AC Class…

Spread the love

I’m takiing the primer class in AC next month. I was wondering if anyone plans on hitting any Casinos while in town? Trying to plan out my weekend. I live 45 min away and planned on commuting back and forth and was thinking about getting a room and spending some time practicing. Trying to get a feel for what everyone else has planned.

Just my 2 cents here…

I have taken the primer and 2 refreshers. There is a lot going on in class. There is a lot of information and a lot of throwing. I mean a lot of throwing. Your arm will be tired from the amount of throwing on Sunday. You want to be well rested to get your full money’s worth. As we all know the class ain’t cheap. To get the most out of class weekends, I just focused on the class. I went to bed early. I studied the notes and read the books I had picked up before class.

A week or so before I took the various classes, Golden Touch sent out the syllabus and other information. There was an article or two that talked about the importance of being well rested and how it aids in building your muscle memory. I took the advice to heart and believe I got more out of the class by not playing that weekend.

Now the Monday after class is an entirely different subject….

Hi JasonM. If you can afford a motel room, I would highly recommend it. There are some inexpensive non-casino ones in AC and the immediate surrounding areas. As Chuckman says, you will be extremely tired at the end of both days. We start early and end around 5pm +/-. By staying in a motel, you will have time to relax, rest, and be fresh for the following day. I don’t believe anyone drives home after class. Even when the class finishes, people hang around to practice and talk with the instructors.

We also really discourage playing Saturday or Sunday, again, due to the fatigue factor. We want you to be fresh for class on Sunday. After all, you did pay a lot of money to attend, and we want you to learn as much as possible. If you play at night, you will be too tired to concentrate on Sunday. You will also probably lose your hard earned money, because you will not yet be proficient with your throw, and you might be making disadvantageous bets. Betting is covered in class, as well.

We look forward to working with you in class.

Also after you stay at any casino IF your room is not comped ask if you can get a reduction or casino rate .If you don’t ask they will not offer unless you win big . The worse that they can say is no.
Get a good nights sleep and take good notes .I did not roll when I took the class till it was over too .You will enjoy meeting a lot of great people .
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

Ok thanks for the advice guys. No "practicing" for me. I’ll stick to the rules. But I did take Mon-Wed off following the class 😉

haha…I’m looking at the money spent on the class as a long term investment. I dont plan on getting it back all at once. Hoping to just play smarter. I’ve lost more than the cost of the class in one day at the tables, sad to say. Thats why the price of the class doesn’t bother me so much. I figured if I learn something to improve my game it’s worth it. Bad days at the Casino are just as costly and you really don’t learn much other than the best bet would’ve been to stay home. I’m looking forward to the class and learning all I can.

Sounds like you have the right approach. Pay attention in class, take good notes and follow the advice you are given to the letter and you will do fine.
