Another falsehood by Obama

Obama did not tell the truth when he stated: Repubicans ‘sure haven’t presented an alternative’ to Obamacare

Below are 3 links that make for some interesting reading.

The first link states Obama is lying when he says the Republicans have not proposed any alternatives to Obamacare.

The second link is a high level summary of a proposal introduced by the Heritage Foundation’s President and former Senator Jim DeMint.

The third link provides the details of that proposal.

I am listening to Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) on the Bret Baier show – Special Reports – Center Seat

He graduated with an M.D. from the University of Michigan. He completed his residency at Emory University in Atlanta. He ran an orthopedic clinic in Atlanta for 20 years before returning to Emory as assistant professor of orthopedic surgery. Price also was the director of the orthopedic clinic at Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital.

On the show he discussed a bill which he introduced in the House of Representatives on June 7, 2013. The Empowering Patients First Act (H.R. 2300) would permanently repeal President Obama’s health care law and replace it with patient-centered solutions. He previously sponsored the Empowering Patients First Act in the 111th and 112th Congresses as H.R. 3400 and H.R. 3000, respectively.

What he described about the bill sounded positive and a solid alternative to what is in place today. Congressman Price said there are several bills that have been introduced in the past and are pending today. The problem is not that there are no alternatives from the Republicans, there are several. He said the leadership has stated health care reform is a priority for them and they will be taking it up in conference when they come back from Christmas break right after the 1st of the year. What that means is the Republicans will come up with a single plan from the existing proposals that the entire party can agree on and present as the Republican alternative to Obamacare.

Obama may have done the country the biggest favor he never intended to do. Thanks to Obamacare millions of Americans are focusing on their health insurance. They are seeing what a disaster it can be when the Democrats, single-handed, not accepting any ideas from Republicans, completely shutting Republicans out of the design process, without a solitary vote from a Republican put forth a replacement to the health insurance system that was in place. People are realizing what they liked about their former insurance plans and what it means when a solution is mandated upon them by the Government that eliminates much of what they liked, adds in components they do not need and increases the cost (both premiums and deductibles) way beyond what they ever experienced under the old system. Americans are in a much better position today to evaluate proposals for change. They now are much more aware of what they like and don’t like about health insurance reform.

Thank you President Obama and your autonomous Democrat party.

Now when the Republicans put forth a solution, the American public will be in a position to understand and endorse it, as opposed to not paying any attention to what was proposed by the Republicans in the past.

Following is a link to the press release when Congressman Tom Price introduced the bill in June, 2013. In that link you can click on the section-by-section parts of the legislation to get an idea of what is in the bill. You can also click on the entire bill but that may be a bit onerous to read.

Here is another proposal by the Republicans for an alternative to Obamacare.

Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma co-authored the Patients Choice Act of 2009 (S. 1099), a Republican plan for Health care reform in the United States.

Coburn pursued a medical degree and graduated from the University of Oklahoma Medical School with honors in 1983. He then opened a medical practice in Muskogee, Oklahoma and served as a deacon in a Southern Baptist Church. Coburn is one of three medical doctors currently serving in the U.S. Senate.
