Women don’t know anything about sports according to Mayor Ford
Rob Ford is the mayor of Toronto and he has recently made his debut appearance on the Sports Junkies show in which he was supposed to talk about football picks for Week 14. However, the conversation got a bit off topic and the Toronto mayor pointed out that women win at sports betting because they base their picks on how cute the players look in their uniforms and not on how good they are on the field.
It would be a good time to point out that not long ago, several gang members arrested by the Toronto police claimed that Ford is addicted to crack cocaine and heroin. But, to get back on the sports betting topic, Ford stated that he doesn’t place bets with a bookie and that he takes part in the city hall office pool, which is a form of illegal gambling. During his rant about how women don’t know everything about sports, Ford mentioned a story in the TV show Cheers in which one of the characters base their prediction of a game on the animals after which the teams are named. In this case, the Bears would easily win against the Dolphins.
Needless to say that the statement did not go well with women bettors and an advisor for Toronto councilor Karen Stintz posted a picture with the office pool picks from last year. These showed that Stintz got nine out of eleven games right and Ford only got two. With a seemingly better understating of the game, Stintz will now face Ford in another game as the 2014 reelections will see the two compete for the same position. An interesting thing to point out here is that polls show that Ford has increased in popularity after admitting that he smokes crack, so Stintz will have a difficult time in the campaign.
With the topic of the Washington Redskins being discussed throughout the industry lately, Ford also got his two cents in on whether or not it is a racist name and should be changed or if tradition makes up for it. He didn’t care much for the controversy and made a joke to drive his point home, starting from the lack of other naming options and with the “Cleveland Aboriginals” as an example for another team.
The good news is that mayor Ford will continue to appear on the Sports Junkies morning show on the radio station for the near future, so more interesting pieces of knowledge will be made available to the general public.
