LAS VEGAS (AP) – Casinos officials say a Las Vegas man turned $20 into nearly $14.3 million after winning a Megabucks slot machine jackpot at the Rampart Casino near Las Vegas.
Rampart Casino spokeswoman Jenifer Smith said Monday that the man planned to donate much of what he won Sunday night toward building a church for the congregation he belongs to which meets in a school gymnasium.
Smith says the man plays video poker occasionally but a visiting friend who prefers playing Megabucks inspired him to spend $20.
She says five minutes later, he won.
Smith says the man wishes to remain anonymous and wouldn’t reveal the name of the church.
A spokeswoman for Megabucks maker IGT says the last jackpot winner won $3.1 million at the Twin Pine Casino in California in August.
