In an interview Nancy Pelosi had with Chris Wallace back in February, 2013 Ms. Pelosi made the following statement,
"So, it is almost a false wrong to say we have a spending problem. We have a deficit problem that we have to address."
I hate to be the one to break this to our esteemed minority leader but "false wrong" is a double negative meaning the affirmative not the negative.
But her statement as she intended it, as opposed to how she spoke it, is completely ridiculous. When you have a deficit, your expenditures exceed your revenues. I understand liberals would like to increase revenues (taxes) to decrease the deficit. However as Wallace points out, "If you took the total income of everyone making more than $1 million a year, if you taxed it all, at 100 percent, that’s only $726 billion, which is less than the projected deficit for the year." Thus it is impossible to raise taxes enough on the wealthy to eliminate deficit spending. The deficit can not be eliminated without fixing the government’s spending problem.

Both sides have dipped our country so far into credit card debt it is crazy. We are spending like 30 Billion a year more now then we did before the recent depression. The first several waves of stimulus spending were used to grease each politicians states needs to keep their voters happy and did little or nothing to create jobs. And if you recall none of them complained about stimulus spending then. And the majority of the so called stimulus spending has been so misdirected it hasn’t created nearly the amount of jobs it should have. All I have seem is a few highway projects but nothing to provide the kind of highways we are going to need to support industry in the coming years. By 2035 this country will be so congested that it will seriously affect our economy. Basically Washington doesn’t think past the next election and there is no one with any foresight left to run this county. Sad state of affairs. We currently spend as much on the military and the entire rest of the world put together spend on their military – go figure. Profitable companies and billionaires not paying any taxes and government subsidizing retirees medicare who make over $250,000 in retirement? Billionaires subverting the political process? Where and When does it stop. I am so hoping for a rational third party to take control of our country.
