The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: An AC trip Report

Spread the love

So, this past weekend I went down to AC, met up with some fellow forum members, met some new shooters, saw some unbelievable things and in general had a good time.

Friday night started out kind of lackluster. Met with LuckyCharm, TheLion, and Princess at a boardwalk casino…no one had any real luck there however, and after 3-4 rolls each of nothing extraordinary (read: we sucked), we all left the casino to lick our wounds and try our hand in a different location (Side note: TheLion kept tabs on the ratio of 7’s that occurred at the table….when we left the table had collectively rolled 32 6-1’s, 9 5-2’s, and 8 4-3’s. someone tell me how that distribution looks!) When we arrived to our second location to try our hands, we wound up split on separate tables, with Luckycharm and myself on one table and TheLion and Princess on another. When the dice were finally passed to me, I really dialed in….started rolling. kept rolling….and rolling….there was nothing around me, just me, the table and the dice. I reached my Zen State…and not even Luckycharm trying to break my shoulder every time I rolled a number could distract me (but damn you shoulda seen the bruise the next morning….THANKS!!) Finally 41 numbers and 3 points later that 7 showed its ugly head. I was now up. (funny story: there was a guy who bought in for 1200 dollars 2 rollers before me. by the time I got the dice he had roughly 1000 left….when I 7’ed out, he left the table with maybe 3 dollars to his name….I didn’t think it was possible to LOSE 1000 dollars on a 41 roll hand, but then I guess when you throw 50 dollar horns EVERY throw…and scream obnoxiously "COME ON YO! SHOW US THE YO! HERE COMES THE YO! (and a box number would be the call) you’re gonna lose it all!). Luckycharm followed my 41 roll hand with a 30 of her own (PROPS TO YOU CASINO-WIFEY!) at that point we were up….played a while longer, and nothing really extraordinary happened (on the table at least) for the rest of the night….all in all a good night.

Saturday morning, started early…meeting 4Pork at the tables back at the boardwalk casino for some early morning action…didn’t start too promising. had to take a break for breakfast just to break up the bad juju at the table….unfortunately the bad juju outlasted breakfast and when we got back to the tables it backfisted us Bruce Lee style and we left the tables that morning down. 4Pork had business in Wildwood for the early afternoon, and I took a walk down the boardwalk to collect myself. settled in at another venue and it quickly became evident that the Bad juju was following me. I was now down quite a bit. after that disaster, took a stroll on the boardwalk again to the original venue, and I met up with TheLion and Princess again…finally bad juju was gone…had a couple of nice rolls in the 20’s…..but the thing with bad juju, it likes to come back. few rolls later, it was decided that we should break and go eat. That’s exactly what our team did. After dinner, we went back down and met up with 4Pork, and grabbed a table. I was down quite a bit (as were we all) and my first two cracks with the dice certainly help….(P-SO and P-Box-SO). I spent the rest of the time the dice went around the table trying to get back to my Zen State….and when I got the dice back I knew I had found it. I couldn’t hear anything…couldn’t see anything. Just me the table and the dice. I began to throw….6 or 7 throws later, hit my first point. there would be 10 or 11 throws before I hit my second point….that’s when a little birdie we call Princess began singing a little lucky jingle in my ear….it worked, because all of a sudden I had hit my 3rd point…1 more to go for that fire bet…next point was a repeater….which I nailed. 4th point set up. it was a 6. a few rolls go by….you could feel the energy around the table…then BAM! 3-3! With authority! 4th point hit! the first Fire bet of my throwing career….a few rolls later the 7 came a knocking…grand total 48 rolls and 5 points (4 for the fire bet). in that roll I brought everyone on the team back. Unfortunately, I have not yet conquered the urge to walk away from the tables when im up because I love to play. a few rounds later, I was down a little bit, but I definitely slept easy Saturday night having erased the disaster that was Saturday morning and early afternoon.

Sunday, was an interesting day. I took 2 rolls with the dice. 2 super short rolls. first roll 3-5 to set up an 8 as point….rolled, a 2-2, 4-2, 4-4 and hit the point. the 4-3 immediately followed the next point. my second roll saw a set up of 3-3 for a point of 6. then rolled a 2-2, a 5-5, and then a 4-3. Every roll was on axis, I just couldn’t find the groove to make them super long.

Things I took away from this trip: 1. My shot has improved drastically from pre primer shooting to post primer shooting. 2. People are stupid (COME ON YO! THROW THAT YO! THE YO IS GONNA SHOW!) 3. Learn to walk away after a win. 4. Betting on randoms even after they pass the 5 count will hurt you long term…minimize those bets to minimize losses (wheres a 5 dollar table when you need it for everyone else throwing) 4. Playing with friends really makes the game shine with the camaraderie that goes on. 5. The bankroll is absolutely necessary before playing. If I had my normal bankroll for the weekend I would have been betting more aggressively than I did (my normal spread would have been twice what my spread was this weekend) and I would have come home ahead with the rolls I had.

That’s all for now….hope you enjoyed the story! Til next time!

Great shot on the Hard-6 — and your shot is awesome — a definite money maker

REALLY REALLY !!!!! I wish I could have hit that 5th point at the Friday night casino — it would have given me a profit and got me thru the 3 days of play — and I would have enjoyed that jerk giving me another tax slip this year

Overall……It was fun — not too profitable, though

It seems like the Good Ole days in AC seem to be further in the mirror after every trip there

Still licking my wounds from the watery adventure near the Marina on Friday night (see jerk reference above)

The high number of 6-1’s tells me the dice were not on axis and people should work on their grip and delivery.

Finesse, I should have clarified….those stats for the 7’s were for EVERYONE at the table…and consisted of mostly randoms…I just thought it was a very skewed stat which is why I included it.

Let me add something — most likely, I go to AC more than anyone (or close to) on this Forum….been going there for years

I can say with 100% certainty that AC has really changed — gone are the good old days

I try to analyze the 7’s every trip — One night you’ll see where 90% of the 7-outs are 6/1 ……then, the next day, majority of the outs are 5/2…….then one day, it’ll be 4/3…..DOES NOT matter WHO shoots

I no longer get the "warm and fuzzies" in AC

It’s like the Wild Wild West down there

AWESOME BIGDADDY!!! Your shot is pretty awesome, wish I could have been there with ya’ll. It was great rolling with you and A in PA. Hopefully you can do again on 17th.

Talked to the boss about Dec AC trip for the weekend I mentioned, so let’s figure that one out. Maybe LuckyCharm can make it, I love her energy!

Big Daddy – great report. All good lessons learned and the hard part is knowing when to walk away.

Keep practicing and great shooting.
