Octobers' Vegas class

Spread the love

MrE, my son, along with our spouses arrived on Tuesday prior to class. My other son BigJohn flew in on Thursday with his wife to make it a threesome. We had planned this for some months. It was vacation for most of the ensemble.

MrE and I came to open house around 2:00. We renewed friendships and met with Goldfinger, my practice partner for many years now. I missed MrFinesse, he is always so caustic and there is much to be learned from him.

I started off with Doc and he had some comments to think about. Next, Randman hit the spot and saw a flaw that he immediately corrected. I am still working on it to gain best advantage. Video came for me and BTK and NFF did a great job and I am also still working to get the best I can from their suggestions. The class met almost all of my expectations. Intense instruction designed to help you be the best you can be, all were very friendly and even a sense of humor.

Ever since last June and the Primer (I’m not really a newbie having followed GTC’s teaching since 2008)
I have been steadily increasing my 401G! I had done ok prior to class but never set the world on fire very often. Still am not setting it on fire, rather, steady if small wins with some decently long rolls and a number of amazing comebacks. I learned from 2008 that advantage play works and have been trying to improve ever since. The class has given a better technique and a lot of confidence including with the last class.

All these years practicing with Goldfinger and JBW Goldfinger has said little in critique. I have been emulating him all this time. After yesterdays practice he paid me a very nice compliment which has sent my ego very high and I just want to thank him publicly…. so, Thank YOU Goldfinger. You continue to increasingly raising the bar.

Welcome to all the new primers. I hope to meet you sometime and play together if you ever get to Denver.
Stay with the program, it takes a lot of work but it is so worth it. Practice.

Nice report. Glad that you got so much help during the open house and the Elite Video. They are really great activities. You are correct, we dream about the really big long rolls but it is the steady short rolls with several paydays that bring us the small wins or very small losses that keep us in the game until the monster comes along–a monster being defined as a 30 or 40 roll. The "advantage play" thing really does work. You simply need patience and some instruction from time to time.

Keep up the good work. Hope Rose and I can make Colorado next year and we can meet up.

Have a good holiday.

OMC,

Sorry I missed you and the October class, I so look forward to all of the GTC classes and the great people who attend them. The friendships I have started within the GTC family will endure for ever. I enjoy helping others improve their games and becoming advantage players.

Unfortunately my wife was ill and I had to stay with her. Hopefully we will work through this illness and be attending all of the GTC next year.
