Fire bet and crapless craps

Spread the love

So I wont get into too much detail about my trip to Canada because I did wayyyyy too much gambling for a short trip. I did however follow it up with the Michigan/Notre Dame game which was amazing. My first time in "The Big House" and it was unbelievable.

The casino I visited in Ontario had a crapless craps table. $5 minimum bet all the time with a spread to $50,000 which I have never seen before. 5X odds allowing the player to push the house on the 5,6,8 and 9. Short table and incredibly friendly staff. In fact, probably the nicest set of dealers I have ever experienced. (Welcome to Canada) Best part is they allow PUT bets. Which means instead of ever buying the 4 or 10 or any of the extreme outside numbers with a 5% vig, you can simply put down a $10 come bet on any number and back it up with $50 in odds. Also, they will allow you to increase your flat bet and increase your odds anytime you want.

Now, just to add into the fun of crapless craps, they have the FIRE bet. However, instead of paying out on 4, 5 or 6 numbers, they pay out on 3, 4, 5 or 6 different points. Payouts are as follows

3x 10-1
4x 30-1
5x 150-1
6x 300-1

I’m not sure on the math of it, Thats why I like Skinny so much! I can tell you this, in 36 hours of being on the property, I only play the fire bet when myself or my brother (random shooter) is throwing and I hit 3 points 7 times, 4 points 2 times and 5 points 1 time. It payed off for me very nicely. I also happened to be on this weekend making up for my last outing in a casino. All in all, I had a great time, made some money and enjoyed a weekend out with my brother, who may be joining us in September for the class!

Hi Michael

Glad you had a great time in our country. I am usually at that casino mid week but let me know when you return and I will try to meet up. CM plays there as well.

PM me at the GTC email.

Michael did you play at any of the Detroit casinos?

If you play at that casino in Canada much some of the dealer know what you are going to bet before you do. The dealers and pit bosses are all very friendly and professional. Some of them have mentioned about Frank and Dom playing there when Frank did a Gambling Seminar there.

A put bet on the 4 or 10 with 5X odds carries a House Advantage of 5.56%.

A buy bet carries a lower HA of 4.76% if you pay the vig up front and 1.67% if you only pay the vig on a win. The put bet on the 4 or 10 requires 6X for the vig up front or 19X odds for the vig on a win only to have the same HA as a buy bet.

So the put bet is a bad bet with only 5X odds.

The Fire Bet they had carries a HA of 20.73%.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the math is what it is.

Skinny, that is why I love you so much. Bad news or not, I can count on you for the math. I did not go to any of the Detroit casinos. I was with my cousin who goes to UM and he is only 20. Thats why we chose Canada. I was shocked that the dealers were so up on my bets. I aways bet $15 on the pass. At one point, I forgot to put a pass line bet down. Guy threw the dice and hit a 7. Dealer still payed me the $15 even thought my bet wasn’t down. I looked at him kind of funny. His answer was, "you take care of us, we take care of you". It was an absolute pleasure playing there. I will go back ant time i get a chance.

One thing about the buying the 4 & 10 at that casino is you pay the vig up front but you can go to $39. You can also add to the bet after every roll without paying any additional vig.

If they allow you to go to $39 on the 4 or 10 with the vig paid up front, that reduces the HA from 4.76% down to 2.5%.
