Atlantis trip report

Spread the love

I am sorry it took me so long to post this but I got home to crazy work. My family and I go to the Atlantis every year. Sometimes even a short trip in the winter for a long weekend. I have not one bad thing to say about the place besides maybe the expense. But the truth is, 8 days and 7 nights in the cove with all meals cost me $1,800.00. That was mostly taxes and grutity which they will not comp.

My wife is not a gambler. As some of you may have read from previous posts, her idea of gambling is $20 in a penny machine or $100 at BJ or Let It Ride. She much rather be shopping. So the deal we made was I would not step one foot into the casino until after dinner. Then I can stay in the casino all night if I choose. Fair enough.

Days are so much fun. My boys are now 7, 5 and 2. We spend the entire day at the pools or on the beach. There are lots of water slides for all sizes and ages so all three of them have a blast. I don’t even mind the going on the little slides. I fined it fun just being with them and watching them have fun. The two older ones, we bought them the swimming with the dolphins package. It was a blast. They got to feed them and play with them. They got such a kick out of it. My oldest, I took for the first time on a jet ski. Debbie was a little concerned that he was going to hold me back from having fun, but he kept saying "faster daddy, faster". Also, just so much fun.

Ok! Onto the fun stuff. The first two nights, I could not get my dice to do anything I wanted. They were wobbly and not straight. They would hit the wall and bounce all over. I could not get any controll. Plain and simple, I was just off. For anyone who has seen the movie Tin Cup, I put my wallet in my other pocket! I took my phone out of my back pocket! I moved my chips out of position in the rack! Nothing worked. I shot stick left! I shot stick right! Both two nights I lost my nightly bankroll and was in bed my midnight.

Night 3. I found it. Not sure what exactly I was doing wrong, but whatever it was, it was now corrected. My dice looked perfect. Good rotation, hit the back wall and died. My first throw for the evening was from stick right 2 and it was high teens. Number 2 was the same as was number 3. Number 4 was a whopping 40. I needed a break. I was getting a little tired, but I was on and didn’t want to quit and I had made back my two losing sessions plus some. I went to find my wife. She was playing 3 card poker and was up $85 and ecstatic. Most happy person in the world. I said ok, I’m going back to play craps.

I walk up to a fairly empty table with two other people. One standing stick right 1 and one straight out left. Both purple chip players. I jump into stick left 1. Guy to the right has the dice. I place a $60 6 and 8. It hits 3 times before the 7. I get the dice. Put $25 on the line and establish 10. Back it up with full odds and place the 6 and 8 for $90 each. Hit the 8 then the 10. Come out roll, I establish the point as 8. Back it up with full odds and leave my place bet on the 8. Throw up a $25 hard 8. Throw a 6 and then a hard 8. PERFECT. Now I establise a point of 4. I buy the 10 for $50 and put up a $25 come bet. Long story short, I threw 56 numbers. When I finally hit the 7, I had come bets and place bets on all numbers except the point where I had my pass bet and a place bet. The other two guys passed the dice back to me. I asked them not to do that because it’s way too much pressure. But none the less, I take the dice. Threw a 22. I colored up. Both guys threw me a purple chip. I handed the $1000 to Debbie and said happy shopping from the two of them, and I cashed out a ton of money.

The next day, I went to play at the outdoor craps table by the pool. Atmosphere is perfect. I stand stick right 1. The breeze is so strong that when I release the dice, they move three inches to the right in mid air. I realize that this is not a table for a controlled shooter. But I have some fun. Make a couple hundred bucks and leave.

That night in the casino, I’m standing stick left 1. Nothing like the night before but I was at the same table for 2 1/2 hours. Lowest was a 8 and highest was a 26. Staying pretty consistent when guy standing in the hook on the other side comes up to me. This is what he said

" I know what your trying to do with your dice set and your release. But I got to tell you, you are doing it all wrong. You need to set the dice in a 3V set to get the most protection against the 7. Using the hardway set like you are, you are gueranteed to hit many 6’s and 8’s but no protection against the 7."

I asked him how he knew all this stuff and he said he read it in a book by two guys named Dom and Frank, I asked him if he was practicing dice control, why wasn’t he standing next to the stick man. His answer was priceless.

"Because I am so good at this that I can stand anywhere I want. I have such a high edge over the house that I don’t need to stand next to the stick."

I said thanks for the advice and walked away. MORON!!!!!!!!M
The following night, I ended up playing with two fellow people who are interested in dice control and read this board. So I’m hoping they read this. Todd and Lefty from Orlando, Fla. it was a pleasure playing with you guys and I hope to see you in a class soon.

That about sums it up. As always, had a great time there and can’t wait to go back next year. Hope to see a lot of you guys in a few weeks in AC! That’s if there are anymore casinos left to play in.

Well written and fun to read. Always good to come back after a couple of rounds that are losers. As No Field Five says "trust your throw."

Midnight,
Great report. I didn’t realize you could throw from both sides of the stick. Do you use a different hand from each side? What a great advantage. You must always be able to find a spot to play from. Keep it up and have fun in AC.

Barry,
I am right handed only, but much prefer throwing from the right side. Last class, Dom looked at my throw from both sides and said I was definitely better from the right. But if my spot is taken, I can throw from the left as well. It is nice because I can usually find an open spot, and if I am playing with other GTCers, I can switch according to what is available. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
