Craps

Height correlation

Spread the love

Instructors!

Over the years of teaching have you discovered a correlation between a players height and where best to stand SL1 or 2 (SR1 or 2)?

I have been playing at my favorite Colorado casino since they opened for craps on 7/2/09. I toss mostly from SR1. My results have been very up and down.
I will win one or two or even 3 weeks in a row and then go on a losing streak that seems interminable. I know it is me that is the problem but I can’t seem to
get on a consistent enough basis. The table consistency has remained very good through layout changes.

I just played there on 3/1. A friend (chicken feeder) had my SR1 spot and he offered it to me. I said no and I’ll throw from SR2. I had several short rolls then a nice high 20’s for the first time in 5 months. I’m 6’2" and the table is a 12 footer. My dice had a lower trajectory from SR2 than what I regularly have from
SR1. Once a pit boss told me they put one layer of newspaper under the microfiber so it is a pretty hard table. Bounces very similarly to my table at home.

Instructors and players comments will be appreciated.

I have had a number of similar outings lately.

While here at a tub I had a bad day until I moved my landing spot back to the front of the
pass line. Then at a 14 foot table here a couple of months ago it was the same thing. I tend to throw
into the middle of the hook because for me it is the best way to get a smoother toss, and to be
affective I had to land the dice just to the right of the 10.

Then in vegas the past month it was the same, I had to land the dice just to the right of the 10.(throwing
from SL1.)

There were a couple of tables in Vegas such as the 4 Queens where you could lay the dice out closer to the
back wall and they just landed and seemed to settle down great, but it was always a 7, here to if I
land closer to the back wall I have so many 7’s I just cant play.

So to be honest I need to move my shot lower and the landing spot further from the wall to do ok.

The Pit boss told you that they put one layer of newspaper so it is now a hard table . I will have to think more about that .
Did it seem like a hard table to your dice ? That is just a little feather that the dice will be before they hit the hard wood . I think they want to save on buying dice a little .
I thought about putting newspaper under my felt but did-en .
Maybe more thoughts about the newspaper from some that know more .
Good luck on the what the pit boss said .
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

First on the newspaper under the felt. I have an antique crap table that came out of a Vegas Downtown casino. The table is about 65 years old, sold oak and only 1 chip rail, not he two like they have today. It has the original felt on it with the casino name. The felt is in real good shape because when I bought the table, it hadn’t been played on for over 20 years. Under the felt is newspaper, that is what was used back then.

Height, knowing your toss One Moon from your last class in Vegas and your height, SL2ust might be better for you

Sunday night I went up the hill as usual and played my favorite casino. Made money from SR2 as the previous week and had the great pleasure of playing with my grandson. He did much better than I thought he could. We moved to another casino after dinner and found his other grandfather playing there, gramps had the best roll of the day of 29 before we arrived, naturally. I was at SR2 again and couldn’t buy a point. Just miserable but on reflection I think I know
why. I guess I will try my ideas in practice first.

My home table is a little larger than the 12 footers which I think they measure outside to outside. My table is 13′ and 4/10ths inch outside to outside. Measuring the flat surface where the stick stands is 2′ plus about 7" right and left. Stick area is larger on my table than those up the hill so I toss stick right 1 and 1/2 so my hand does not go past the center of the proposition area. This is equivalent to SR2 at all the casinos I usually play so I am moving over one spot
to see how this comes out. There is one other thing, that is some of the tables where I have had success lately are pretty bouncy so a VERY soft low toss from SR1 has been doing nicely.

By the way, my dice looked really nice from the longer distance in both casinos but the second one I think my dice were not level and way too many banana throws.

Dom, I will take your advise, thank you.

I think it is due to the table top, but because my felt is so old and looks so good, I think the newspaper really helped in keeping the felt in great condition
