dinner, Mr. Finesse rolled a nice 23, and Sandtrap had a 17. Saturday we were in class, but Sandtrap said he had a nice 27 roll, and Jack went home.
Sunday we all went to dinner together, and then walked from Bally’s to Ceasar’s. This turned out to be too long a walk for me. I got very short of breath, had difficulty walking, and we decided to go back to our car at Bally’s, another very long walk. I had to stop several times, and was almost ready to call 911 to get some oxygen and transportation, but I managed to finally get to the car. Back in our room, I went straight to bed, but still had difficulty breathing. Monday morning I was feeling much better. We packed up, and wound up on an empty table. However, neither one of us did anything at all. While Sandtrap was paying off his marker, I again sat down at Deuces Wild, and hit 4 deuces, paying over $200. We then went to Golden Nugget, where we had a two for one buffet breakfast. While Sandtrap was in the men’s room, I sat down at the Wheel of Fortune slot machine, which I never play, but wound up winning another $100. This was a most profitable trip for me. What a nice feeling.
