Hoping The Seven

Spread the love

Hello all GTC members. I’m sure this topic must have been covered before, but I would like to re-visit it. What is the best way to say hop the three way seven after a point has been made and just before a new come out roll? A few come bets with odds have been established and I would like to hedge the come bets against the seven. Would hop the Big Red be appropriate or is there something better?

Why would you want to insure the come bets that have a house edge of 1.41% with a bet that has a house edge somewhere around 10% ,,to lose more over the long run.

Bad idea. very bad idea, painfully wrong thought,

Three way seven on the bounce is a cute way to say it though if you must.

I think I missed this during the betting discussion of all my GTC classes. Maybe it was under the things not to do ! 😉

I realize that it is a high house edge on this bet, but it usually occurs when I have multiple come bets up and a seven wipes out the come bets. Having to repeat those bets already up.

Rather than hopping the 7, why not just make place bets with your odds for the numbers you were on before the come out 7? HA will be better (even a place vs buy on the 4/10) than the 16%+ for the 7. Then when your new come travels, just use the payoff for odds and bring the place bet down.

It is not what GTC recommends. However, if you are up on 5 bets at $5 or $10 $3 or $6 "hopping the skinnies" makes me feel more comfortable. One dealer recently told me he hadn’t heard Skinny Dougans for 20 years. It might be fun to discover where that came from.

On an earlier post I told of a session were I was the only one at the table that was making little . The DP and the pass line players were winning . The DP even was saying that it was a good roll for him . Which does not happen vary often .
I did put money on the 7 AFTER A LOSS ON 2 COME OUTS .
But then I did not do the math and did loose some .I should have hopped them even tho I know it is a bad bet . But then again I had decided to JUST make come bets for a try .I am mostly a place better with come bets . If I would have done my usually bets I would have been real happy .
But it was an experiment just for that session .
So had 2 come out 7s with loss of come bets .One come out 7 with a win that did not cover my come bets .2 more come out 7s that one was short a little with the last one with a win that made a dollar or two .Had ONE come win during this roll .I did make money on the pass line tho .
Did not set for 7s on come out .Shit does happen .
I some times make a plan before I start a session and stick to it no matter what happens just to see the out come .This time it did not work at all .
Gave it a try .
That was the only time I have bet the 7s .
I think that hopping the 7s is up to you with the thought that you know what you throw when setting the dice .Some like to set for 7s on come out . When I set that way it seems that I never get them but not enough that I would do that at a casino on a come out roll with a point est. .
It seems that there are a lot more players hopping bets then years past . I think it has to do with some of the new lay outs .See it bet it .
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

Thanks for the replies. I was just wondering if anyone playing would be offended if the seven was mentioned on the come out roll where a few pass bettors would be wanting the seven for a pass win. I realize the come bettors would not want that seven to show. I think I’ll stick to hoping the skinnies.

Why not call it hopping the bunnies, since a magic trick is what you want.

Funny,

That is what I heard it called one night at the tables. Bettor asked for "three red rabbits hopping".
It took me a minute to figure out what he wanted but the dealers knew exactly what he wanted! 🙂

I agree, it’s all about having fun with it. 😀
