The Lion and Princess are celebrities??? — say it isn't so

Spread the love

Ok — here’s the story

We were shooting this past Saturday night at a relatively small casino and we both had good rolls for most of the night.

The Princess was on point …. she hit six Hard-6’s in a 10-roll span with ZERO easy ones to take it down (until the 7-out roll) — her roll was about a 35 and went for about 45 minutes. She hit 6 points total….would have been $1250 on the fire (but, no fire at this place)

I had 3 rolls that were in the 20-25 range

All money makers for us both, but, the table paid out quite a bit to other CF-ers that were betting crazy big $$$$.

After about 5 hours of this, the BIG boy in the SWEET suit, with the big mouth arrived at the table from the secret room upstairs and said as LOUD as possible……"Wow, Golden Touch Shooters at my table, we have celebrities here, cannot believe we have Golden Touch Shooters here"

It was now the Princess’ turn …..He proceeded to slightly bother the Princess and she 7-d out quickly after 2 rolls.

Then, came my turn …. he really got on me ….started doing "play-by-play" when I shot (think John Madden / John Gruden)…..he’d say "look at the stance, the tippy-toes, the grip, the pendulum swing, the shot rotating on axis." Then his next comment was "So, when did you take the class and where" right after the roll. I completely ignored him and did my routine again …. then he did play-by-play one more time and mixed in the back wall comments. Next 2 shots, again with the play-by-play (my temper was starting to boil), and I "threw" the dice off the table both shots. My initial point was the NINE …after about 2 more rolls, I hit the NINE. Then he got even more intense with me…… I really wished that I had my earplugs, but, this place never gave us any problems before (lesson learned — ALWAYS BRING earlplugs). I set-up the TEN as the next point and the taunting and play-by-play finally "broke" me. I put the dice down and told him "Be Professional" — "no need for play-by-play taunting", just "Be Professional" — I think I said "be professional" 5 more times. We took our bets down, and of course, the next CF-er sevened-out on his first shot and I lost my $10 line bet.

So much for the celebrity story !!!

Here is a suggestion on how to handle a guy like that. First of all don’t get mad. It is their game and you must play with there rules and/or a** hole comments. What I usually say is something like "I did not take the class as it way too expensive (we know it is one hell of a good buy). I did buy a book and probably paid too dam much for it, but it can’t hurt." Then laugh and get back to business. I find this usually backs the comments off. However—-

If he still continues take your bets down–and if there are some dealers bets on the table that can be taken down make a point to say you are taking the dealers bets down because of him/her or you can make a point of saying you are leaving the dealers bets up since they are not giving you a bad time. Then sling the dice as hard as possible against the back wall a few times. Hopefully you will 7 out and you can leave only losing your pass line bet. Did this one time and on the next roll made my point and passed the dice.

Trust me when I say if you are having good rolls the other players will get irritated which the casino doesn’t like. Also taking down the dealers bets will not make the dealers happy with management.

Then don’t play there for a while and try and use a different shift.

Just my $.02 worth.

Hope to see you soon.

Thanks Doc for the advice — having the earplugs would have been fantastic, especially putting them in when during his antics ….oh well, another time

After we cashed out, we left the casino and went home. However, our friend stayed there — ourfriend told me that the dealers absolutely cannot stand that guy. He harasses all of the players and according to the dealers, treats them horribly too.

After we left, the dealers told my friend to tell us to write a letter to the casino complaining about that guy. The dealers stated that they’d really enjoy hearing that guy got in some trouble.

I guess his reputation has been established a long time ago

Write the letter. Also write a letter telling Management how much you like the dealers–by name if you know them.

I probably will — if just for the dealers — we really don’t know too many people there as we really don’t go this casino too much (2-3 times a year) since the table "conditions" are not GTC friendly….they are tolerable, so we can make it work if we’re careful/precise …. but, it was the second place we went to that day as the first place that’s a little further away was not too profitable for the Princess

BTW, my friend got the name of the guy that harassed us and also the name of his supervisor from the dealers

Here in New Jersey we would have said something liket " Hey asshole, Shut the f— up and do you job"

😀 😀 😀

Me, I’d wear it like a badge of courage. I’d likely turn to the other players at the table and say "That’s right folks. Go to GTC to learn more about the way I throw the dice. I must be doing something right to get this Suit down here to break my concentration. He Obviously wants US to loose so I’m going to take down my bets and try to seven out everyone. I suggest you do the same. The XYZ Casino is next door will value our play!"

Color up, final buck or two toke to the dealers and depart. As everyone else does the same. Some of them follow you to the XYZ Casino hoping for another good roll. 😉

Chuco, I can see where it might be very temping to make a scene as you mention in the above response to this thread. The a**hole certainly deserved it. However most us who have been with GTC for several years prefer to simply take out bets down, back away from the table and move on to another casino and not have a big scene. We are much bigger than that character. Why do I feel that way, it simply brings too much attention to all GTC members.

Remember we get enough attention simply by the way we throw.

Just my $.02 cents worth.

Before I took the class I was told at one casino that I could not throw dice there any more but could stay and play all I wanted too .
So it is not the classes it is the P brain P critter period .
It is their game .
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

Looks like I have to chime in.

Don’t ever be tempted to be GTC….ever. It’s just a moment in time for you, but the next person that plays will have to live with the consequences of your mouth.

The comments about being professional was good, and probably the best thing you could have done Lion given that it sounds like you haven’t had a "cover story" or practiced any confrontation with pit critters before this. We teach the throw, betting, and give some pointers on how and what to do in certain situations.

Getting a "suit" with a mouth is something you will have to think about and prepare for, before going out again. It will be standard to be prepared with comebacks like,

GTC, what’s that?…
…classes, they have classes for this? Cool, who would know how to take one?
I bought a book and it had this way of throwing, betting, and tipping in it.
I guess if it worked we’d all be doing ok….
The book also mentioned tipping, That was chapter 10, which was on gratuities and the service oriented industry here. Im in a service oriented line of work and believe tipping is good everywhere, can I get an amen?
I just wrote a great letter to your president (be sure to know his/her name) about how much I like the place and staff….mentioned a few names such as (name a few of the base dealers, box and stick).

Anyway, be prepared to answer a loudmouth knowitall who is hellbent on your 7-out. The best move is to color up and leave, especially for the new folks or for those that can’t take the added pressure. It will eventually escalate and you’ll lose.

One time, Rafter and I were at a Vegas casino and he was well into a 50+ plus roll! when the pit boss just stopped Rafter, called him by name and said he was done throwing pass the dice to me. We asked what was the deal and he gave no reason, just that Rafter was done. It’s their game…. I told the pit boss that I would not be throwing either and to take down our bets. We had over $1500 in total on 4, 6, 8, and 10. All they got out of us was $25 each for our pass line bets and dust in the wind.

Be prepared both in the skill, knowledge, and discipline. Practice all, always.

My two cents

Thanks for the advice

I’ve noticed more and more comments/heat are coming at me than before. And, I think alot has to do with it is the fact that I’m able to shoot and make money for myself.

I can handle the comments (trust me), but the play by play crap was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Plus, we had been playing all day long and I had a few Yuenglings in me too (which helps me bring out my temper)

Next time, I’ll handle it differently, have my earplugs ready (i’ll put them in right in front of the guy), and regroup & shoot. After I 7-out, I’ll color up and hit the road

During my first 50 roll in Windsor during a Jamboree, at about the 46th roll a suit came down and told me to hit the back wall every time. The box person lowered her eyes and said nothing. Since I knew I had been hitting the back wall, I assumed he was there to stop me. I took down all my bets, threw 4 more to get to 50, and then the 7 finally showed. By that time I had thrown several hard 6’s, and one player walked away with a few thousand , which was unusual for that casino. BTK told me it was their entire profit for the day, which is why they stopped me.
