Craps

One play or many?

Spread the love

So, If you take a gambling fund of $1800 to play craps on a six day vacation, would you:

(a) Bet all your fund on one shooter (could be yourself), passline with other bets as you choose,
and leave at the end of that one hand, to start with what’s left, if anything, next day, through the six days?

Or:
(b) Go to the table with only $300 each day for six days, to bet your way through many hands as luck will have it,
for a four-hour session, longer or shorter as you choose, each day?

Which option, (a) or (b), do you think would yield a more positive expectation?

What would you do?

I would definitely use (b). Keep your bets to a minimum until a long roll comes along. Use a progression style of betting if your dice look favorable. Using option (a) could wipe you out early if a few point sevens show their ugly heads. 😈

Sitting around with no money at a CASINO sounds like no FUN .So B would be it except I am a low roller so my bye in is 200.00 and never take that much to a casino period .
I just play toooooo long any way . I start in morning and do not eat lunch so do play way to long .
I use to roll at any position but now I only play if my spot is open unless I want to see how the other at table are rolling .Can be a good blocker for never do pass line bet on CFers any more .
I have had dealers say they wish they were doing the betting on my roll .I remember when I never pressed period .
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

Is this a trick question? What is the catch?

I agree with Skinny – but not so trick question.
Why would you blow your bankroll on the first day when you are on a 6 day trip.
You can make smart bets on the first day so you have plenty to blow on your last day. 😉 😀 😀 😀 😀

What is your SRR?

Posted by: Finisher on June 12, 2014, 1:26 am

What % OF YOUR 401G IS THIS .
Even if you had an SRR of 10 or more you could have one bad day and then 5 more bad days playing with no money to speak of .
If I was going to bet like A I would have to have a bigger 401G THAT IS FOR SURE AND NOT MARRIED .The wife would NEVER go for that .
If I get a green from the casino on a bet I am happy . 🙂 🙂
I am happy with playing all day and getting comp RFB .
Just have not made a free room at the lion place yet . 🙂 🙂
I think with my low bets no casino worries about my action .
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

Everyone has made such good points! So touching on what Finisher said, if you are going to a casino for a 6 day trip and you blow all your money on day 1, Why not just make it a 1 day trip and play heavy. There is only one answer here. You have a much higher chance of making more money if you have many small sessions especially if you have a edge at the game. Please make the right decision and play smart.

This is a no brainer. Bet low spread out your betting as your bankroll allows. Funny things can happen in a game of chance you can lose everything early on in a trip or you can win big or lastly your wins and losses will bounce back and forth.

So play smart. We all assume you have a slight edge with your GTC skills in tact so time is on your side. Don’t get greedy. Enjoy the ride and as the great Skinny always says—play the math, it always wins.

Plan C.
Only play when the conditions give you an advantage. This could mean betting more when your shot is on and you are feeling good. Never roll on the first or last days of your trip. There are many times when I avoid playing when the tables are crowded or conditions turn against you due to outside factors. Last but not least, only bet on yourself and five count or avoid betting on random rollers all together.

DP—well said. But I don’t think this is plan "C". It is the only plan.

SevenTimesSeven So what is the break down on that 1800.00 bet going to be ? Would you max out the fire, small, tall, and all ? Then go to the box numbers for the rest or put some on the Prop bets in the middle .
The money could disappear real quick .
Or be like that guy that puts the 1mil. on line for one bet action .
Good Rolling.

What is your goal?

If you want the best chance for a big hit (double your money) then go with A. You expose the smallest amount to the HA.

If you want to play every day, then B is your better option.
