Craps Experiences

Spread the love

Hello to all GTC members. I would like to learn what have been your best and worst experiences at the craps tables over your playing careers. It might include a funny or extremely weird situation that you normally don’t expect to happen at a game or possibly an annoying experience you would like to share with the board.
One experience I had was a pleasant one playing in a Vegas casino one evening. I was at a busy craps table playing in one of my favorite hotels on the strip, when I was recognized by the boxman. My last time playing there was three and a half years ago. I was amazed he had a good memory. The pitboss came over and offered me some comps. I didn’t expect that. I guess playing by the rules, tipping the dealers and playing by the 20 commandments does leave an impression in minds of the crew.
What were your experiences at the craps tables like? Share your stories. 🙂

Down in AC for dinner with about ten people. My bachelor playboy friend was there with latest hot GF. After dinner we took over a craps table. I was with all random rollers. Everyone was doing pretty well. Then friends hot GF gets the dice. She starts manipulating, caressing and shaking them in the most erotic way. She is winning come outs and making points like crazy. The table including the dealers were going crazy over her porn shooting. It was very entertaining….and profitable.

I would like to that Frank Scoblete for sharing his knowledge. I goggled ways to win at craps and discovered the 5 count. I quickly realized that although the 5 count was explained, how to bet was not. I was often referred to "Beat the craps out of the casinos" so I check my local library and bang there it was along with "Casino Craps" Which I have not read yet because I am trying to memorizing the first book due to my latest visit to AC which I will get to shortly. Since I have not paid Frank a dime for his books I signed up for 2 years here which is chump changes compared to what I learned in a week and money I just made. Long story short 2 trips to AC , 3 sessions $300-$4300 and it worked exactly as stated. Period. Now the long story which maybe 2 people will read.

Having grown up in NJ (I have a shore house in Brigantine) and not a rookie to Atlantic City BJ, Craps and poker I was of course skeptical, I mean the book is only a 180 pages read and most of the good stuff is 5 chapters of reading. I knew I had to go do some work on my house and was going to do some gambling so I bought a craps simulator ( actually it is free but it was cheap and I do not mind paying a fair price for work done). What is great about this is you can roll 100x faster than a real game, but it does not take into account a controlled dice roller which was fine. The first time I played it over a few sessions totaling a few hours in the simulator, which is a lot more in the casino hours. I turned a $1000 bank roll into 35K, but I did make some “CRAPPY” bets along the way and starting playing higher stakes then I would dare with real money. I was also unsure if I had changed some options in the game. I uninstalled and reinstalled and played again with strict discipline reminding myself that this was real money. I then turned $500 into 5K. Then I did it with the High roller method and won again. SO now I am sure the simulator is wrong, how can this always work? Frank’s book was published in 1991 surely more people would know about this by now. Right? I am will too chance real money since I have done so before at the craps table with lesser knowledge win or lose.

I skip the first trip here except to say that it was 6 weeks prior, I was woring on the house , and it was a hot night. I won at BJ ($1700) and craps with CRAPPY betting ( some luck back to back 11s and 12s at craps)=$900 so $300 initial investment I left with $2600 after I took back my $300. I am now armed with the $2600 for the previous trip and a week of reading the book and practicing on the simulator.

Night number one I went to a “NEW” Casino and I start with BJ since I have a decent method that allows me to play for hours waiting for a hot shoe, I can kind of count and do keep a loose number I can be distracted so I am never spot on, but one similarity to Franks’ Crap strategy is that I never increase my bet unless I have won 3x in a row so it is the house money. I never saw a hot shoe and after 8 shoes I got up down $200 bucks. I braced myself when to the craps area and found a perfect spot at the table. I cashed in another $500 plus my $300 left over from BJ.

I immediately got attendant because I was making the dealers work for their money and not make the casino a lot of money. I used doey don’t once around the table and it was neutral ( not hot not cold ), but I had made my $200 back so far and I really wanted to push this system. During the once in 1.5 around the table I thought I had identified a roller. She appeared drunk and casual, and took her time rolling while flirting with some guys on the other end, but previously she gave me the eye a few times and asked me what number would I like. I said 6’s and 8’s all night please. She said OK. Next time around to her I went right to the high roller method at 5 count and had I known I would have started to count her rolls. It was not anything super extended but I made $500 on her and it was late so I chalked up a win and went home as there was more work to do at the house tomorrow.

I was pretty excited and could not get my mind off of gambling as I toiled the day away. Next night I went closer to home since is almost right across the bridge and a fine Casino. I march right to craps area and search for a table. It is crowded as hell on A Sat at 11Am so I have to watch and wait. Guys at my end are complaining the table is cold but I count 4 and ask if they will make me room. They more over and put me one from the corner, and I just chuckle to myself as I step up and get my 6 8 and buy a 4 when the count hits 5. I make quick friends with my end of the table as I do like to get some comradery at the table. Once again I make a small amount for 2 rollers and passed the dice. Last night I rolled and it was a burden to honest as I was trying to set the dice also and it was a bit much. The last guy in the corner on my left is up rolls for 30 minutes and I am trying to keep calm as I have a lot of money out on the table but my stack is growing quickly. Now the table is loud and many people on my end are attributing the change in luck to me joining the table which I do not think is the case at all but I am making friend so that is fine. Next roller never makes the 5 count, but the next does and makes me a little. Next comes this new guy, he makes his 5 count, BUT he always and I mean every time crosses the table to the corner to land the dice in the corner to my right. I jump right and his roll is shorter but my 6s and 8s pay and pay and pay. My 2 racks are full of $25 and $5 and I ask the dealer for $100 chips for my some of $25 and he say’s we can just pay you in $100 chips from now on. OK, I guess I am a high roller! I sit and wait for my 5 counts which sputter and we are back to my group. Bam it is back on with Mike who has been quite the entertainer and the pit boss com in the middle of his roll and has the signs changed from 10$-15$ min which I am sure was to rattle Mike but he is not paying attention. Now I have 6 $100 chips lots of $25 chips and my fives are all but gone cause I need them to start my $60 6 and 8 and $35 buys. I have stopped counting my winnings at this point since my initial $500 is long off the table. Mike finally 7s out and it moves to his buddy. Mike and friends are pissed because they just learned about the table going up and I learn that it is immediate on the next roller. I shrug because I am a high roller (giggle) and it does not impact me in the least. They want to leave now and are losing moral but his friend is next so they stay, Again I have $120 on the 6’s and 8’s in no time and my buys are paying me well also. A few more rollers and it is getting late. I want to wait for the luck hot roller and the controlled roller. The luck roller does nothing. I cash out $1900 and change like a bit more that $60 I do not remember. I wait until the dice controller and he gets to the 5 count but I only but $30 on 6 and 8 . I miss out on a bunch of 4s and 10s. but Double my money. Time to go, I want give this guy more time to perform but it is 2:30 AM and I have worked all day and will work again tomorrow. I go the cashier I stuff a stack of $100 in my pocket add a little over a $100 to my money clip and briskly walk to my truck.

I would add that I did get a lot of attention from the pit boss during my run. In addition, and probably the most important lesson. Only one other player on the table seemed to capitalized as well as I had except on the seesion. He was right next to me and had moved to let me in. He had starting to mimic my bet but not using the 5 count. Still he was down $3000 when I showed up and was up after I left( Yes he won some well paying crappy bets). This other group of guys left ahead a few hundred, but had been betting on crappy bets, losing on the pass line and had no idea how much money they had on the board at any given time. Due to Franks method I ALWAYS knew where my chips were, my position on the board, and my money at risk. Armed with this I had time to watch their money, everyone’s on my side of the table for the most part which I never even though of doing before. This allowed me to point out a few errors the dealers were making with their money which they appreciated. It also allowed me to know when it was my turn to be paid, which was also a big help with a crowded table with a lot of arms grabbing up chips during a payout.

Thanks for reading if you made it this far. I am just so darn excited after that experience, I wanted to share this with people who may understand.

Good luck everyone and thank you Frank, $95 gladly paid for services rendered and I have 2 years to learn more.

I think I meantioned that I also got that book from the library > Casino craps Shoot to win.
I felt that since I did not pay Frank for the books I would give him the $95 to his web site and get the 2 years added bonus.

I also enjoyed reading of your ventures CorwynSMP. I have many thoughts and ideas from reading your post but that is a topic for another time over the next 2 years. We have lots of time 🙂 Just one thing, GTC has gotten away from recommending the doey-don’t.

In the meantime I would second what Bretboy1 said, "the key to long run success is developing a controlled throw" and Casino Craps"Shoot to Win!" is a far more advanced book than Frank’s 1991 book.

Good Rolling. 😀

First CorwynSMP welcome, your first post was great. Skinny is right, we have gotten rid of the doey-don’t as a method of betting.

Now to the question at hand: Death was the most memorable thing I ever saw at a craps table. Guy keeled over at Claridge and some other guy (no kidding) was getting ready to step over him to take his spot. The Captain protected the dead guy’s chips and stopped the interloper from interloping. I hae this whole story in one of my books (I forget which one).

In my early gambling days I was a BJ player only. It was mid afternoon and the player next to be fell off his chair on to the floor. The dealer yelled to the pit crew "player down" and kept dealing. Security came to his rescue, dragged him away from the table, and treated him. An ambulance was called. BUT, the game never stopped. The pit took his chips and place in a bag to give to him later—I assume.

CM

The following happened 2 weeks ago at the casino we have played at together.

I was at the crapless table and all of a sudden there was a commotion at the first craps table to the right. An older (In his 80’s) gentleman, a regular, fell against another player and fell to the floor. At once a dealer returning from her break went to help the older chap. Security was called and they started oxygen. Within 7 minutes the EMS arrived and did an ECG etc then took the gentleman to the hospital. I talked to the security and they said the they suspected he had a heart attack as his heart beat was irregular. Also the craps dealer stayed with the man until he security arrived.

Talking to the craps dealers after I was told that one of the best places to ave a heart attack, etc etc is in a casino (At least in Canada) as all the security are trained in emergency medicine. That’s good to know.

I remember a very drunk woman picking up all 5 dice and throwing them all down the table. As the box was saying ‘no roll’ the stickman didn’t miss a beat and called the roll, 18.

It’s so nice to work with professionals. 😉
